The Workshop was - at least god knows how many years ago, probably 2015-20ish, in one of those little terraced workshop bits. Sort of beside the BOB hanger and on the ‘bridge’ or ‘back’ side. They’re only little workshops with a few lovely old-school lathes and benches, literally like we had in our teens in school. They have (if it’s still in the same spot) folders like photo albums of WIP projects they’ve got up to along the way. I think ARCo rebuilt it as a Mk1 from a MkIV or something after it was pranged? - I should look it up, bound to be way off. I haven’t read up for a bit and my brain’s a scrambled egg. I’m always happy to be in original buildings too so it was nice to look around in bits I hadn’t seen open before. I stumbled in there after a show one day, had a look around and made a donation. The fella in there helped engineer some of it and was as good as gold and pointed out a few bits to me. I was cracking up looking at pics of ‘Blenheim Cars’ so he pulled out some stuff for me to look at and I asked if he could build me one . Hasn’t happened yet but it’s Birthday time soon so who knows? Where can we get a Blenheim cockpit? I didn’t get to North Weald no. I really should, I’ve been meaning to for years, long before Aeros were there. I’ve spoken to BOB veterans that flew from there and had chuckles with them (or them with me) about me visiting the old spots. It’s had a bit of a boost a few years ago, I’ll have to get over there sometime. I know KP is massively keen on D-Day and who doesn’t love their C-47s? - I have to call em that now. They were always just ‘Daks’ to me but Keith put me straight with a smirk so they’re firmly C-47s or SkyTrains now, or I get a spanking . I’ve been educated. Did you see their Paras jump? I didn’t get there til way later than planned and missed the jump Sunday. Saw them fly in and pick up the lads later on and fly off again, always good to see. Will have to look for a bit of their trip over Normandy. I’ve reached my limit for uploading pictures apparently? Not sure which way I’m meant to be upping pics to the forum but I’ll have to work it out before I can by the looks. - Did you have to crop yours in at all? That long lens you have’s doing well, is that the 300? With a crop maybe? Tidy tidy shots. Edit: Speaking to Mrs Slippa about this and she remembers it as clearly as I do but I realised, this was before ARCo built their new hangar at the far East. Don’t know if they moved everything over there or still use some of the old bits?

New Manston Airfield Normandy 2.0, ATC does not respond.

I’m beginning to see a pattern . What ‘s the procedure for this then, a bug report for a bug report? @Orsen come in Orsen, Nanu Nanu Snafu snafu. -
Cheers for the update. I can’t grab it yet but will soon, look forward to it .

Nice shots Qcumber. Love the Blenheim too. If you can and haven’t already, it’s worth visiting their little workshop. They have all sorts of pics and paperwork pertaining to the Blenheim. I want one of the cars they used to make out of the cockpits . Had a nightmare journey up this time. Took me an hour to do 15 miles when I left home. Closed the Motorway, I still had a good couple of hours journey to do. We picked the right day though. Sunday was a proper June day. Forum won’t let me upload any pics.

This thing’s pretty incredible. Keep it up .

I feel the need to snatch at the Kiowa like a snatchy swipe-snatcher. I’ve seen those videos . Fair point though. Would be nice to get a deal on it but a properly finished module on release I won’t complain about. It does look tidy. Chinook I think will be a ‘must have’ too. I’ve been trying out the choppers at last and loving it. The Loach got me out of my props for a bit, great little thing it is too.

Much appreciated too. Amazes me seeing what is possible with modding. Looking pretty good

I know a certain wooden flying machine in need of these suspension fixes you speak of. Not quite carrier capable, unless you’re ‘Winkle Brown’ but definitely having some ED over-tinkering troubles. You may be the very man for the job . Hadn’t spotted this for a bit. Well done to all the wizards here adding bits and bobs. Skins too I didn’t know about and we can never have too many so cheers.

I’m very fond of the Loach. Huey’s great and I’m looking forward to the Cobra and Kiowa a lot. Chinook could be great if it’s done well. Not that any will get a look-in for a while. Getting addicted to the Phantom pretty quickly and I’ve yet to fire a weapon from it yet.

That’d be ideal, more left rudder and not too quick with the collective, and cheaper . Looking forward to seeing what’s new in the update. I haven’t seen a list yet but I’ve got a bit protective of our little bird already. I’m feeling guilty for leaving her while I learn the Phantom and between you and me, I’ve got one eye on the Cobra and another on the Kiowa too. Probably shouldn’t be flying anything with my eyes the way they are. I’ll have a think about extensions. I have desk-mounts with my stick between my legs so it depends how things measure up. Also, well, most of you are probably the same, or will be in time but I keep eyeing up flashy lights and clicky-switches and fancy some peripheral therapy . Wonder what’s coming in the update now? I really must try to focus. Ah, I was writing while the list was posted. Nice, looking forward to it.

Reading that post myself Andy I was thinking you’d have found what I did. That little nipple button (technical term escapes me) on the throttle, in line with your left middle finger, that little bugger. I’m sure that was bound to either pitch or roll? Or maybe it was the toe-brakes that were? It had me scrabbling about trying to fly this for a couple of days but when I sussed it, with a mixture of help from here and sheer luck of stumbling on it, I tried it out and knew within seconds of taking off it was sorted. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is. It was driving me nuts. I’m no expert rotor pilot by any stretch but I knew I wasn’t as bad as it was making me look . Before you shell out too much, if all else fails just clear all the bindings for everything and do em all again? Then get the hammer or the wallet out? I’m passing on the yellow spring advice to Mrs Slippa as it’s coming up for my Birthday . Cheers for the pointer Esac, I’m sure she’ll be over the moon . Cheers Max for the extension idea too, I’ll have a look but have been drooling over some of the Virpil gear so? hope you get lucky Andy.

If fictional skins weren’t included I wouldn’t be flying the Phantom in one. I wouldn’t be using Windows if I could fly DCS without it. It’s always trying to ram something down my throat I don’t want. Spent hours trying to get rid of bleedin ‘Edge’ before. Bloody thing’s a zombie I can’t kill off. The more ‘management’ I can have over any of this stuff is better for me and while I’m at it, thanks to all the wizards that come up with the things we do have here, mod managers and the like. Skates type of thing etc. Ideal .

It’s gorgeous. Landed it earlier for the first time. So pleased with myself I forgot where I’d bound the chute, just made it . Thanks again, it’s proper mustard.

Bang on ol bean.

I made sure to bind some of the lights. Quite cosy sitting in there with the dim red glow on . Thanks to all of ya for bringing us this, we all get a phantastic phriday tomorrow.

It does look good, inside and out, front and back . I really haven't used the jets I have, barely flown em and systems are all still gobbledegook to me. I was planning to learn the Hornet, Tomcat and Eagle systems, oh and the Harrier but no. Too many screenshots of this and I had to grab it. I'm going through the training and have had a few little tear abouts in it. Jester bailing out is my G-warning at the minute . I'm loving it but he may be psychologically damaged so I'll try to rein it in a bit and stop swapping seats for the look round

I have a green spring in my Warthog. I should look for a softer one really. When I was messing with it I tried it without a spring at all for an hour or so. Silly idea , I should get myself some heli HOTAS probably as I'm getting somewhere with em lately, the huey I'm fine with and this little bird's great. Yet to learn the Apache sytems, same with the Gazelle but I can fly em. Some crackers on their way too (Two weeks ™) . For now, the green spring with nothing else but the standard Warthog is all I'm using. Marshallmans' curves and clearing out the crazy bindings did it for me. Good luck with it, you'll love it when you can whizz it about .
-
There were some crazy bindings when I installed it that I'd missed. Worth making sure they're all cleared. I'm using the WH HOTAS with no extensions and more or less the same settings as Marshallman. Much better control of it now. It's a belter .

Going through the training and I'm trying to find out if I can disable the kneeboard type page on the left side? I can read the instructions up on the right hand side and hear them ok but I'd rather have the left page either switchable or to be adjustable if there's a way? Cracking job's been done on everything as far as I can see, no complaints from me other than I can't work this one out .

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Slippa replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Oh it’s looking tasty . -
Good shout on head-tracking Max. I started and learnt without any but it wasn’t long before I got trackIR sorted and now I wouldn’t be without it. I’m pretty ambidextrous, write with my left but fly with my right mostly. If and when I need to I’ll steady it with my left hand and use the mouse with my right. I got table mounts for all the bits too, very handy. A lot of people have much better setups than I do, some have sim-pits that make the mind boggle. One fella in Oz is building a sim-pit in the shell of a real aircraft. He’s not messing about . You’ll sort it out and make it work. Nice HOTAS btw. Oh and since you fly choppers too, check out Tobi & Eightballs OH-6A if you haven’t already, it’s a blast and won’t cost anything unless you wanna buy em a beer or whatnot.

I had them bound to the wrong setting. Trying to go through the taxi tutorial Jester had us in stitches frantically telling us ‘flaps out” over and over. Fumble fingers over here in a flap of my own. Glad someone posted the solution however simple, cheers. Had to have a cheeky take-off. It was like being in school all over again. Misbehaving having someone in my ear telling me to “get back in the corridor”. I’ve no idea where the corridor is, I was just gonna do a bit of sightseeing. Blowy up there too as I blew his canopy off as we got going. His fault really, he shoulda been quicker. It’ll all go in my report o course .

Not sure if it’ll be to the flight model but there are plans for more tinkering apparently . ETA: Not that it’s unflyable now, I’m happy with it.
