Monitor advice requested
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don’t think they have this in Europe. It’s quite massive though! Is this a monitor or a TV? I’ve heard about people using the C4, but alas no DP I believe. -
Hey Gus, I’m looking for a new monitor. Preferably a 41-43 ish inch 4K monitor. I’m using it for DCS and work (engineering stuff, lots of documents drawings excel sheets, schematics, etc). I’m eyeballing the Phillips 42m2n8900 and the asus pg43uq (or whatever the model number is off the latest version). I’m of course open to other suggestions, but not ultra wide stuff. I’m not convinced about using a TV because they lack usb-c, and they don’t work in the same way Monitors do.

Open Kneeboard
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think you are referring to the DCS as build in kneeboard. I’m referring to the mod “open kneeboard”. Tough in fairness, maybe the same applies to open kneeboard. But then again, the one png on my fodder doesn’t show up either. Thanks. I will try that. I thought that open kneeboard automatically takes the content of the aircraft kneeboard as well. Currently the kneeboard folder in my saved games area is completely empty. -
Open Kneeboard

I’m looking for a new main display. It’s not only for dcs, but also for work (lots of diagrams, excel and documents). Needs to be at least 4K. I got the following in mind: ROG Swift PG42UQ (Aug 2022) philips evnia 42M2N8900/00 (Feb 2023) ROG Swift PG38UQ (Jun 2023) Not doing Samsung. Last year I had to return 5 of them in the span of weeks due to being defective out of the box. Don’t want 49” ers, because they are too wide (I already have a 32” 4K). The latest LG 40” 5K monitors perform abysmal for gaming (otherwise that would have been my choice) Suggestions?

Hey guys, I'm using open kneeboard and I'm trying to add pages. OK is not too clear about it (I thought it was, but it isn't). It says put it in the kneeboard/aircraft folder I"m assuming I should use the specific folder for the aircraft I want it in (which is interesting, because I'm not sure what name to call the folder for e.g. the viper, as apparently those folder names can differ...) I saw that you can add tabs as well, but where do I store content for such tabs?

Can someone tell me What do the points (the three lines) on the bottom mean in SimAppPro? i don’t understand what they are writing

This looks very interesting as a solution. It’s not running very smoothly though. Is that a matter of changing algorithms?

Printing complete panels
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in 3D Printing for DCS
I’m gonna follow that! Soo far, I’ve been designing my own stuff for printing from scratch. this is my design thus far it’s quite Modular soo I can replace certain things as I evolve my simpit -
Hey guys, I spotted an interesting offer for a 40w co2 laser on Amazon. https://amzn.eu/d/cetAnzF I suspect it’s one of the usual suspects for budget co2 laser cutters, and I’m curious what modifications I have to make to run this effectively.

Update downloads too slow
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in Installation Problems
I did all that. Definitely not at my end. I can see everyone around me has very slow internet. (The Vodafone speed test app actually shows that). By note of course I manage to download it. Took 4 days in total. And a few days later internet behaved more normal. it’s known that Vodafone in Germany sucks. They know it themselves too, but the law does not protect consumers in Germany, soo Vodafone can do whatever they want and raise their middle finger if you complain. Standard practise in Germany. -
I’ve been trying to download the latest update for the last 32 hours, but I can’t seem to get it. After 32 hours at 350kbps I’m still only at 15% or so of the total download. That’s before unpacking soo pure download. although I have a 1G connection, at the moment she tests indicate a download speed of 60Mbps. i tried using a vpn without improvements. For info: I’m with Vodafone in Germany any idea how I can speed up this download?

Yeah, pretty much all the refresh settings are the same now. My monitor is 60hz (not a gaming monitor), set up nvidia to 60hz, set Helios to 60hz, and enabled vsync. it only happens when there’s more clutter (i.e. when I have more of the earth than the sky)

RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
BaronVonVaderham replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
Personally I’m worried about a nasty breakup between the two as it means two things: 1) Razbam modules will become unusable unless someone takes over the development. 2) the situation can happen with other suppliers… should I still invest in this out not? -
Hi all. I’m looking into a block 70 CPD for my simpit. I heard some people made that but I can’t find anything using Google. Does anyone have data to share on where people did such a build?
-
Hi all, I’m working on a simpit and would like to use a winwing base unit for the base of an f-16 throttle quadrant. i was thinking of the following: For me the easiest/cheapest solution would be using a WW Gemini base unit, and mount a scale f-16 arm together with the winwing f-16 throttle grip. My question regarding the Gemini base unit, is if it can relay all the grip mounted controls via the Gemini base unit. If not possible I could use an f-16 throttle quadrant from WW. the next hurdle would be setting the idle/cutoff point and the afterburner point. Using a WW base with a longer arm, means the arc angle of the throttle will be smaller. It is possible that I will miss the cutoff point and afterburner point. The afterburner point can be calibrated. However I think the cutoff point is a sensor/switch, and I doubt I can move that in a different position. I also don’t know if the Gemini even has a cutoff sensor (I think it is intended for collectives). soo I’m curious as to what I could do to resolve the cutoff issue.

Would you mind sharing the design for that one? I’ve been trying to figure out how to create the engine gauges.

Hi all, im sure this has been raised before, but I’m struggling to find something. im looking for a kneeboard implementation on iPad. I ran into some potential apps, but none of those are available outside their home country, or require beta testing stuff to be installed on iPad. any suggestions?

I’ve tried to register, but what nicknames do they accept? the only ones I know of are viper and fighting falcon. But those options are not accepted.

Hi guys, can someone tell me how I can do a keyword search on the user file site of DCS? It has many drop down menus, but I can’t find a search box for keywords. Sometimes I accidentally find a page that has it, but I can never find it by browsing to the relevant page.

CBUs all drop when set to single drop
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in Weapon Bugs
Did another test today. First test today the CBUs were set to 300ft air altitude on the rearm page. Again they did not deploy submunitions. Note, target is at about 1200-1500ft pressure altitude. Second test I set the air altitude at 1500ft on the rearm page. This time CBUs deployed. A little low for my taste, but on target. Conclusion is that air altitude on the rearm page is pressure altitude for submunition deployment altitude. That seems inefficient as you don’t always know the target elevation. I was told the deployment altitude is supposed to be in ft AGL. That’s not the case now, as I need to set pressure altitude ASL. therefore this is a bug. -
CBUs all drop when set to single drop
BaronVonVaderham replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in Weapon Bugs
so I tried this again, by restarting DCS, and this time I could drop single CBUs, but this tome they refused to deploy. Attached track and log. This is flying the F16. again no track file thanks to tracks being so fing big. dcs.log -
So today for some reason my F16 was dropping all 10 CBUs at once, even when set to single drop and ripple set to 1. This was on the TDCS EU server. flying an F16 Log attached Track is too big at 113MB

Had a short play of three hours with the f4and decided to put it in the back of the closet: - jester menu takes up half my screen and still managed to drop off my screen, so not only can I not see half the cockpit, I can also not operate half the jester menu. You’d think they make the menu fall within the screen size… - checklist (in training) takes up another half of the 32” 4K monitor, thus leaving me with a 1”sq to see the cockpit. - neither the checklist nor the jester menu can be resized in-game - jester menu call up is not named like that in the control setupmenu (seem sto be common to name something what it is not called in real life), so took me some time to google the right control. (Hint, it’s not called “jester menu”). - controls are in the way of themselves, so you cannot see half the controls, or manipulate them, because you end up manipulating the control in front of it. For example, I cannot see the ignition switches associated with the levers, thus I can only change the levers Formosa to idle, but cannot select the ignition switches. - you can’t use a single throttle hotas, despite the binding existing for it, as startup requires you to move individual throttles whilst holding a hidden start button depressed. This action also means you cannot do it by mouse. Couldn’t find an auto start option, so I can’t fly it until I have a dual throttle control, and I’m not gonna buy one for the f4 alone. - there’s a million versions. I spend hours setting up controls for WSO (which I have no clue what that means), only to find that there is a non WSO version as well. No idea which to choose. Oh and in the trainings and missions they are not called that, so no idea if in a training I have a WSO or non WSO version. - the control settings between WSO and non WSO are different. For example, the WSO version doesn’t have controls for Landing gear and flaps, whereas the non WSO version doesn’t have antenna elevation or radar range controls. So automatically this becomes confusing the same hardware needs to be set up differently for the same aircraft.
