Mainly contrast and true black. But FOV much worse.
-
The measured FOV of Super 57ppd is 119 degree. So you need to find out the measured FOV of the headset you looks for compare.
-
Also ordered Super 57PPD 120FOV, while hesitating to switch to 50PPD 135FOV.

I won’t be disappointed. And always appreciate the new features and bug fixes with each release. 5090 and Pimax Super is on shopping list …but still look for significant graphics leap which is not UNREALISTIC if you look at what the visual can be achieved with MFS2020 or 2024. Just matter of time while ED worked on it since 2019 publicly if I don’t remember incorrectly. Rome won’t be build in a day while that is a bit too long.

It would be quite troublesome as daily basis use with additional headset. -
Megane X superlight 8k DisplayPort OLED ultra compact headset
kerlcat replied to winghunter's topic in Virtual Reality
This new headset seems coming with smaller FOV(even smaller than Q3) which is killing flight sim. For me, that’s even worse than lacking eye tracking. -
Yes, new version now only has E and F to improve ghosting issue. As soon as ED updates this version in new release, it won’t be a tech issue then.
-
Thanks for pointing it out. Yes, my expression was not even close to reality. The current graphic engine is like from last century and not everyone can afford top tier GPU like 4090 or coming 5090 to max out visual experience. Cross fingers to ED developers get it overhauled sooner.

Does that mean those to be removed in next patch or formally…;-)

Which VR headset do you primarily use for playing DCS?
kerlcat replied to NineLine's topic in Virtual Reality
Quest3 will give you much better visual especially the bigger sweet spot, without new issues. I compared against to my friend ‘s Quest2. Then go for it. it’s a safe choice. Crystal light should be also a great choice which is not an expensive device as long as you got a high performance PC. -

Quest3 for now while moving back to PCVR for DCS and MSF2020. Preordered Crystal Super. Hope it will be released in Q4 and with decent quality. -
You are right on version number
-
Yep definitely possible. But that’s rare case. The point is high expectation on sooner release of Vulcan, unless ED planned the release with 4.0
-
If 3.0 means engine change + others, then Vulcan is only 2 versions away which is 6 wks for 2.9.9 + another 6 wks… keep positive thinking. Hahaha

Are You Planning on Buying Pimax Crystal Super or Crystal Light?
kerlcat replied to jww123's topic in Virtual Reality
I intent to hands on Super instead of Light for its small form besides high PPD. Light or Crystal are too bulky for me. Yes, 5090 seems a must have to Super. Will see if I would have to return it after trial on Super in a few month. -
Thanks for sharing. Understand nothing comes easy. Looking forward what will be the big thing in coming 3.0 w/ or w/o Vulcan.
-
ED team’s seriously and publicly development on Vulcan started around 2019, right? And the current release version of 2.9.7 is to the edge of 3.0. Hard to believe Vulcan engine won’t be released with 3.0 in a few months. It’s my purely speculation or say…a strong wish. But better to lower expectation on performance boost as ED warned, even it did come with 3.0. At least Vulcan has way better potential for performance and visual improvement.
-
Thanks for reply. Not expecting a date could be forecasted at this early stage. Look for more insides in Oct if possible.
-
Cannot wait for Super! Could we expect Oct 1 (Q4 ) for shipping, given the development on track?
-
@Graphics thank you for sharing with such transparency and ED team ‘s efforts to get so much great stuff done or to be delivered. People ‘s anxious, disappointment, and angry are high expectations to the great products including giant improvement in core performance! Looking forward more to come!
-
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward your review on Super late this year if Pimax could beat their plan.
-
Thanks, well noted! Looking forward Multithreading became started by default soon.
-
My own option: I support Unified version which I don’t have to maintain 2 bulky versions on precious SSD or wait for months till a stable version released. And when ED notified the “planned” update, which did come with “subject to change”. It ‘s unusual to see a planned SW released on time given its nature. Looking forward next release!

DP connectivity, high res display, eye tracking? Hope this year Pimax 12K could be released without those short-comes as Crystal has. Bulky & weight is still something they should consider to improve. If they did well, a price tag of $2000 won’t be too hard to swallow as this PCVR market is so niche.
