South Atlantic Terrain Terrain Look and Feel
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to Raz_Specter's topic in South Atlantic
I prefer the Satellite images too and is the main reason I got this map it wouldn't be the same otherwise -
investigating Searchlights don't seem to work. Please help.
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to Rockrend's topic in Bugs and Problems
I fell foul of this myself and took a long time to get it to work but now that I know about the generators needing to be very close it works like it should. What is the maximum altitude of the lights and is the Flakscheinwerfer and the Maschinensatz 33 the only units you need for a functional searchlight or are there others that work in conjunction such as the KDO and Freya stations? -
Hope you can help I am having constant CTD with the 3rd mission of the Mjolnir Response campaign and has happenned 5 or 6 times now and am wondering what might be causing it and if it is a known issue. Will try and skip it for now but I was enjoying the anti ship mission. I am running the latest Open beta MT version and haven't tried the mission on the Single thread DCS yet but might give it a try. Sometimes it happens when scrolling through the kneeboard pages but not always as it also just happened mid mission whilst engaging the ships with the RB-04 missiles. Have attached my log dcs.log.old

Thanks I have watched some of the Bunyap Sims stuff in the past and it's very good quality. Not seen this Viggen series though so will add it to my watch later list.

Thanks for doing these. The Viggen is quickly becoming my favourite and I especially love the quirky nature of the old school computer systems and the really ingeniously implemented autopilot and I wish I had bought it during the December sale when it was half price. I have it for another 12 days so wll enjoy trying to learn as much as I can in that time and your training missions are fantastic for getting a good solid grounding without having to read the manual from cover to cover.

Thanks for the info and the compliment and am glad I can still use the module and will try and ignore the visuals although it does detract somewhat from the experience but I know Heatblur are working round the clock on the Phantom so I can understand that their resources are stretched just now and I am confident it will be fixed in the not too distant future.

Wish I had known about this almost bought it in the sale but took it on a free trial instead. Does it cause damage to the wheels or is it simply a visual anomoly. I couold live with it if it is purely visual but not if it stop you being able to use it properly

A-10C Campaign: Operation Jackal
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to Quirkitized's topic in User Created Missions General
Yes you are right I discoverd the same thing myself and the problem is that the unit that spaws in to do the search of fhe buildings doesn't start following the waypoints and I tried various things to fix it and finally had to force it to go to waypoint 1 but it should have worked ok the way it was so must be a DCS bug. If you add a advanced waypoint action and command the unit to go to waypoint 1 when flag 2 is set which I think is the flag which gets set after the chopper lands but can't remeber exactly. It will work if you do these changes or I could upload my modded version but will have to ask the permission of the 2 authors first. -
Operation Ilium, A new mini-campaign for the UH-1H
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Thanks for fixing that trigger. I totally agree about the lack of models for the soldiers in the interior of the helicopter and it does kill the immersion a tad but at least it doesn't stop it being a fun way of using the Huey. Hopefully they will update it at some stage because ir really is a great module which has stood the test of time -
Operation Ilium, A new mini-campaign for the UH-1H
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to SpikeGondorff's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Second mission went smoothly apart from getting stuck after Pollux got back in and had to use the F10 broken trigger option and that let me progress after that. Very enjoyable mission and well made -

This look very promising and like the quality of the voice acting. Found a potential bug in the first mission when the trigger fired for the message "Good morning gentlemen welcome to Air Syria..." but I hadn't landed yet and was still at 1000 feet or more, so might just have been a one-off but just a heads up -

Still working pretty good with latest DCS version and enjoying listening to some 60's classics on my VHF radio -
Logbook -- a tool to record SP & MP progress
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to Ansirial's topic in DCS Modding
Hi Ansirial, was just wondering if it would be possible to add some of the freeware mod aircraft to the list as I have been using them a lot recently especially the VSN F104, Typhoon and Tornado, THE JAS39 Gripen, The Su-30 flanker family, The Su-57 Felon, the OV-10A Bronco, The Pucara, Embraer A29-B Super Tucano, The Mig-31 and MH-60R Seahawk. Have probably others I have forgotten about but would love to see the ones I mentioned thanks. -
Hi, thanks for doing these missions must have been a lot of work and are always going to be easily broken by a moving target such as a Mod which is constantly receiving updates. I think the UFC code changes you mentioned above have affected the logic of the cold & dark (mission number 1) as it gets stuck waiting for an input that I am unable to give. I had to remove the condition in the mission editor so that now you just press the spacebar to proceed but I am guessing there may be others which have the same UFC button checks?

Just wondering if anybody knew of a workaround for unicode letters causing the zip creation process to fail. I have to go through the failed ones and strip all the accented letters and replace with English non accented ones. Sorry if this isn't making sense but it definitely is causing an issue especially with mods of French origin which uses a lot of accented letters. The same thing happens with symbols and not sure if there is anything I can do. Have just recently discovered OMM but not got round to trying it yet aa I am very happy with OVGME even though it is quite old now . Does anybody use OMM and know if it has the same issues with Unicode characters? The Rafale mod by the Cuesta brothers had about 6 or 7 accented characters which when I removed them it made the archive without error.

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the first mission and I think you have done a fantastic job of bringing the campaign to life with things like the conversation options that help to flesh out the characters and the atc is very well done too. I had no issues at all apart from the first time I played it and I hadn't noticed the note about the radios but that is my own fault not yours. Am really looking forward to doing the rest of the missions and I have a feeling they are going to be challenging.

I am speaking about the actual filename being wrong in the texture folder "ARGENTINA 3ra Br". If you change the 29b_01_Norm.dds file to a29b_01_Norm.dds it will display without the error message on the texture preview screen. I never touched the lua.file just read it

+1 Noticed that Mount Pleasant had the arrestor cables after getting the South Atlantic map in the 15 years sale and would love to see them functional. Surely it will just be a case of transposing the technology they developed with the carriers to land based runways but I might be over simplifying. Hoping this can be done

Just noticed another issue which has been bugging me for months and it has caused the aircraft window to not show up in the mission editor when adding a new aircraft group. I seem to have solved it by deleting the file loading-window-1.png from the skins folder as I can't see an other mods which have this file so am guessing it is an error. Anyway if you don't want to delete the file you could try renaming it to .xxx or something. I seem to have the aircraft window back in the ME so hopefully this helps others who may be experiencing the same issue. I noticed somebody on Github who had reported the same thing

I came across this problem too and it was an error in the filename "a29b_01_Norm.dds". The author had omitted the a at the beginning of the filename and it now displays as it should.

I totally agree I just tried to make a Recon mission which meant staying 10 mins across the channel and taking off from Odiham and I ran out of fuel over the Isle of Wight on the return leg so it's just not enough fuel to do anything useful across the channel and get back. The manual mentions " 30, 45, 90 or 170 gallons drop tanks may be fitted onto the aircraft for long-range flights". But we just have the 45 gallon one unfortunately.

Thanks and observations
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to MikeRomeoSierra1974's topic in Bf 109 K-4 Jagdflieger Campaign
That must be really annoying for you and I hope this time they leave them as they are for good. Not sure why they need to keep changing them but I'm sure they must have their reasons but you have my sympathies -
Have just finished this excellent campaign and had only a few very minor issues most of which are outwith your making such as the ATC tower frequencies on the Normandy 2.0 map being different meaning you can't talk to the tower which is no big deal. Also the stuttering on the mission with the huge formation of bombers which is more my ageing computer to blame. Had a blast and also got a surprising number of victories and I find the BF-109 to be my favourite of the DCS fighters in terms of how stable it feels and the speed helps enormously at times to get out of bad situations. Once you master taking off and landing which is always going to be a challenge with such a narrow track then the rest of it isn't too hard and it rewards good handling. Forgot to put the rpm onto automatic a couple of times and overrevved the engine but you learn from your mistakes. Thanks for putting this together and I am looking to get V for victory next.

fixed Landing gear collapses after repair
MikeRomeoSierra1974 replied to BlackBaron46's topic in Bugs and Problems
I am finding the same issue and it basically means requesting repair is pointless as you get a broken landing gear which in all probability is a worse fault than the one you wanted repaired. Hope they fix this soon but until then the repair function is next to useless. It seems as if the process of plonking the aircraft back down after repair causes the damage to the undercarriage struts
