  1. Controllers have worked in the past but things change, and both Meta and ED have changed over this past year. So will they work, maybe. The better question is why bother? DCS is not designed with VR controllers in mind. My suggestion is get yourself an inexpensive HOTAS off eBay or use the keyboard and mouse.
  2. I can't be too much help because I have never tried to get X-Box type controllers to work, does windows see the device as a controller? I saw in the manual for the device some instructions for Windows.
  3. Virtual Desktop needs to connect to your PC via the streamer app. I'm not quite sure of your topology or how you ran DCS without VD connection to your PC. This is how i run mine: I have my AXE5400 on the wall a few feet from me broadcasting only WiFi 6. That router is running as a router, not an access point. It connects via cable to my house network and sees it as the WAN. My Quest 3 then connects to the WiFi 6. That keeps it and the PC on its own network. I have tried ICS with a previous setup and it ran about as well as you described. If you have to run the PC on WiFi, connect your AXE5400 as a router hardwired to your network, then connect your PC and HMD to the WiFi 6. Dont allow any other devices on that network. Forget ICS, it's not good for gaming.
  4. It's really hard to know if they are ignoring the defects or getting hand picked defect free units. I have seen some YT reviews talk about mura, but they also said it wasn't that bad. MRTV said it was very bad on the demo unit and then walked it back when he received his production unit. I don't really trust anybody doing a review that received the unit for free. I'll trust users like @TimSell75 when he says it has mura. i have at least a couple months before mine is shipped to get an idea from real end users what it's like. Then I have 14 days to trial it myself.
  5. Are you going to RMA it? Maybe YouTube influencers are getting hand picked units. I ordered mine last night. If it has these issues, the 14 day trial will end day 1.
  6. Thanks for the replies, I moved this week and everything is still in boxes and my new CPU, MB, RAM, and thermal paste are on my desk. I'll keep the install and do a repair.
  7. So, I'm upgrading from an I9-10900k to an AMD 9800x3D. My DCS install is pretty old, this will be the 3rd reinstall of Windows with the same installation of DCS. Is there any benefit to a clean install of DCS? And if so, can I keep my modules backed up, so I don't have to download for 3 weeks. My priority is VR and possibly upgrading my Q3 soon too.
  8. Take my money! I have loved the F15 ever since I was stationed at Kadena AB working on KC-135 (Tankers, AWACS and Chipmunks), and watching the F15A's sweeping the skies. I loved watching them flyby and then land almost as much as I loved watching the Habu take off.
  9. Same here, I gave up on the USB and multiple adjustments in the Quest software. I found it buggy and occasionally wouldn't connect. VD connects easily every time.
  10. What are you're streaming settings? Those are the important ones because by streaming they mean to your HMD.
  11. I tried it plugged directly to my PC with everything else disconnected and from the powered hub with everything else dc'd. The disconnecting of other devices is a SimApp default, the disconnecting of my stick with extension was the only fix. This wouldn't be much of an issue if the wire connector was more robust.
  12. My Win11 does, under C:\Users\name\ right click on saved games, select properties and then location and move. You may have issues if you just moved it.
  13. No there isn't and that would make a lot of G2 owners happy since its being deprecated. Make sure your on Win10 or not upgrading your Win11 to 24H2 otherwise WMR is going to stop working. Then you'll need that Pimax
  14. With the Q3 you're going to want a new facial interface and head strap. The garbage that comes with the Q3 is so uncomfortable you should add that to the cost. I use a an AMVR Facial Interface and BOBOVR S3 Pro Battery Headset which may not be for you if your planning on USB power as this headset is designed to provide power with WiFi. But I have heard good things about the Kiwi K4 Head Strap I don't think the sweet spot will matter on the Pimax Crystal Light as it is also edge to edge clarity, but the Quest 3 is a more stable product
  15. If you can afford to add the BoboVR S3 Pro, I would add that. It is far more comfortable than the stock strap and adds battery power too.
  16. Here is a couple of links from Microsoft's forum for Win11 23H2 Windows 11 23H2
  17. That video does nothing, that was a waist of my time. Find a video that sets up the G2 in VR and follow it.
  18. What he said, take the headset off. Use your keyboard. Use windows key+shift+s to capture any portion of your screen, including video. I'll look at your video link to see what's up with it.
  19. That adds up to 48? Pull the 32, make sure the 8's are in slots 1,3 or 2,4 and try it again. Your buying a motherboard anyway and running odd unmatched dimms. The results will not be good on any upgrade with unmatched, odd count sticks. You could look for a deal on a 10900 or 10700, they'll out perform your lower end i5 and save you some cash. Then get a matching set of ram. People usually buy them in pairs for a good reason. Though my system is CPU bound with a 10900k, I'm not getting stuttering but do play on low settings. AM5 is still the best option, but you'll sacrifice your unmatched dimms anyway but have a much better upgrade patch. Black Friday may have some deals with combos of board/CPU/memory.
  20. If you go with PCVR2 you will get mediocre results in DCS but you will be able to use GT7 on the PlayStation. You will need to decide for yourself which is more important. There are of course multiple racing games in VR on a PC as well as a host of other games both PC and Meta standalone.
  21. To make the G2 comfortable for me I bought a fairly inexpensive strap, but for the Q3 I went with a BoboVR S3 Pro ($80) and an AMVR Face cover ($35) and then I am using Virtual Desktop ($20), and needed a dedicated 6e router TP-Link AXE5400 ($180) - though you can go much cheaper for a 6e router, especially if you already have a good setup. I also added a BoboVR battery dock ($40) and 2 more batteries($80), so I never run out of power. This kind of puts you in the price range of a Pimax Crystal Light which I don't have but I may jump to soon. It needs better audio too and a comfortable head strap upgrade. While the resolution of the sweet spot of the G2 is much better, it is also the size of a straw, so you will notice immediately how much better the Quest 3 is because it is the entire screen. The colors are not as good, the headset is not as comfortable but adjustments with aftermarket products are widely available. I also use my Q3 for other games and like that I am not tied to my PC. My G2 is sitting in a box for a good reason.
  22. So, in the above statement you mean on your computers monitor? VR is MUCH more demanding in DCS and MSFS. I really don't think the K6000 is up to the minimum specks of DCS and you never answered which CPU you have. UserBenchmark: Nvidia GTX 1080-Ti vs Quadro K6000 UserBenchmark: Nvidia Quadro K6000 vs RTX 3060-Ti
  23. How do you get 40GB DDR4? If running odd number of sticks, pull the extra non-matching stick out. Does the issue resolve itself if you lower the settings, for example using the VR preset? You may want to wait for the 9800x3D to be fully in stock and then pick up a 7800x3D which is also AM5 and allows you an upgrade path or at a minimum brings down the cost of a 5800x3D
  24. When you say it runs fine in DCS, do you mean VR or 2D?
