F-35A Announcement discussion mega thread.
TheFreshPrince replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
I was wondering about the Eurofighter already and even for the F18 we still have a lot of unknowns. But every country with older jets is transitioning to F35s right now. Yes we are getting older models I know, but there is no way we are getting anything close to the real jet. It's capabilities will need to be nerfed by 20-30% minimum. -
So... Lots of dynamic campaign stuff. Berlin/Germany map. F35 is wild, will likely take a looooot of time. F15C will be super duper awesome, but I just read that it won't be released until 2026. Eurofighter probably same. Only looking forward to the MIG29 this year. What else? There's so much missing that people anticipated. I probably need Wags explaining the video or else I don't get it.

I mean things can change, that's why it's called "2025 and beyond" and not "what is DCS like right now?". Fair enough if people still would want to buy the maps, it's just my personal opinion that I wouldn't and I see no point in those maps without proper missions and campaigns... But lets wait for the video first and what it has to offer.

Some thoughts on the jet trainers in DCS (L-39, C-101, MB-339)
TheFreshPrince replied to Zius's topic in Chit-Chat
I trialed the L-39 two times and loved it very much. Flying by instruments "under the hood" is a crazy experience. It also provides a much better experience in what flying an aircraft actually means. But as you say, its capabilities are limited. And since DCS is a combat simulator, I prefer other planes. Maybe prop planes would be interesting as they are both combat ready and provide a "pure" flying experience. -
What's the point of having a map without the assets? DCS is not a landscape simulator. Fulda Gap was not a proxy war (cold war) scenario like other maps and scenarios we have in DCS, it was a full scale WW3 scenario. AH-1 is one big important thing missing since DCS focuses on air assets, but I'm sure it will come at some point. But we're also talking about massive tank and troop battles as well as nukes/ADM (zebra package). I recently was at an military exhibition in the Fulda gap region, which showed all the maps, assets, scenarios and the scale of it. DCS doesn't have the ability for such large scale scenarios. And I don't see the point of doing something on this map that I could do on any other map. Same applies to Korea or Vietnam. ED has shown napalm coming with Vietnam, cause it's obviously important.

Good that the pilots survived. Costly incident, but at least not fatal.

Winter Sale 2024 | MiG-29 Fulcrum | Merry Christmas
TheFreshPrince replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
MIG-29 looking good! Still a long time till release, but it's gonna be a great module for sure. -
Yeah, it is if you are already looking exactly at it. I don't want a spotting dot, I hate those things. I would like it to be rendered as closely to what I would see in real life. Do those pixels look anything like that? You say it's super easy to see, but couldn't spot it in a still image. If I had taken a picture in real life in this situation, wouldn't you be able to see it? Why are the pixels only black, why is it so small compared to the trees, etc.
