  1. Got it. So 7800x3D should be still decent till 5090 coming. Decided to skip 4090 anyway. Wish new engine upgrade to Vulcan could make 3090 alive again sometime next year.
  2. Thank you for sharing. That eased my anxiety :-). Will focus on enjoy a bi instead of twitching all the time.
  3. Thanks a lot. You are right. It's very smooth and just feel very strange to see it's CPU(7800x3D) bound instead of typical GPU. Yes I could switch on or off with ASW as you instructed to see the real fps by changing different setting. Just wonder why 7800x3D is so easy to bound performance, given I don't have a 4090.
  4. Something wrong with "CPU bound" while it shouldn't. Anyone experinced simiar issue and solved it? After upgraded to 2.9 stable, toggled those new features back and forth and the smoothness is impressive. But FPS seems locked to 36 when entering into any maps and kept same even I switched off those new features of DLAA or SSS etc, and set all CPU loaded setting to minimal. Checked DCS internal fps counter, showing CPU bound (main thread). It was always GPU bound with same rig in past 2 yrs. BIOS/drivers are latest. I must have messed up something with config. Don't wanna bother anyone before my own homework. Thought I saw someone encounted similar issue but I could find it out after a full day of search.
  5. ED just released 2.9 OB w/ DLSS/DLAA/SSS which is huge improvement besides MT released earlier this year. Believe Vulkan is their next big thing! And they seem not likely to share a timeline in advance. More realistic wish could be having stable 2.9 released with major bugs fixed in a few wks. Then Vulkan by yr end, or 1Q’24.
  6. Honestly to say. Q3 is far from a perfect headset for DCS. Aero or Crystal could be a step closer. But since those 2 (w/ 1000-1500 price tag) are far from perfect as well, around $500, Q3 might be the best one for now from a major OEM. Would like to use it till next gen PCVR released (at least in a yr or two?) No matter the feedbacks on actual experience, the fact is we don’t have a lot of options in the market yet. So I just “blindly” pre-order it… anyway it’s better than Q2 which quite some people are using it with DCS today. FYI. That’s just my logic.
  7. @sze5003 will arrive mid Oct or so. Also mainly spend time on flight sim w/VR. But my pc rig is in another city so have to start from standalone before taking it back home later this month. Yes I will try anyway with my PC and let you know how it goes. Before that, guess we could see others’ feedback.
  8. Ordered 128G mainly for PCVR, and occasionally standalone for a few titles. Will see how it works out…visual/performance etc. Selling out Pico4 very soon.
  9. I also planned to buy QP replacing my Rift S to utilize my investment in Oculus(Meta). But its low spec of resolution and lack of DP connection pushed me to Pico as it’s so damn bargain v.s.even significantly reduced $1000. Anyway this gen is for transitional use. Looking for next gen…
  10. Just recall when iPhone released, so many people said it’s bad idea to remove a keyboard from a cellphone…”who wanna input on a pcs of glass? It would fail by doing so.” True, a tech evolution could failed to make a chance. And many more cases failed v.s. those succeeded. But it’s better to give a try or just wait for others to try out with open mind before drawing a conclusion. Or we never know what we had missed in improvement.
  11. True. If sales of 42” or 50” flat TV were zero back then, there won’t be affordable flat TV today at so damn low price for all of us. Bless all cutting edge tech could fly in sales without complaining.
  12. I have owned one from Next Level Racing. Flight sim version is Flight Simulation Lite. Foldable and decent quality. You may find it under $300 while it depends where you are living.
  13. You all said it right. Just a wish to have VisionPro-like premium & affordable VR for DCS…no controller, accurate eye tacking for DFR, superb visual, and incredible latency and so on. Then we will need 5090+ to drive that beast… Unfortunately it would only exist in dream for a few yrs. And hope Apple could be success so more products for PCVR could benefit from same supply chain with a lot cheaper BOM cost driven by volume.
  14. I couldn't agree with you any more. Cutting edge technology meanwhile affordable? Wake up. It simply takes time to commercialize those advanced and expensive parts. R&D cost also has to be armotized gradually. When people complain $3499 way too far from "affordable to common people", they didn't realize cutting edge products are for early adapters who are not common people...they could be developers, enthusiasts... Most of us would take benefit eventually after Apple proved the XR market. Wish to have a $999 of Vision non-Pro version in 2025, or Quest true-Pro version with Vision's micro-OLED... Ouch! A 42" LCD 1080P TV costed me $3000 in 2006... what's the price of 85" OLED today?
  15. Close to 5K per eye w/HDR and pack a PC level chip + 12ms latency…need that became new standard for all major VR headsets next year. So we could enjoy in DCS.
  16. Will see how close that leaked rumor to the fact in a few hours. It's technically not a big challenge with today's top tier GPUs to drive 4k + 4k... Varjo, Crystal, 8kX are all in that zone. At least playable around 60Hz. Wonder how M2 level of chips to drive such heavy duty which 4090 could bearly handle. Congrats your 1st post with motion. If anyone hate ecosystem, then Android is the way for openess (or chaos). So yes, I prefer to stay inside the "castle". Seems I am getting into a potential "war". Let's watch Apple's special event. Yeah!
  17. No matter if it might be another apple-failed-product in the market. Without any doubt, it will create a new baseline of VIRTUAL REALITY and put Quest Pro in shame (1832x1920 per eye in 2023 as "Pro" @$1499 of launch price, really?). Even Apple's XR headset is very unlikely to be used with DCS in Windows and super expensive, still full of curious to see what level this tech giant could bring VR to. Let's find out soon in some hours. One thing for sure. It will anchor the new standard of VR headset in near future for us. I hate to wait for another 3-4 yrs to see "next-gen" VR coming with another routine upgrade. I am dying to fly into "reality" in DCS but 720P/1080P level of clarity. Someone pls wake me up pls...
  18. OpenXR as it seems to deliver the best performance for me.
  19. @DigitalEngine already got update of “preview” MT as part of stable version right after that post. Love it though still some bugs which I can accept given the huge performance boost from last Dec ver. thanks anyway. Wish to see a “official” road map but I understand it’s a challenge to ED team.
  20. Thanks for quick reply. Sure. Fully understand any major function dev/test and bug fix takes time. If possible, might share a bit more forecast like “target end of Q2” and “subject to change”. It’s not obligation while proving some some insides what’s coming. People always complains if the plan was pushed to right. But it’s common to see the delay of any software release. “Subject to change” explains itself. More people love to see some indicative info without complaining why it’s just “indicative”. Anyway, saw lots of pressure by doing so as well. So … up to your judgment.
  21. @BIGNEWY probably we are dying for another major update to get back on track of this topic…stable MT + preview Vulcan for next.
  22. That ‘s true. I bought their 280X, 290 and Vega64. Sucks Vega64 especially. Now 3090… and failed to get one 4090 in a few months of its launch date then decided to skip it. Hate to buy anything inflated from its already-extremely-high price tag. And that was caused exactly by lack of effective competition which I was referring to. Make a wish that red team could make some major overhaul on their roadmap and next gen structure in 2024. Just a wish.
  23. Consider it’s no brainer to have 64GB RAM given you already had 7800X3D+4090+Varjo :-). And it’s not a big invest at all as of today ‘s pricing of DDR5.
  24. Looking for red team’s next gen flagship 8900XTX could beat green team ‘s 5090, so we had better chance to buy either of them at reasonable price.
  25. That’s the right way to enjoy DCS though OC itself shall be interesting thing to spend some time for someone. You have a great platform for it now. Saw some decent improvement from MT version. Very much looking for it becoming stable and Vulcan coming next for another boost in performance. Yeah!
