Need your rig specs

I have a 6900xt and was thinking of upgrading. With all the not so real gains in actual performance and stupid cost of anything top tier, im hoping AMD comes out with a real banger. Sadly their past shows they always screw it up.

After watching reviews and going thru this flame war\5090 banter, I personally will keep my 6900xt and 5800x3D. Maybe when the 9800x3D combo drops from.$750 to like$450 at Micro Center, I might do that upgrade. Just seems the value isn't there. I play on the Odyssey G9 and I lock the.frames at 60fps with settings maxed out and I love it. The human eye can't see past 60fps anyway. The frame rates are stable and locking it means my hardware doesn't have to work so hard either. Keeps heat, wear & tear down as well. Its been said many times that the CPU is the hold back in this game. I think stable frames with all the eye candy maxed out is better than 9000fps at medium settings and suffers like crazy. Im and hotrod guy too and I can't see paying as much for a GPU as some of the project cars I buy! Maybe I don't live in the same world. Now if the 5090 voodoo fixes all the issues in DCS, then maybe I will sell hotrod or two and get it. Just don't see that happening. Just my$.02

After trail and error, its only the F5 on the 79 Resolve campaign Im having an iusse with. Will do more digging tomorrow tired as all now.

Hi fellas, my rig is as follows 5800x3D 64gb ddr 4 3200 Asus TUF 550b Plus WiFi II RX6900xt with DCS on its own 2TB Nvme I was fine till thanksgiving. I locked my frames at 65fps and cranked everything to max with FSR. Played that way fine forever. I can get over 85fps max settings but way wear out my rig as human cant tell past 60fps. Anyway everything went south after turkey day and i dont know why. Kept messing around for a week or two then the updater stopped. bought the F5 rework and noticed it wasnt there. Did force update. Things still wanky, so right before christmas i did a whole fresh reinstall. played MP mostly and it seemed okish. Stopped playing for a few weeks as x56 stick took a dump. Got Ursa minor. Got installed and just tried to play ,79 Resolve campaign. Looked like garbage and glitchy. Pulled up the overlay AMD software and its getting 37fps max on mission 2. in the air it 44fps. CPU is at 31% utilization and GPU is 42% utilization. I have no clue what is going on! How did this question for GPU turn into a CPU thread? I have a 6900XT wonder if i shoulg gey 7900XTX or wait for new. Im sure it will come back to get a 9800X3D.

Was gonna load up on WW, but after plus all the other post of bad CS i will go with someone else. Thank you.

i have samsung G9 and i love it. deiced whats most imporant then make a list. Is size #1 or 4k or refresh rate? Is $$$ the big factor? After you get that done the monitor will almost select itself.

Try last gen 3080 or 6800-6800xt. way cheaper. even 4070Ti will struggle at 4K with DCS. Id drop to a 1440p if you have to stay in that GPU range

The edges can do that in some games. Im usually so into what ever im playing that i dont notice it. If i do notice it only takes a few seconds and something else grabs my attention. ha ha ha, squirrel. Later Tater

Well this is a hot one. I will share my info for ya. I threw down on a Monster tech a year ago. 47yo 6'5" 240lb fella. Lots of bad joints-esp hips and low back. Car racing will do that. i have used all kinds of chairs and even built my own with the ol junk yard chair. I have never been more comfortable and happier than with this chair. It wasnt cheap and if I had to do over i would bought it sooner than i did. I went ahead and got all the crap on it i wanted and just bent over. It has been well worth it and i will have to say now that i have it, you dont get the shaft, you get a DAMN good chair. Hope i helped. Later Tater

I have the G9 and its great. It does take some getting use to. The curve is something else. I have mine at abut 3ft-4ft away on a vesa mount. Track IR does perfectly fine with it. If you mount it to the wall, just have a friend help you so you can sit in your chair and get the height right. I will say they short screen height is not to my liking, but you will get use to it. I have a 5900x w 64gb ram and a 6900xt pushing it. No problems with the eye candy maxed. Its a personal preference thing really. If you like it, thats all that matters. If ya dont either return it if you can or sell it and try something else. Later Tater

i have a 5900x with 64gb ram and a 6900xt. I run the G9 1440p and i turn most every setting as far as I want it. You will be able to use the G9, just gonna have to turn down they eye candy till a GPU upgrade. Later Tater

I use the Samsung Odyssey G9 1440p and its awesome. Went from a 32" samsung 1440 and have been very happy. Its not as tall as TVs or 16:9s, but you get use to it. Gives you a good field of view. i too would like the new 54" Oled that out, but im not dropping that kinda cash for awhile. Depending on your rig, if you dont want ultrawide, try VR. I myself would like to give it a go. My rig can run it just not sure with reports of the headaches and sickness. Hope i helped some. Later Tater
