The AI MiG-21 is a bad joke of an UFO capable of 9G sustained turns with no speed loss. It would give a F-22 a run for his money. We've tested and reported it, answer is always the same "wait for GFM" for years now, like dynamic campaign, Vulkan, you get my drift. At least tweak it a little so it's not so absurd, but no, too much effort.

If you're not going to participate in a constructive way, kindly go be wrong somewhere else. Thanks.

VR will always be inferior to a 2D monitor: you're exchanging visual quality for immersion. Is that trade worth it? Only you can answer that question. With that said, Quest 2 is an older headset now, and it's clearly falling behing newer ones. It was serviceable for almost 2 years for me, but the moment I tried pancake lenses I knew I couldn't go back (using a Quest 3 now). Doesn't matter how much you pump your settings, the physical resolution of the headset will always limit your visuals. In my case, the Quest 3 is better than the Quest 2, but not by an amazing margin. I'm sure high end headsets must provide amazing quality, but you need an equally high end pc to extract the performance. What are your specs?

V76 by any chance? Yes it broke for me too. A quick search will reveal this is a common occurrence. What's worked for me was to reinstall the Meta desktop app. No problems since.

ED seem to be trying to fullfill some checklist, releasing half-baked features with barebones functionality only so they can say "hey, we gave you what you wanted". Quick Action Generator: slow, cumbersome, for some weird reason it loads the terrain first (?) before giving you the option to select another one. DTC: primitive and barely functional. Mission Save: uselees for anything more complicated than you alone on the map bombing some static units. Most recent patch: +20 C° CPU temperature for AMD users somehow. The now unified DCS version is still Open Beta, they just changed the name.

Great mod! I've always wanted to fly these planes (MiG-25 and MiG-31) and now I finally can. Thank you.

Looks nice. Maybe in 3-4 years when it's worth it. No more preorders for me.

Great work!

Please help me understand CPU performance
diego999 replied to Shibbyland's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Your CPU will boost its clock when it needs to. You don't need to overclock or do anything, your 14700k is great for DCS. -
First timer in VR world - Which one to choose?

This is good advice. -
OpenXR Toolkit, Meta Quest 3, and DCS
diego999 replied to Hootman9104's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
When did you try? I tested IL-2 last week with OpenComposite (I was trying to bypass the nefarious SteamVR) and OpenXR Toolkit kicked in on its own when the game opened. It was a pleasant surprise. -
OpenXR Toolkit, Meta Quest 3, and DCS
diego999 replied to Hootman9104's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I still use OpenXR Toolkit, pity it's not supported anymore by its creator (not critisizing mbucchia here, he's done a lot for VR in DCS). Quad Views Foveated is an alternative tool made by the same author, but in my case I get worse performance so I don't use it. Turbo Mode eliminates ground stuttering almost completely, and the overlay provides in-game CPU and GPU frametimes. Those two settings I cannot live without. Post proccesing to simulate sunglasses it also comes in handy, as half the modules lack the feature. -
Not at all. I've been using Quest Link for 3 years. I've only had problems when my cable died. VD is a good option, but I tried it and never could match the visual clarity of the cable link. Besides, ASW is far superior to what VD has. I'd say try both and see which one offers better results.

Security Professional. Using Norton. It's just a false positive, like every other time this has already happened. Wait two weeks until your particular AV whitelists the file if you don't want to exclude DCS folders.

Aside from specs/price discussion, I think this is a step in the right direction. VR won't be "truly" immersive as long as you have to endure a giant brick glued to your forehead for several hours. Rather than crazy resolution or bigger FOV, I'm more interested in a smaller/lighter headset down the road.

Welcome to the amazing joy of flying in VR and the horrendous pain of something not working properly and having to try the 150 different settings that affect it to find which one is responsible. Both at the same time.

DCS fps monitor tells you how many real frames are being rendered.
-
Because variable fps in VR are vomit inducing, so every headset tries to mantain native refresh rate (90 Hz in your case). If your pc can't keep up it goes into motion smoothing, where it renders half the refresh rate (45) and inserts a "guessed" frame between two real ones. You still see 90 fps but only half of those are real. That leads to artifacts when the fake frames are not predicted accurately. Never used a HTC Vive Focus Vision but I guess 25fps must be some kind of an emergency mode and surely it looks pretty bad, as most frames presented before your eyes are fake.

How about a 4070ti Super? 16GB of VRAM at a reasonable price (if you can get one). And from the benchmarks I've seen, it performs better than a 5070.

Upgrade Ram from 32 to 64gb
diego999 replied to felstrikeraut's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
2x32 is better, especially considering AMD is more sensitive to RAM than Intel. But 4x16 should work if you can get the same kit you already have. I went from 32 to 64 some time ago and I can tell you it's a good improvement. Not night and day "I can't believe this" better, but an improvement nonetheless. -
Are you using OpenXR Toolkit?
-
I really prefer this approach instead of ED's habit of hyping things to the moon and back -even to the point of borderline misleading about features and quality- and then blaming players for having unrealistic expectations. Aerges have a history of providing. Let's have some patience, it's going to be awesome.

DLSS 3 frame generation - is it working?
diego999 replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Dude spent thousands of dollars in a 4090 only to enable DLSS and see everything blurry. I can reach smooth 72fps if I'm alone in Caucasus too. Problems come with newer maps, newer planes, complex missions and (especially) multiplayer.
