1. Normandy 2 Trains are still sunk into tracks down to their axles ST and MT Versions. 2. German Steam Loco class 86 animations - wheels do not rotate and valve gear does not animate at all in MT Version. This is concerning as the ST version is to be removed soon making the purchased class 86 steam locomotive in the ww2 assets pack unusable. The trains deserve a bit of attention as they were a big part of the war effort and add to the DCS emersion greatly. I decided to create all my own british trains at the correct height on track as i did not wish to die of old age waiting for a fix. I have advised the simple fix for the rolling stock height adjustment several times , if the track height adjustment is too difficult and is baked into the whole of Normandy 2 map then just load each 0ne of the DCS 3d rolling stock files into blender - adjust the origin - export using tobys blender exporter and name them with a N2 prefix. And same for any other maps with height problems. Eightball did it for his railway assets pack. This cannot be done by users as the EDM files cannot be imported only DCS can do it using their original 3d models if they still have them ?

1. Maybe the DCS server has gone into labor and is trying to give birth to a huge unified update ! 2. Ai Takeover - Maybe the DCS Ai and user Mods have locked us out and are playing the sim on their own !

New DCS users on Steam must be pulling their hair out reading all these comments and advice . I am on steam and I have never used the DCS updater i do not know anything about it should I ? People saying there is a button update yes or no ? Steam just makes you update if you choose to play or not update and so not play. I am sure it will just be a case of just let steam update DCS and it will all be fine . I have never had a problem with a steam DCS update. it sure makes your head spin .

Thanks BIGNEWY I understand now with your nice clear answer. I was just worried that the Steam Locomotive animation is still Broken in the MT version but its cool. The Unified version is a good move with an MT option to have a look sometimes to see how the MT bug fixes are progressing. Cheers steve

The unified update has not even landed yet and just look how every one is so confused with the options of how to start the Simulation even now . It needs to be a single icon click DCS and play thats it . Put DCS on a Diet for a little while for testing the new unified version . Place all user created mods in a backup folder while the whole community can test the new unified version. That way faults in the code can be traced without any people having mods in the Simulation. To me that makes sense as usually the first reply to a problem is remove all user mods . Just get the community to test the unified code for a little while and see the feedback. I will crawl back to my tunnel now.

Thanks rob10 The MT version works very well for me apart from the steam locomotive animation issues. ED did fix the trains shuddering around issue a while back thanks . I do have old hardware and no VR . For me It just needs the Steam Locomotive wheels and valve gear animation to be activated in the NEW updated DCS version same as it is in the Beta and ST. Why you may ask ? So that anyone crazy enough like me to attempt these complex locomotive animation Mods can add enjoyment and emersion to the Simulator. OK for now i will shut up and go back inside one of my secret Krupp K5 Leopold tunnels and see what the new DCS update does.

1- I Play on Steam and i have to update anyway when an update comes out or i cannot play. 2- I do not want to worry but i would like the wheels on the steam locomotives and valve gear to work normally but they dont in the MT version.. 3- I thought ST "the dead horse" was the proven stable reliable version to use if you do not want problems and test and trouble shoot problems. 4- I am in a very very very very small group who like the Steam Locomotive in DCS and i have built several Locomotives that work in DCS along with wagons and coaches for the British side of Normandy 2 . 5- Just my last push before - I Look forward to the next update that may put my Worries to rest. My DCS Railway Creations may become as useful as chocolate Teapots in the 45 degree C Australian Sun. Are well Dont Worry Be Happy !

So what about the MT option that has issues is that going to be locked in to the new DCS i can see a lot of confusion happening already ?

The wheels and valve gear on the German Steam Locomotive DRG_Class_86 rotate and animate perfectly in the open beta version. However they do not move at all in open beta MT version. Just looks like a wooden santa sleigh that kids push along the carpet. Hope the merging is not a downgrade that forces users to use the broken open beta MT locomotive.

DML - Mission Creation Toolbox [no Lua required]
waterman replied to cfrag's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Hi Cfrag Thanks for the massive update I am just updating to your DML 2.0 files on my system. I noticed that on GitHub artilleryUI.lua used to have cfx infront as in cfxartilleryUI.lua. Also same for artilleryZones.lua , cargoManager.lua , cargoReceiver.lua. Just giving you a heads up in case it creates problems with people trying to find the correct lua files to include ? cheers steve -
The free german krupp k5 railgun is created by trolosqlfod https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/railway-gun-howitzer-73c19fe0cc4943948da076762682b4da I edited the 3d model a lot and animated it and got it up and running in DCS.

cfrags Fantastic DML is super powerful - i used it to create random trains on a timetable around london in Normandy 2 ( well cfrag told me what to do ! ). Just a few boxes ( Lego Bricks ) that interact with each other and theres a simple railway sequence operating. 100 % recomend you learn the DML way of controlling things its fantastic. Also make sure you download the updates as cfrag is always working on the project. Thankyou for your wonderful work cfrag !

Hi Slippa I still have all of the projects and thanks for your input and Eddie`s advise on the Krupp k5 German rail gun topic. I removed the topic as there are more important bunfights going on stuttering etc issues that i do not wish to add to. The issue is the DCS trains need to be adjusted to the the computer controlled route height in each map. Theres another option . British Railway Network is you only select trains - Locomotives - Wagons - and coaches that are the correct height but theres no british trains anyway . But if i release mine the next update may stuff them up ! The Krupp K5 German railgun is the exception as it pretends to be an on road Tank and has a limited dedicated track and turntable. The Krupp K5 railgun can also be pulled around on Enemy tracks so whats going to pull it at the correct height My british Locos No thats stupid ? The only solution is i build the Krupp Twin Diesels to the same track height to haul the Rail gun out of its tunnel or to a new location as part of a train on the other side of the English channel . Some food for thought is - the railgun has rotating wheels - the Twins have rotating wheels so they are good for MT as theres no valvegear or noticable spokes etc . However Steam Loco Valvegear and wheels do not animate in MT but are fine in ST.

Thanks Strikehawk That will come in handy thanks - also the Enemy Ground Ai now shoot at trains and will kill them. We are now getting some good interaction with the trains i am getting excited again about DCS thanks ED.

Hi Can you please have a look at the trains on the Normandy 2 map. They are sunk down to their axles looks like the track height routes are too low ? Maybe its easy or a big job to fix height on Map - however a simple fix is to duplicate the existing trains and set them higher in the 3d software then export the EDM files and rename with N2 in front of each item. I cannot do this for the DCS EDM files as they cannot be imported into Blender. I make my own DCS trains it works no problem its a simple fix to a very very bad look for the Simulator. thanks steve

Hi I build my own Steam Locomotives Wagons and Coaches and also the Krupp K5 German Railwaygun. I can adjust the height of each one in blender and export the EDM files for EG - Normandy 2. All of my wheels and valve gear animate and turn great but not in the MT Version. As far as i can tell its the track height that is different on each Map. I did not release any of mine as it made them look stupid if they are hooked up with the Existing ones that are below the tracks. I have said this several times already - " it looks like the DCS items need to be duplicated and the height adjusted and then clearly named " Its a very simple task but i cannot edit a locked DCS EDM only my own files. I kept asking for it to be fixed but i guess it is too hard .

investigating Normandy 2.0 and multithreading performance issue
waterman replied to Midgard117's topic in Bugs & Problems
You can turn the Traffic off and then create a few of your own in the ME. Thats why i was developing my low poly British Trains. -
Thanks Flappie Looking forward to trying it out - im downloading the 2.9 update now. - just tried it and the trains no longer stutter thanks . the steam locomotive wheels still dont turn maybe the Devs tested using a deisel or Electric loco as you cannot see if they are rotating or not so look ok.

Hi i just gave my British Steam Locomotive that i have built to correct height on track - 3 test runs. DCS ST - Normandy 2 - works perfect. DCS Open Beta - Normandy 2 - works perfect. DCS Multi Thread - Normandy 2 - Wheels dont rotate and valve gear does not move - even from a standing start so its not a spoke strobing effect at speed - it just skids along the track like magic . Theres also the nice built in BEER GOGGLES Effect. I tried some of my wagons with no arg 8 set for wheel rotations but results still the same. If i pause DCS MT the trains are sharp and no beer goggles effect. ED - I would guess its a bounding box calculation error in the MT code forcing the wheels animation arg 8 to reset or even looking for the wrong arg number. Height adjustment of trains is simple if you build your own as you just adjust in Blender and use Tobis EDM Exporter. Good luck I hope it can be solved. I wonder how many users have reinstalled and messed around with settings trying to fix this. Good thing i dont use MT as i would have wasted countless hours trying to get the wheels to rotate ! DCS would have been sadly in my recycle bin.
