  1. Just be careful what you buy. Just today, I was bored and hooked my 32" Sharp HD LCD TV to my PC via HDMI and even though it says it's displaying 1920x1080, the result is terrible for text display! I started researching and from what I can tell, I need to use the VGA PC input and 1024x768 with black bars on the side to use this HDTV as a PC display. Granted, games look awesome when using the HDMI input @ 1920x1080 but I need to also be able to work with text displays too. I did try everything I know to try, but bassically, 1920x1080 just seems too low of a res to work with text. I did not try the VGA input. I will probably be buying a real 30" PC monitor.
  2. From the Link Wags posted - 1st sentence: "TIR was fixed today, so we hope to build beta 5 this week and put into internal test. Once it looks good, it will be released." Keep reading that. O.K. Read it again. OK, now once more. Alright, one more time. Fine, read it again! And again, for good measure. One more time please. READ. Did you read it? When I read it, I gathered that they will proceed to build B5 this week and THEN put to internal test. I think he said that was all gonna be this week. I wish folks would stop being so pushy. And sorry, I have the flu and am not in a great mood but even in a good mood, a response like this still pushes my buttons. Great work ED! And thanks for letting me participate in this effort!
  3. Yes, they are still clickable.
  4. I went through something like this several years ago with a SuperMicro dual CPU mobo with their stupid MTH (Memory Translator Hub) and they did finally replace my mobo with a model that didn't use the MTH. Was a pita but they did make things right.
  5. That is damn cool! But I must tell you, you are out of uniform. The UCMJ states that your shoes must be clean, black, and serviceable. Very creative, but also show you have some woodworking and engineering skills. Nicely done!
  6. What difference does the weight, which would be negligable considering either would be lighter than your hand or arm, and also be totally irrelevent depending on how you mount the stick anyway?
  7. That made me LOL! Nice one!
  8. It was a joke... I keep forgetting this is the Internet.
  9. You must check the logic. If 99% of pc's are Intel, and, the throttles are bricking, then Intel is the problem! So simple even a caveman could figure it out. :-)
  10. Nope, you have not missed anything here. As 007 said (he who walks among the rows), half the planet would be in peril (assuming they had a WH throttle). Sorry Mower, I'm on an avatar kick tonight!
  11. That link is wild! Check out some of the avatars!
  12. Accepted. Let's cross our fingers that the new firmware patch does actually prevent these failures because I can imagine the frustration and dissapointment some folks are going through with this.
  13. Haha, now that's bad!
  14. Why so adversarial? I have stated my mobo and specs in at least two other threads already in trying to assist. I was just pointing out here that even though both my monitors are Dell, they seem to be using different usb hubs in them. We have several threads already on the subject and as you can see, trying to compile anything when it seems like each day a new thread pops up about it sounds a little like panic to me, but I never called anything girlish, or in any other way criticized any effort of anyone in this community that is trying to help, so why are you attacking me? As far as what I think the problem with the throttle is, that is just my own conclusion and reason for it. I may be way off, but all the same, it is what I think. It must be what TM thinks too since their initial attempt to rememdy it was via firmware patch.
  15. Sheeze........
  16. "Ladies and Germs" That's how they used to address us in Air Force boot camp. Good thing we didn't have a forum back then!
  17. ditto. Never heard of anyone else having that issue though I'm betting TM will send you the calibration utility first. Who knows, it might work.
  18. Pots are not necessarily bad. I have a 24 year old bass guitar that has 3 pots and they work perfectly. No scratching, static or noise. I have other much newer bases where the pots are noisey. If these pedals are using pots, hopefully they are quality components. If they are not quality, then I'll just have to find out what the best cleaner is for them. Some cleaners can make even cheap pots seem like quality pots for a long time. Then again, I've always had my eye on some simpeds, but the $$$ is a little daunting!
  19. I think konkussion and Apples got their wires crossed due to not having the complete picture and circumstances. Unfortunate for it to result in dis-rep because they are both correct once the whole picture is in view, and both probably incorrect if the whole picture is not in view :-)
  20. If it matters, I've not had any issues and I've used my throttle while plugged into mobo usb ports, also my 24" Dell monitor and also my 19" Dell monitor (currently plugged in) usb hub ports. When using the mobo usb ports or when using the 19" monitor usb hub ports, the throttle stays lit when I go into standby. The only way to get the lights out is to unplug it and plug it back in after entering standby, which I usually do every night. When I had it plugged into the 24" monitor's usb hub port, it still would stay lit, but I just hit the power button on the monitor and the lights on the throttle would go out. It stays lit when I power off the 19" monitor. Bottom line, even with Dell, it would seem that they use a different usb hub on the 19" and 24", so I'm not sure how revealing it would be to try to narrow down what mobo might be causing this, especially when out of all the components you might have connected via usb, the only one tanking is the WH throttle. Rather than everyone scample and panic, one thing is for certain and that is the WH throttle seems to have a defect and it does not seem like there is anything an end-user can do to cause, or prevent the failure. Also do keep in mind that not all the throttles are failing too. Also, since noone has reported smoke or burning smells, I tend to think the problem is firmware related and not hardware related and hope TM can produce a firmware that actually does lock the firmware the way they claimed the last firmware update was supposed to do.
  21. When I had my MFD attached to my 8" touchscreen I used velcro. I would not let the velcro touch the surface of the screen though.
  22. Abit IN9 32x MAX - no issues. I'm not sure what this data is going to tell anyone. I think a compiled list of mobo's where the throttle bricked would be more telling. Just MHO.
  23. From the NP link you posted: "When you downloaded, and installed the latest software. If you look in the system device manager, is the camera still using the 2.41 TrackIR drivers? Several steps to try - 1 - Try moving the TrackIR camera to another USB port, and allow Windows to detect and reinstall the newer drivers. 2 - If the automatic reinstall does not find the new drivers then we are going to need to manually update the drivers. - Open the system device manager, and scroll down to the NaturalPoint device listing. - Right click on the TrackIR camera and select update drivers - During the update wizard, you will need to point to the NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Drivers folder" The person with the issue had already installed the newest driver and the Support person already knows that since the driver is installed already, if/when Windows detects the device, it will install the driver the user just installed onto the particular USB port. He goes on to step 2 to force, thus ensuring that some corrupt OEM file is not picking up the wrong location for the driver and having the user manually point Windows to the driver. He is not in any way instructing the user to let Windows install some default driver, and he also knows that Windows 'should' pick the driver the user just installed. I could see how one might think differently, but the original user with the problem stated right away that he did in fact already install the latest driver.
  24. I actually only use the WH throttle. I'm still using my old (modded) Cougar stick with it though, instead of the WH stick. The WH stick feels good, I just prefer, and am used to THIS Cougar stick. But........... If you are into DCS-A10, you are really missing something special right now if you don't at least have the TM Hog throttle. You just may have to experience it to understand it. Pretty awesome to me.
  25. You just joined today and this is post #1 for you. Not intentionally trying to imply you are another anti-WH ghoul, but, hey. I have everything either velcro'd or screwed down so I cannot tell which weighs the most but I think the throttle is heavier. As far as the buttons on the throttle, they seem solid as heck to me. You would have to be in a fit of rage to break a toggle switch. Play in the throttle? Well, they are split throttles. I've read where users have posted that the throttles have some lateral wiggle. The forward-backward movement of the throttle feels almost like they put hydraulics and dampeners in them. It's really a good feel. I have no complaints. 100% kudos to TM on everything about the throttle. I think your post is debunked. Try again.
