  1. Agreed. Thats pretty much the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a Pimax Crystal yet. I was just doing some research on the Valve "Deckard" (as it's currently known) and there's been a bit of talk around it the last few days. Currently looking good for a 2025 launch at a $1200 price point. Sounds like it won't require base stations (which I really like) and will have some Steam Deck functionality. Hopefully all that is true and we hear more about the specs in the near future.
  2. I'll probably stay with Windows 10 until I get a non-WMR headset for now. I have the media creation tool downloaded, I just hope it doesn't include that last update. I thought about getting the Quest 3, but the reviews I've read and watched say it's not as good as the G2 when it comes to clarity. I've been waiting for the new Valve headset to come out, but they are really taking their time with it. Might just have to go with the Quest 3 or Pimax Crystal if there is no Valve offering this year.
  3. Unfortunately, this update installed for me and broke WMR. Super annoyed about it because now I pretty much have to do a complete reinstall. Tried uninstalling the update several times and it just fails. Would have been nice if MS gave us a heads-up first. I won't hold out hope that it will be fixed in the next patch. Really hoping that Steam comes through on a new headset soon.
  4. Apologies if this is in the wrong place. My PC (Win10) did a windows update this evening and I attempted to play DCS afterwards. Noticed a issue with the headset and tried to launch WMR there was a message saying that WMR needs an update (there weren't any updates). Anyone else run into this? 5. Have you read through this thread regarding DLSS4? Lots of favorable results as far as visual and performance improvements. Keep in mind that DLSS4 is not officially supported in DCS yet. AFAIK, frame generation is also not supported in VR.
  6. Definitely VRAM. For VR, 16GB is minimum IMO. If you are looking at 7800 XT, I would wait until the 9070 XT pricing is announced (supposedly) next month. You could also see if you can find a good used RTX 3090, 4080 Super, or 9700 XTX. VR should get a reasonable performance bump once Vulkan and DLSS4 (at least for Nvidia users) is released.
  7. This really would be nice.
  8. Fair enough. I was just curious as it seems a lot of work would essentially be done twice. Really looking forward to this module. The Impala and Rooivalk above is a nice surprise too.
  9. Thats too bad that FSR is so bad. Watching several reviews of the 5080 against the 4080 and 9700 XTX, the XTX is actually a really good card and holding up very well in other games. AMD has a real good shot here to surprise people.
  10. Keep in mind that DLSS currently works in DCS and that DLSS4 will work with older cards. Just not the Frame Gen which to my knowledge doesn't work with VR anyway. So you could look for a good deal on a used RTX 3090. FSR 4 is likely also being launched with the new 9070 cards. Not sure how accurate the early claims are, but several online sources CLAIM that the 9070 XT is 10% slower than the 5080. That would put it in 4080 territory.
  11. Won't be much different than the 4080 Super. Current reviews are 10% better on average. Rumors are already starting for a 5080 Ti/Super with 24GB VRAM.
  12. Agreed! Is there any collaboration being done with AVIRON who is doing the Kfir?
  13. "But keep silent after so many years" To be fair, they have provided several updates. IIRC, there was a newsletter about it last year and it was in the previous Q&A. It's also been talked about during other interviews and looks like it may have been planned for initial release in 2023/2024 (Jan Newsletters). I think this is just one of those things where it is near impossible to be any more specific, given how low level the API is.
  14. Have to agree. That's probably why they never said anything this time around.
  15. Not going to lie, I was a little disappointed when there was no mention of Vulkan in the video. I too thought some of the explosions looked different from previous videos though. Both the 2023 and 2024 Jan newsletters mention the Vulkan API, let's hope 2025 is the year.
  16. This 100%. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
  17. Interesting. I did not see that.
  18. I read the FAQ and agree it can be perceived as being FF, but It's not stated. The video also specifically states FF for the F-15C.
  19. The video also does NOT state that the F-35 is an FF module. So I would assume this is more along the lines of an FC3 module.
  20. There are several threads on the subject already, but why does there have to be "new boundaries"? This is more than likely an exception to the rule. I'm guessing that it was most likely requested. That doesn't (and shouldn't) mean that any boundaries have or should be shifted. I would think of this module being more of an FC3 module than an FF module.
  21. Mods in DCS, like the F-35, F-22 and others are kind of a pain to maintain and often cause issues. So there is a big benefit to having an officially supported module. I'm sure there is also benefit to sitting in a virtual F-35 cockpit as opposed to a F-16 cockpit for F-35 pilots. Even if everything else is close guestimations (which ED have pretty much said), ED obviously saw value in making an exception from their usual stance on creating modules. And the only logical explanation is that it was probably requested.
  22. Yeh, none of the classified stuff into DCS World. There are already F-35 and F-22 mods in DCS. A $4000 computer for trainee pilots to practice landings, take offs, formation, BFM, flight routines etc. etc. is much better than tying up a $3 million sim to do the same stuff when those sims can be better utilized for the classified trainings.
  23. I too think it was likely requested by a customer. The classified stuff can remain classified. It is likely the flight characteristics that is being modeled.
