The INS in the F-16 is buggy. When I play on Multiplayer Servers, with the Nevada map, my INS does not treat waypoints correctly, either because of some misalignment of the map grid, or because it doesn't record well. Basically, when I set a waypoint using the F10 coordinates of an object, the custom steerpoint does not take me there. Nor do the other steerpoints on the map already in place take me in the right direction. I do go through the entire INS startup procedure (selecting NORM on startup). I always have to enter new coordinates, which always triggers a new INS startup. I let it run until it states /10 and blinks RDY, and then I set it to NAV. Previous cross checks of the bullseye with wingmen confirms the correct bullseye numbers. Attached are the logs. dcs.log

Erroneous flight control behaviour after dropping 1 GBU38
BaronVonVaderham posted a topic in Winwing
Recently during multiplayer games, I noticed that my F-16EX stick is behaving erratically. After dropping off my first of 2 GBU38's, I would expect some asymmetric roll behaviour due to imbalanced payload. But in addition to that, I also have very weird behaviour on the pitch. The stick wants to pitch down quite strongly, and as time progresses that gets stronger. I also noticed that to get out of the pitch down momentum, I need to very aggressively and forcefully pitch up, which then temporarily makes it pitch slightly up. Then when I pitch down again, the stick automatically pitches down fairly strongly. Trimming doesn't seem to help. In addition, after dropping the first GBU38, I can no longer drop the second GBU. The process is the same: slew on target and TMS Up, which should lock the target and allow me to drop when within range. I have not had this problem with instant flight, just with multiplayer servers. I'm on OpenBeta 2.9.2.49940 -
Hey all, I'm trying to figure out what firmware I need to download from WW to update my F-16EX joystick base. SimAppPro identifies my base as a "JOYSTICK BASE2 2". Unfortunately it is permanently stuck in "retrieving", so I don't know if the current firmware is the latest. Also, the firmware names on the winwing website are completely random (implying a complete and utter lack of configuration management of their software development). So, I was hoping to download the firmware and manually install the latest firmware. As a note, my current JOYSTICK BASE2 2 hardware has version 1.13 as current firmware.

Entering multiplayer server gets stuck at "Net Sim Post Start"
BaronVonVaderham replied to -0303-'s topic in General Bugs
since the last open beta patch I am experiencing the sam eissue. Didn't have this problem before. Attached are my logs dcs.log-20231221-203740.zipdcs.log-20231221-203444.zipdcs.log-20231221-202847.zipdcs.log-20231221-202422.zipdcs.log-20231221-202111.zipdcs.log-20231004-195623.zipdcs.log-20231004-094024.zip It reports an access violation, but I have no clue what that access violation is or what causes it. I tried a slow repair and moved extra files identified as not vanilla to a backup folder. That didn't work. So I moved them back, and suddenly I lost all my modules and had a 2 day limit. Trying a new repair, which seems to be installing an update. restarting after the repair launched it like normal.- 57 replies

Right, soo last night I did some troubleshooting with help from others. I launched an instant mission free flight. I assume that it would be in flight configuration, and forgot completely that dcs syncs to hotas. One guy noticed my heart handle was down, soo when I retracted get, at just last night it was working. Doh! I still think the hanging forward of my stick caused the original lack of ap, but I might pay around with the deadzone to see to what extent the overhang causes problems.
-
Ok soo I tried the suggestions. I noticed my stick hangs forward a little, which causes a slight deflection. Soo I set a deadline of about 9, which covers the deflection. unfortunately the autopilot still due not engage at all. is there a secret situation where the ap does not work? Or will I need to remove dcs completely and reinstall everything From scratch?
-
So tonight I did a flight that confirmed my suspicion about the autopilot not working. I switch the autopilot to “pitch Alt Hold” (aka switch up), but the ap does not hold altitude. I kept switching it on and off, but it refused to hold altitude. Previously the ap felt sluggish, as if it didn’t really want to steer the plane to the set altitude (or heading), but tonight, no alt hold. It just descended, as if it was being trimmed down. now my aircraft was probably not perfectly trimmed, but if need to trim my aircraft to fly perfectly level, I dont need autopilot. im curious why it’s not working and what I can do to fix it. Is there awaits uninstall the entire mod and reinstall it? I did have many other issues tonight though. for example, I had 2 gbu12 and 2gbu38. The first gbu38 drops on target. The second refused to release despite beinginrange. for the gbu38, the target pod refused to see the right target. My wingman send me data twice, but still it got it wrong. steer points were completely off as well. When flyingback to base (steer point 1 which I used on takeoff), steer point 1 was at a completely different direction. same flight datalink wasn’t working. I didn’t even see my wingman on the radar in front of me, nor the tanker I fuelled up at. also, when holding brakes full and set throttle to 90%, tonight the brakes didn’t hold, whilst on other nightsbthey do hold. so I wonder maybe I should erase it from my harddrive and reinstall the mod fresh?

Thanks for the explanation. it’s not a resolution problem I think, as with Helios I was over the 2x4k in the horizontal. That worked fine. this weekend I’ll be passing around with what you said. Some time ago before I used Helios, calling EHSI didn’t really do it, but thinking about it, maybe that’s because I plugged the EHSI disks in the wrong hdmi port (the du didn’t like using hff do mi to use against but works with the gpu directly. So maybe that was my problem at the time). Another question, I know I can probably find out using the info you gave me, but I want to export the RWR as well. I understood for the f-16 that’s possible without modifying other files. You didn’t mention if, but then again, you did refer to the usual viewports
-
Question: Helios is failing integrity checks so I’m back to basic export. where can I find the name of the devices (viewports) that can be exported? I can find a devices.lua, which quotes MFD_LEFT/RIGHT, but my export.lua works (or used to anyway) when I use the name LEFT/RIGHT_MFCD. Soo United they changed the name of the MFDs, the devices.lua does not specify it. The devices _init.lua states MFD_LEFT/RIGHT, and RMFD/LMFD. The MFD_left/right_init.lua mentions LMFD/RMFD, LEFT/RIGHT_MFCD So I’m a bit lost… surely someone must know which file will specify the device bashes that can be used for exportable viewports? i don’t want an answer that says “this is the name”, I want to learn how to fish, to use a biblical expression. This way I can find out with each update if I have to adjust my export for or not, and how, without having to ask here yet again.

Hi guys, probably a bit of a shot in the dark, but I’m getting into 3D printing and I’m looking for smaller cockpit part designs that I can print. I found payware knobs and viper cockpit parts, but I’m looking for something that is free. I’m aware of the warthog project and open hornet, which I think have some designs, but if others can point out where there are 3D designs for cockpit parts, I would love to hear. until then I’ll see if some I can design myself simply and once I do I’ll make them available for free here and on discord.
-
Thanks for the response. It worked out fine. Bought my we in July, just before they opened a European warehouse (doh!)
-
What cad programs are you using, and how do you separate the cadets layers for cutting and engraving? By the way, I believe the open hornet project has a lot of relevant fonts. Should be the same that the viper uses.

That’s the thing isn’t it? We need to make concessions on the design for pragmatic reasons. For example, I don’t think many implement a starter switch that returns after startup, simply because a momentary toggle switch gives a close enough effect. And many of us use wood as construction material, instead of an aluminium alloy plate, which affects the entire construction. speaking of construction materials, I used something called “allzweckplatte”, which I found here in Germany. It seems like a good construction material, albeit a bit brittle. I found out it means “all purpose plate “, but no clue what it is actually made of. The brittleness makes it less suitable for hand tools, but it has great potential if it can be laser cut. I used a 3mm plate for MIP mock-up, which allowed me to fine tune my design and learn some lessons.

Hey Guys, since managed to get Helios working smoothly, I’d like to use it for multiple displays. I’m currently planning to have quite a few displays for gauges in a viper pit, more than my gpu can cater for. I have one hdmi and dp port on my mobo. My gpu has 2 hdmi ports and 3 dp ports (4080). I do have two 4-hdmi-to-usb converters. The startech one only allows three of the 4 hdmi ports to be used. The jScreate converter I haven’t figured out yet. Earlier it allowed 3 of the 4 ports. Yesterday when I tried 2 ports none of the connected displays worked, but removing one allowed the other to work. added complication is that two of my displays CV (for rwr and ehsi) only work when connected to the gpu. Some more info I heard about is that adding extra GPU’s isn’t always possible. I read you need a special mobo to use multiple GPU’s effectively. so I guess my question is how to use multiple displays effectively. The only thing I can think of is external GPU’s, but the housings for those are quite expensive.

Problem resolved: i was given the tip by @MadKreator to uninstall my NVIDIA drivers, and reinstall the latest drivers fresh. This did the trick. I now have butter smooth gauges! Thanks @MadKreator for the support you’ve given my! Really appreciate it -

That’s quite amazing. Many people don’t make their designs available. I’m guessing out of fear someone will use them for a commercial endeavour. I’m happy to see some people still want to help the community, for those who are less able to make stuff.

I’ll probably will buy the panels from hispapanels, or PSM, as a decent laser cutter costs too much and I don’t have space for one either. Gauge bezels I’ll be printing most likely, as they don’t have backlighting. Plus I can integrate them with analog gauges that I hope to start making soon. I’m hoping the drawing set includes the bare main front panel. Otherwise I can probably use the vault and come up with something myself in fusion.
