Wow, that looks pretty amazing. Why the heck have I been trying to turn DCS into the old "Harpoon" when there are professionals doing it for me. -
ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

You can edit a line in the Ship lua to allow them to sail closer together. But I'm not sure how this can affect game play in regards things like evasive maneuvers .But I frequently forget to change is back after taking pictures and videos and have not noticed any ill affects during game play I'll post the line later. I can't remember what it's called atm. But if you look a a few ship luas it might be named in the "notes" I do know that the value for the Nimitz carrier is 1048.7. I normally use 148.0 for pictures and videos when I need the ships close. Here is the line to edit: GT.distFindObstacles = xxxx.x -
It should work well as an ai unit as well
-
Thanks, I was just curious.

Do you happen to know exactly which version on the Tu-16 that model is. (looks great by the way) I've seen photos without and with the glass nose but it's hard to tell what variant is what. But having a model with the glass nose and tail gun (I hope ) is awesome, because the H-6J model could be used for more modern variants in a pinch

Nice

@tripod3 WOW, I didn't realize you did a new plane as well. I thought it was just the new missile. Brilliant job. Plane and missile worked perfect on first anti ship test. I did a little messing around and came up with a Tu-16C using the H-6J model and the skin that's in the user file section. I need to make a few tweaks but I'll send you the file. Again great job on the Tu-4k and missile

Nice work as always. Any chance you can do the Raduga KSR-2 (NATO reporting name: AS-5 "Kelt") next. I want to do the KRM-2 (MV-1) decoy missile of the AS-5 to create a mission based on the Tom Clancy novel "Red Storm Rising" I'm going to try and do a decoy version of your KS-1, it looks pretty close to the AS-5. I'll send you the files if I can make it work. And many thanks for this.

I recall there being a Badger skin for the H-6, But yes, a proper Tu-16 is needed

Hermes getting some ASW support from HMAS Melbourne And CVS-16 USS Lexington. Hopefully the S-2 will be available soon.

Nice find on the F-8 picture. I'd forgot about the folding nose cone bit on the UK Phantom

I couldn't help myself

I found this at one site. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/McDonnell_Douglas_Phantom_in_UK_service "The RN was happy with the Phantom as its Sea Vixen replacement, given that the type had been operational in the fleet air defense role with the USN since 1961. USN Phantoms had also successfully undertaken touch-and-go landings on HMS Hermes and HMS Victorious. During her 1966 Far East deployment, Victorious was able to successfully launch and recover USN Phantoms from the carrier USS Ranger. The RAF was less enthusiastic, as the Phantom was not optimized for the close air support role, and had been selected as its Hunter replacement more as a way of decreasing the per-unit cost of the overall UK order." Not sure if Hermes and Victorious used the the same catapults but Victorious was a bit longer. I think the other issues was even had the catapults been upgraded the UK F-4s would have have had to operate with a much lower fuel load and their time on station would have be much lower than the Sea Vixen they were replacing. I wonder if the F-8 Crusader was ever considered? They were able to operate from the Essex Class refits that were not much bigger.
-
Yeah I might have had it backwards.
-
I'm not even sure they tried landing the F-4 on Hermes in the trials. I recall reading something about the F-4(s) being loaded in port. I can make it work in game with the ai but you really have to get the aircraft weight down.
-
You really do not want to miss that first wire

Ok so mixed results with my Sea Sprite. The gear did deploy for landing but helicopter "got stuck" about 2-3 feet off the ground. I'll try some older collision shells later tonight. The only thing in the lua I can think of is the landing gear, but I would think you'd see an issue on take off if that were the case. Or maybe something with the weight/flight model. It still did a 20-30 second "bounce" in the air before it started the final landing process and got "stuck" The bouncing in the air thing has always been there and is not something I've seen with other helicopters. This may also have something to do with the DCS update. But TeTeT is really good about getting stuff fixed so hopefully it won't be long. I'll post an update if I have any luck later tonight.
-
I'll test mine tonight and see what's happening with it. While the guys have done a great job with the VWV MOD I have slightly different version to match the naming of my other installed mods and play style.
-
That's new as I've seen it land before, but that may have been a version or two ago. I do recall it taking a long time to finally put it's wheels on the ground. Like long enough I thought there was some thing wrong, but then it landed. I'll try and test it over the next few days

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS

Funny you should ask. I have, but the last update broke the new SAMs. The ships still work and the new sensors will control the stock ED missiles. But my updated Sea Sparrow and SM-2ER/MR missiles are not working correctly post update. The missile were modified versions (earlier blocks) of Currenthill's SM-2MR which also may have been affected. But that needs to be confirmed by others. I did pull all my version when I checked his TicoCMP but I may have missed something. My first attempt to fix things failed horribly so I need to confirm if it's just me or a bigger issues. But PM if you'd like to help test the new radars with the stock missiles. I have updates for Sacramento, Bainbridge, Kidd and Bowen. I have also added the ships radars to CH's RWR list so they can be identified -
I didn’t even know you could change the weight of an aircraft during a mission. So this is something I plan on exploring. And the triggers and scripting stuff in general. I’ve setup some basic triggers in missions, but I’ve not tried running scripts yet. Still trying to wrap my head around all the mod stuff. But if I have any success I will share what I find.

This is very interesting. I might be able to use it to force the ai STOVL planes into the desired landing mode on carriers because this is determined by aircraft weight. This issue I'm having is when planes return to the carrier after their mission some plane try a vertical landing while others try a short rolling landing depending on their weight do to fuel used and weapons dropped. As you can imagine this leads to a bit of a mess on the flight deck. But if I could raise (or lower) the weight of all planes approaching the carrier this could force all the planes into the same landing mode.

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill

Have you tried Admiral189's LHA-6 USS America Mod? Not sure if it works for multi player. But if it does I have multiple deck layout I use with ai asset. I can't recall if my helicopter layout had 16 or 20 spawn points but it was a lot. I could add more spots to Tarawa but that would break IC and not work for MP right? PM If you'd like expanded runway lua for the Admiral's LHA-6 -

Check this thread. CV-17 and 18 are in there. There is also a CV-16 livery for the Russian carrier in the DCS user files null
