Definitely try reinstalling SteamVR. Not Steam, just SteamVR.

Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Slammin replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
Anticipate total bliss. Then, wonder what MOAR would be like -
Probably https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/rtx4090/ and good luck!

HP Reverb G2, used buyer questions
Slammin replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Virtual Reality
I ordered my G2 on 11/26/22 and it was delivered 12/11/22 even though it said estimated delivery was 1/17/23. Seems they are cranking them out fast! -
Last round (3090), I had just retired from my job so I had all the time in the world to just stay up all night, monitoring discords etc., and wear out my refresh button to get one, and also got a couple of 3090's from the EVGA waiting list. Fun times! This time, I found a local ebay seller/scalper and paid an extra $300 above msrp for my Suprim Hydra. I gotta say that it was worth it to me. The frustration (oh but the adrenaline) of clicking/carting, and 'winning' was quite the experience, but I am not up for that anymore, lol! Congrats on your score man. The 4090 definitely opens up a whole new experience with VR!

I don't think anyone would be wrong in choosing a Reverb G2 v2, especially as a first experience. But, only if it's on sale and also if you are looking for PCVR vs. standalone. I have one and the clarity, colors etc. are outstanding, but I also run with a 4090 and can more than max resolution and maintain 90 FPS is most situations. That will not be the case with anything below a 4090, but even at lower resolutions, due to the PPD, it will still look great. Personally, I prefer a wide view HMD so I am mostly on my 8KX but again, it takes a beastly GPU to get the most out of it and running the 8KX at less that 100% is a lot more noticeable than running the G2 at less than 100%.

The MSI is so nice and thin though. Love mine!

I don't like DLSS in msfs even though I can get great fps with it. It just looks crappy compared to TAA. I'll take the fps hit rather than the ugly.

Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Slammin replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
I went from 1080ti to 3090 and it was worth it. I went from 3090 to 4090 and have zero regrets! Have zero $$$ left too, but still it was very much worth it! -
Running a monitor whilst in VR must surely affect performance?
Slammin replied to Whiskeybravo's topic in Virtual Reality
RT2060 - VR 8GB. I want to kinda say more...... -
You want a 4090, even though I'd wager a 4090 will cause your CPU frametime to increase as well, at least with DCS. Currently, it looks like your system has almost perfect balance.

Yeah, I wanted that mobo badly but it was never in stock back then. -

Usually it will appear if you select Advanced in the PBO area. -

A few reasons to undervolt are: 1. To decrease the amount of power your system uses. Save the planet - Be Green. 2. Increase efficiency, usually of your GPU. For instance, in the case of a 4090 GPU, restricting it to less than 100% power/voltage usage; you might limit it to use 80% power, while at the same time only reducing performance (FPS) by a much smaller factor (3 or 4 FPS or so). These numbers are not exact but that is the principle. 3. Undervolting a CPU can actually increase performance. The more power a CPU can grab, the more heat the CPU generates when loaded. Once temp reaches a certain threshold, the CPU will throttle. Two ways to ensure the CPU will run at max clocks longer w/o throttling are employing excellent cooling, and/or undervolting. The small risk of undervolting the CPU is the system can become unstable if the CPU is power starved. Same with a GPU too, but a GPU crash due to undervolting presents almost no risk of a corrupted system whereas in a worst case scenario, a system crash from CPU undervolting can sometimes result in a crash that will require a total OS reinstall. It's rare these days, but it can happen. -
So, I bought the Reverb G2 during the recent sale....

Samsung Odyssey Neo G9. It's a great gaming and productivity monitor. I bought it mostly for work because the multi-monitor setup just wasn't that ergonomic for me after several years of chair spinning and neck twisting. -
@nikoelA video card mfg can do things within the supporting driver to effect just about every aspect of the the cards capabilities, including producing a video output in whatever manner they feel is 'right'. They typically also provide the end-user the ability to tweak some aspects of the video output, like contrast, saturation, hue, etc., to their liking.

Izzy is my co-pilot. She keeps me from tripping over stuff when it's dark in here -
I can't remember the details, but I do know that I used the Global method for the OpenXR DLL api when I installed OpenXR for my 8kx. My DCS is the Steam version in case that makes a difference. I have not had any issues. One strange thing I did notice with DCS, and this is even before I installed the OpenXR stuff is that setting the in-game PD to anything above 1.0 would result in a very crappy screen. Before VR, I had always set in-game PD to 1.2. Just to make certain this isn't a lighthouse issue, you might want to make sure they are not too close to your position. Also, if they are v1.0 lighthouses, they need to be able to see each other. I mention this because I seem to remember my 8kx freaking out with double-vision issues due to bad lighthouse location.

Yes, I have tried it with DCS, FS2020, IL-2 BoS, and was especially pleased with the HP with Star Wars Squadrons! So it will likely be a multi-role HMD for me, but for driving, it's the Reverb all the way! Solid 90FPS at Ultra settings with max+ resolution is just a great experience! -
I bought my 8kx a little over a year ago and although I love it, I must say that I am very impressed with the HP. I've only had the HP for a few days but from my testing so far, I think I will use it exclusively for my sim driving. The picture is so clear and the distance viewing is quite a bit better than the 8kx. I've read so many complaints regarding the sweet spot of the G2 but I am not seeing any issue there, but I'm certain it is because I can crank the SS as high as I want for all of my driving sims at max quality, yet maintain a solid 90FPS with zero drops. The 8kx is still my go-to for flight sims right now, but the HP does almost make me want to say "FOV who?"..... Sometimes!

Well color me irrational, but I am really happy with my purchase. Heck, over the years I have built 3 SLI rigs and DCS was one of the main reasons, lol! A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do! -
PIMAX Monster 12k, Eyes tracking, INSIDE OUT and Much more !!

Seems like folks get too hung up in thinking that it is a Must to run an HMD at its max capability to have a good experience. -

Slammin replied to ICARIVS's topic in Virtual Reality
You're gonna need a bigger boat? Seriously though, I'm not expecting to be able to max out the resolution of the 12k with DCS or FS2020, but I am expecting something less than max will still look and perform better than what we have available to us at this time. -
is DCS a Ship Simulator and weapons systems Simulator only ?

I figured it was evil forces at work that make air to air refueling so difficult for me.
