With that logic we have 91 patches to go before 3.0 or 91 x 6 weeks = 546 weeks or 10.5 years

You're probably confusing with the patch in the first post, this patch is 2.9.9. Or was it a joke?

Head tracking (opentrack) breaks everytime
TheFreshPrince replied to TheFreshPrince's topic in General Bugs
I haven't beent playing much lately, but so far I had no issues with the new driver. So I think it was the problem. Thank you @MAXsenna ! -
In the past, the best graphic cards were developed for PC gaming. Then came Bitcoin, now it's AI. PC gaming is not that important to NVIDIA anymore. The other markets are so much bigger, that's why the stock price took off through the roof. Maybe one of the reasons why the prices are so high. For comparison, NVIDIA Q2 financial results state a revenue of $2.9 billion for gaming and AI PC of a total of $30 billion, that's only 10%. 88% of NVIDIAs revenue comes from "datacenter" chips (=AI). It makes sense for NVIDIA to focus on those and production capacities are highly limited, so graphic chips get much more expensive. But one has to acknowledge that older graphic cards are still very capable and buying the most expensive new ones isn't really necessary.

Lots of fixes, very nice! The short guidance for each aircraft is also highly appreciated, thank you. But most importantly, this is probably the last big patch before 3.0! So let's see what awaits us with that.

DCS Players Have Had Enough - A youtubers opinion
TheFreshPrince replied to giullep's topic in Chit-Chat
Easy, just expand the map towards Ukraine and there's your warzone. Caucasus has earned an upgrade, it's still THE map. New maps are also welcome of course. But I wonder if you still want to have it as the standard map in several years with things changing around it. Old missions and campaigns get (or are already) broken anyway. Also, I'm gonna be honest here. Very often someone suggests something, the answer is "doing this would mean this and that and it's not possible because of...". It's really frustrating. It's EDs job to find ways to make things happen and certainly it's never impossible, just lots of work as always. -

You refer to Barthek I guess? It's better with those textures, but new textures aint gonna cut it. It needs a complete overhaul. Also, mods can't be the solution (especially for beginners who don't know about them). Alternatively buy up Syria and make it the main free map. -

What I would love to see is an overhaul of Caucasus. Mariannas is the second free map and it looks so much better. Yet everyone is playing on Caucasus. If it looked better, it could encourage beginners to stay and buy aircraft or other maps. But if you come to DCS the first time and only see Caucasus, you start to think why does this sim look so bad. -

At least the Steam Multiplayer numbers tell a different story. Yes, one would need better statistics to really evaulate both the user numbers and the user happiness. But blindly pretending that everything is and will be fine is just ridiculous and also not helpful. -

This exactly proves my point I mentioned above. DCS is getting lost in overly complicated details. Why not focus on improving the rendering in general for everyone? Creating the dots has generated new problems that you're trying to fix by making it even more complicated by trying to create a seperate solution for different hardware setups. I can imagine how much time this takes. And what happens when Vulcan comes out? Will you start the whole process over again? What when new hardware comes out, new resolutions, etc.? Sounds like trying to build a quick fix instead of something for the future. The mission editor has been mentioned now, I approve that it has been developed further a lot (it actually has). But it has also become much more complex and complicated, so much actually that you need to study it in detail to create simple missions. So has it really been improved? It also proves a new point, namely that DCS is being developed further and further, but in the core still stays the same thing and the only way to develop it seems to be to add new stuff on top of the old stuff or to change old stuff. It's like you're still using Windows 2000, but with added features of Windows 10. Difficult topic, but I see this critically. -

I don't get why ED doesn't listen to user feedback, it's really frustrating. Instead they always seem to know it better. Also no guidance as in what to expect in the next months or year, so also nothing to look forward to. I don't count the "and beyond video", because apparently "beyond" can mean anything between now and the next 100 years. Lots of fixes, but still and even more lots of bugs. It seems like DCS is getting lost in details while the important things are being left untouched. New buttons and gimmicks for F-16 or F-18 are cool, but those aircraft are pretty fine as they are (or were before all the bugs and certain changes). It would be better to focus on what annoys most of the community instead of a few enthusiasts. The RAZBAM issue is the tip of the iceberg. The Spotting dots issue is another example (1300 posts in the main thread!). I know ED is working on this stuff, but you can work all day long, in the end it's the results that matter. And when I joined there were a lot of improvements, but for some reason this year was pretty disappointing, also most of last year. Luckily there is no competition for DCS, but that also doesn't mean that people need to play DCS at all. I personally am not gonna wait another year for something to change. -

There are only a few patches left this year, so not sure what to expect. One of them should be focused on Iraq. Better not expect a MIG or Eurofighter anytime soon, then you'll spare the disappointment when it doesn't come.

Hopefully Mig 29 before GTA 6

investigating Hornet's Slow-State Energy Bleed?
TheFreshPrince replied to wilbur81's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I'd be happy if it was 90% accurate. There are so many Hornet pilots out there who can give feedback, so many videos of Hornet airshow performance, even combat and HUD footage, suggestions from users, etc. It's not like this is all classified and unknown stuff. Together with the F-16 it should be one of the most publicly known aircraft out there. It's not an F-22. -
Well on my end it looks pretty much the same with the shimmering and bad anti-aliasing for distant, linear objects as well as clouds. But I remember MSAA always like this. TAA is better, but the picture gets very blurry. Better to get a card that supports DLSS/DLAA, which is acceptable quality.

I also noticed AI keeps flaring after ejecting, this might be related: ejectionbug.trk

Score Window does not record in Multiplayer
TheFreshPrince replied to GeoS72's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
It breaks after every few updates and they don't care about it. It always takes ages to fix. At least this time the score count still works. -

Head tracking (opentrack) breaks everytime

Using the CL-Eye driver 5.3.0.0341. Do you use the same or a different one? -
I'm having big problems since the last version of DCS (already before the 9/30 update). I didn't play in months and freshly installed both Windows (10) and DCS as well as opentrack. Everytime I switch from MP to SP or vice versa or open the F10 map (maybe other triggers as well), my headtracking starts to lag massively to the point that it's unplayable. The only thing that helps at this point is to restart DCS. I have attached a trackfile where you can see it, especially after the merge. Help is much appreciated. Screenshot with the settings: I'm using the PS3 cam with an IR-filter plate. It worked fine before I reinstalled everything. Trackinglagg.trk

My feedback is, I do not see any performance increase at all. If any, it got a bit worse on the ground and at low altitude. I also have an older system.
