Trying to install - what is the "main install directory?" What is the file path I am following? Thank you.

the radar already scans at max range left and right in RWS. Moving that scan zone will not change anything, just up and down. The cone will move left or right with the tdc slew in TWS. At least it appears to on the b scope.

I wish we had the option to laugh react posts because you deserve it.

Time accelerator? Clearly these planes are more capable and I have more to learn than I thought.

Exactly. I *should* have the advantage. Haha. I pushed my engagement ranges out by another 5 to 10nm and that seems to have helped some I think. I wish I had more flight time available to really test things out but I don't think it's going to pan out for me in that regard any time soon. My biggest issue with managing flight range at the moment is that it's just so dang boring going that slowly, and takes for ever to get anywhere. But that's a "me " problem I think. 420 nm @ 250 knots = 1 hour 40 minutes and 48 seconds? Pass. LOL

I wouldn't say a full handle but I'm getting more of it I think. Although today I am having trouble completing missions that were a breeze before after I accidentally restarted my bear trap campaign. RedFor's Fox-3's are giving me trouble where I did not feel that threatened by them before. I don't know if this is because I am just lower energy when the fight starts or if I'm doing something different. But that's a problem for another thread I suppose.

I tried the next mission in the campaign which calls for a similar flight from Vaizani to Mozdok (Beslan). I took 2 tanks again and was able to do a much better job controlling my speed up to my cruising altitude, and maintaining it from there. I made it to the bullseye with a decent amount of fuel in the bags. definitely not 4500 tho. Don't they start with a couple hundred more than that? I eventually had to Jettison them in combat and was shot down by an SAM before starting the return leg. I'm not sure how much fuel I Had left at that point.

First off thank you for the info and write up. I know it takes time to do so thank you for taking it to help me out. I'm trying to take all your tips to heart and be conscious of them while playing. I'm working my way through the f15c bear trap campaign and just finished up mission 6. This was a really long flight so I used all I've learned in here to conserve fuel to reach the target & etc. To debreif, Took of from vaizani* or however it's spelt, target waypoint was at Nal'Chik or something like that, about a 20 minute flight from take off. I took 2 tanks. AB for takeoff with flaps down, cut ab at 250knts and start pitching up to about 7-10* around 275-300knts. I'm not as precise as I think I need to be yet but this has been working. I stay down till around 500knts and start climbing. I'm not doing great at keeping the speed constant-ish but I am getting better. I climb to around 35k feet and cruise there at 350knts as this is mission parameters for timing the SEAD strikes correctly. I'm not great at maintaining it without AB but, keeping an eye on the nozzle gauge has helped me keep AB use at a minimum. Tanks were empty at the target waypoint basically, dropped them and started engaging enemy CAP aircraft. 4 kills, 2 bug outs, but I was basically out of gas by the end of the fight, which I feel like went fairly quickly. I was on E before I made it back to the mountains, and had to eject over hostile territory. I'm not sure what I could have done differently to ensure a safe RTB. I did a little measuring in google earth and it's only about 150 miles from Vaizani to Nalchik IRL. I feel like that's not a massive distance. I can drive further than that on a tank of gas. So I think I must still be doing something wrong to have been out of fuel like I was.

Thanks for the help guys. I really appreciate it. I did a couple campaign missions last night, and was able to run an uncontested CAP and land with plenty of fuel. Similarly I did a second mission, and was able to hit my way points and engage some pop up bandits with out running low on gas so I think I'm making progress, especially with regard to the climb and cruise. Mission parameters dictated an altitude of A25 so I didn't get to fully climb to 30+ but I can see the path there. I didn't get into any long bvr engagements, as the F-pole maneuver with the 15C seems to dispatch the AI pretty effectively (Lethal launches at like 15 miles). I don't think holding fire till that close would work against players but It's working against AI.

Okay, I've definitely been overusing the AB then. Essentially I'm running max AB from take off until cruising altitude, usually 30k to 45k ft if its up to me, however many of the missions that I'm flying have targets from 1k to 25k feet so I usually end up quite a bit lower (25k to 30k or less). So max AB up to cruising altitude, then I drop it down to MIL until I find bandits. Once I drop tanks and start BVR maneuvers is when the fuel really starts to disappear. I can usually get 2, MAYBE 3 encounters in before I'm out of gas. I've run out of gas mid fight before as some of the fights I've been in went to the merge. From what I've learned, as I understand it for BVR the faster the better, but maybe there are times I should be backing off to save some fuel? I know it's bad practice, but at least for dealing with AI and having enough fuel to complete missions I've been hanging onto the external tanks until they are depleted and then dropping them, even if I am losing performance in the fight. Okay, I turned on the loud after burner sounds in the audio menu, and that definitely helps make it more obvious when the AB has kicked in. I will keep AoA in mind when at higher altitudes or lower speeds or just in general. I haven't been paying much attention to that except when the water line is a whole-ass 5+ degrees above the path indicator. I'm pretty okay with the concept of thinner air at higher altitudes, and how that translates to less fuel burn, faster AMRAAMs, etc. Cruising I'm fine with, I can conserve fuel while traveling, but once the fight is on it seems to run out almost immediately. I need to work on the fast climb though. For now I've been keeping it about 7.5* to keep from losing to much airspeed while climbing - usually with some degree of AB engaged. Thank you. I've been through the f15c tutorials provided for by the Grim Reapers youtube channel (among others), but I will go through this set as well.

I need help in this regard. I'm a newer player and, well, my call sign might as well be "Bingo" because I'm always out of gas, and I haven't yet learned to manage my airspeed. Can you point me in the direction of some tips or advice to help better manage both airspeed and fuel with the F15C?

Compatibility issues between Standalone F15C and FC3?
Gilligan replied to Gilligan's topic in New User Briefing Room
Ah. I didn't see the edit. Let me check. Andd Looks Good! They are right where you say they should be. I've just been searching in the wrong place. D'oh! This ended up being kind of silly. Many thanks for your direction and patience. -
Compatibility issues between Standalone F15C and FC3?
Gilligan replied to Gilligan's topic in New User Briefing Room
They are not. There is little to no F15c Content available to me in the FC3 tab. Just a hot start, cold start, and free flight, with one option for bomber intercept. There are more options in the standalone F15C that I cannot access is with FC3 enabled, like 1v1 bvr, srike escort, and 2v2 guns, etc. I have attached images of what I'm seeing with FC3 enabled vs disabled. -
Howdy, I'm having an issue with compatibility between the standalone F15C module and the Flaming Cliffs 3 Module. (TLDR; Standalone F15c mission content is not accessible when FC3 module is enabled. Content is restored by disabling the module but would like for both to be available if possible.) I'm playing on steam, as some time ago I had picked up the free steam edition + the F15C module while on sale for less than $10. The game sat in my steam library for a few months until another friend of mine, whom I play other games online with frequently, also expressed interest in DCS. We decided to go ahead and install the game and start learning to fly together. For solo practice during this time I was typically flying the missions found in the "instant action" tab for the f15C, of which there are several scenarios that are great for practice, and that I have been really enjoying. We made it through a couple successful weeks of these before deciding to pick up the FC3 Module while it was on sale recently. After downloading and installing the module, I booted up DCS but was dismayed to find that ALL of the mission and campaign content for the F15C standalone module had been removed from the in game menus. I was able to restore the content for the F15C by disabling the FC3 module in the steam DLC manager, so it's not the end of the world to re-enable/disable the FC3 module when I want to use some of it's content vs what is found in the standalone F15C, however if there is away to leave FC3 enabled without removing the standalone F15C mission content from the game, that would be great. Is there anyone who has relevant knowledge or experience with this or similar issues who might be able to recommend some corrective actions to remedy this? Thank you.
