  1. When did you try? I tested IL-2 last week with OpenComposite (I was trying to bypass the nefarious SteamVR) and OpenXR Toolkit kicked in on its own when the game opened. It was a pleasant surprise.
  2. I still use OpenXR Toolkit, pity it's not supported anymore by its creator (not critisizing mbucchia here, he's done a lot for VR in DCS). Quad Views Foveated is an alternative tool made by the same author, but in my case I get worse performance so I don't use it. Turbo Mode eliminates ground stuttering almost completely, and the overlay provides in-game CPU and GPU frametimes. Those two settings I cannot live without. Post proccesing to simulate sunglasses it also comes in handy, as half the modules lack the feature.
  3. Not at all. I've been using Quest Link for 3 years. I've only had problems when my cable died. VD is a good option, but I tried it and never could match the visual clarity of the cable link. Besides, ASW is far superior to what VD has. I'd say try both and see which one offers better results.
  4. Security Professional. Using Norton. It's just a false positive, like every other time this has already happened. Wait two weeks until your particular AV whitelists the file if you don't want to exclude DCS folders.
  5. Aside from specs/price discussion, I think this is a step in the right direction. VR won't be "truly" immersive as long as you have to endure a giant brick glued to your forehead for several hours. Rather than crazy resolution or bigger FOV, I'm more interested in a smaller/lighter headset down the road.
  6. Welcome to the amazing joy of flying in VR and the horrendous pain of something not working properly and having to try the 150 different settings that affect it to find which one is responsible. Both at the same time.
  7. DCS fps monitor tells you how many real frames are being rendered.
  8. Because variable fps in VR are vomit inducing, so every headset tries to mantain native refresh rate (90 Hz in your case). If your pc can't keep up it goes into motion smoothing, where it renders half the refresh rate (45) and inserts a "guessed" frame between two real ones. You still see 90 fps but only half of those are real. That leads to artifacts when the fake frames are not predicted accurately. Never used a HTC Vive Focus Vision but I guess 25fps must be some kind of an emergency mode and surely it looks pretty bad, as most frames presented before your eyes are fake.
  9. How about a 4070ti Super? 16GB of VRAM at a reasonable price (if you can get one). And from the benchmarks I've seen, it performs better than a 5070.
  10. 2x32 is better, especially considering AMD is more sensitive to RAM than Intel. But 4x16 should work if you can get the same kit you already have. I went from 32 to 64 some time ago and I can tell you it's a good improvement. Not night and day "I can't believe this" better, but an improvement nonetheless.
  11. Are you using OpenXR Toolkit?
  12. I really prefer this approach instead of ED's habit of hyping things to the moon and back -even to the point of borderline misleading about features and quality- and then blaming players for having unrealistic expectations. Aerges have a history of providing. Let's have some patience, it's going to be awesome.
  13. Dude spent thousands of dollars in a 4090 only to enable DLSS and see everything blurry. I can reach smooth 72fps if I'm alone in Caucasus too. Problems come with newer maps, newer planes, complex missions and (especially) multiplayer.
  14. Best? 9800X3D Next best? 7800X3D Good enough? 9700X
  15. What he means with standalone is playing games without being connected (through cable, Airlink or VD) to your PC. Playing DCS, Skyrim, Fallout, etc. through Airlink or VD isn't standalone: the GPU in your computer is still rendering those games.
  16. Yes you are correct. The regular not S Quest 3 has a very bad facial interface. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
  17. OpenXR toolkit has an inbuilt overlay with GPU and CPU frametimes.
  18. I have a Quest 3. You are absolutely on point with the sensation. The stock facial interface is terrible. An alternative one is almost mandatory should you get a Quest headset. About Meta, I don't care but I understand other people's concern. The headset itself is very good. Clarity from edge to edge of the lenses is the main selling point, at a reasonable price. Shame it's made by a shady company. The Quest 3S is a Frankenstein made with Quest 2 leftovers. And it has the same fresnel lenses. Do not buy.
  19. It will work but I don't think it's worth it to buy a new headset with fresnel lenses in 2025. I'd look for other options.
  20. Hola.
  21. I had a 3060ti until a week ago. You can play fine, accepting there's going to be compromises. Have you tried reducing your FoV? You can cut a good chunk of the total pixel count. It depends of the facial interface, how close your eyes are to the lenses, and the general shape of your face. In my case, I can't even see the difference with 0.85 or higher, so that's a nice boost right there. Start by lowering in 0.05 increments. So, 0.95, 0.90, .0.85, 0.80 until you start to see the black box. When you get to that point, it's too much, go back one step. You can do that with Oculus Tray Tool or Oculus Debug Tool. QVFR should be a good option too if your cpu can take the hit.
  22. Single thread.exe doesn't exist anymore. The .exe in the "normal" bin folder is multithread too and it's only there for legacy purposes.
  23. Absolutely. DCS is ruining performance and choking VRAM with overkill textures we can't even tell apart from another half its size. It's nonsense really.
