  1. I would gladly refund my Razbam modules for cash. I still haven't flown the AV-8B module, and barely have any time in the 15E, and now they're both not only unsupported but not even sold anymore. I feel it's safe to say Razbam has left DCS development.
  2. Looks like they have moved on from DCS.
  3. Is there an easy way to keep two simultaneous installs of DCS installed and accessible? Hypothetically let's say I want the current version installed just how it is, but when installing a new version I want to put it somewhere else in a different folder so I can start either one.
  4. Bump for this. Not only were there canopies for the MiG-21 series without this mirror, but a real pilot would be able to quickly and easily (well, depending on G-Forces...) look around the supports. Those of us without 6DOF VR...Not so much!
  5. Hearing a rumor that it was possible to fix the AI by adding weight somehow, anybody have some more input on this? Did a search but not really finding good info.
  6. If this is the current state of affairs, which I understand to currently be true, then I would once again request for the temporary allowance of AIM-9 together with ALQ-131. It may present a VISUAL discrepancy, however it would better model the capabilities and experience of flying the jet with the restrictions that we currently have in DCS. If and/or when the ALQ-71/72/87/101 series pods get added, I would request at that time for the temporary allowance of AIM-9's with ALQ-131 to be removed as redundant.
  7. Hey Heatblur, I'd like to suggest some development of more AI opponents. Jets that aren't necessarily so detailed or polished like the ones you'd see on your friendly airbase, but jets that are good enough to be in your gunsight. For example... MiG-21M, 21SM, 21MF. The existing 21Bis module is great, but the AI flight model is total garbage with the jet sometimes turning more like an F-16 than a MiG-21. The radar is also shockingly good compared to the F-4Es APQ-120. The M/SM/MF series are a little less advanced than the 21Bis. The M has older RP-21 radar, the SM and MF have RP-22, but only the MF has R-60 missiles. Building one of these as an AI opponent would allow for a more realistic experience going up against the Phantom's classic adversary in the skies. (Earlier versions like the 21F-13, 21PF, 21PFM, and 21S, would of course be great to have, but would be probably better suited up against an as yet unreleased F-4B/C/D series jet.) An earlier or export MiG-23 like the MiG-23M, or export variant like the 23MF and/or MS. The 23M and 23MF would be very similar, other than the export Sapfir23 radar on the MF being downgraded and the MF using the R-13M instead of R-60. The 23MS would have the MiG-21s RP-22 radar, and weapons fit of R-3S, R-3R, R-13M. Earlier or export Floggers would be great opponents to the F-4E and historically fought against it, and the 23MS in particular has some famous history against the F-14. An earlier SU-22 Fitter version. We currently have a late model SU-22M4 modeled, which is great. An earlier version would have R-3R/R-13M missiles as an option and could have fighter mission types like intercept, escort, CAP, etc added to represent their occasional use as fighters. Iraqi SU-22s went up against Iranian F-4Es, and of course Libyan Fitters have some famous history against the F-14. I know Heatblur is busy, but so many of the existing cold war modules would greatly benefit from some more adversaries.
  8. Any chance we could get the ALQ-131 on an inboard pylon together with AIM-9s on the rails? Or, if were certain the 131 couldnt be used with missiles, an older generation jamming pod like ALQ-119, ALQ-101, ALQ-87, compatible with Sidewinders? The Combat Tree modification made it possible to run ECM pods on both inboard pylons together with Sidewinders. During Vietnam this was typically one ALQ-87 and one ALQ-101 during air to air missions. I seem to recall that this was also passed on to other jets outside the E series in various upgrade programs but I'm not totally sure about that.
  9. Could I sugest a "Jester Context Helper Bar" option? An option to tick on or off to show a small status bar in a corner of the window showing what mode Jester is in and what the context actions are. So in top right corner you might see: BVR: • TGT SEL, ▄ LOCK, •• RESET You lock the BVR target, the helper bar becomes: BVR LOCK: •/▄ BRK LOCK, •• BRK LOCK + UNFOCUS This can help train us on context actions while in the sim and as future actions are added help discover them without resorting to RTFM. Edit: also because I rarely if ever get a target on scope or found by Jester before I have visual on the target, I would love a "HES RIGHT THERE LOCK HIM UP!" function some day similar to the Cue Eyeballs function for the LANTIRN pod on the F-14. A single button press to enable a ring in my view that I put over the little dot i can see coming my way, and another single press to initiate Jester trying to lock him.
  10. For me I usually just leave it in the default setting how the jet starts, so yes, auto.
  11. Works for me although it does seem like Jester is more stingy with chaff and flares than he used to be in prior patches.
  12. I'm just curious here but I understand that currently the ECA and ALQ-167 add weight and drag, but not yet functional. Hopefully some day they'll be working, as it is now it looks like Having said that, it looks like we are allowed to load AIM-7 Sparrows in the forward two racks with the TARPS pod attached... Would this have been a viable and approved loadout? If so, was it ever used?
  13. I think the delay increased with one of the recent patches but yes it's just a weird graphical thing.
  14. Rest assured it's your anti-virus that's the problem here. The latest updates to AVG anti-virus for example have it occasionally deleting parts of Windows Defender or other anti-virus or firewall programs as viruses. Mine has made it so I can't even open the Windows Defender app. I had this same problem triggered by trying to fly an F-14. Just exempt all DCS folders.
  15. Sloppy antivirus software. Nothing more. Mine did it to me just the other day. Heck my anti-virus is even reporting my firewall as a virus now.
  16. Thinking of a scenario I'd like to make. Is it possible to have Neutral / Gray nation aircraft and SAMs in a sim and to make them hostile to both sides, but only when targets are in a certain zone? For example a pair of fighters patrols over a zone and will attack either Red or Blue for entering the zone.
  17. Please don't do this to the Tomcat, at least without an option to totally disable it. I suspect that system is why the F-4E runs like total crap on my PC, it's just too old to power it!
  18. I shall list reasons then: Two seat combat capable jets existed IRL and have been quite common at least in the USAF. As I said before, it represents an opportunity to get a dual-role trainer into DCS. It gives you a chance, to put someone in a cockpit and go "Look, THIS is how and where you line this thing up on the tanker", etc. Furthermore, it also presents an opportunity for ED to develop their own version of Jester AI. For those who like flying the F-15 but may not want to be so involved in the operation of the radar, it would be a great module to sell together with a simple AI "guy in back" who will help run the radar systems for you, tune the radios, etc, thus offering an alternative option to simply selecting easy mode. Maybe even sell it as it's own stand-alone module and co-develop the GIB AI with Heatblur. I don't know. But if you do the work for a 15D, it could also mean an easier time developing an F/A-18D, or F/A-18F, or F-16D. If it's developed with a GIB AI, then you could sell it as a completely stand alone module and market it towards those who like having a little help with the onboard systems. "The F-15 for F-4E and F-14 owners" The 15D was used by some F-15 users as an ad-hoc ground attack platform prior to the introduction of the F-15E. IIRC, the IAF used them loaded up with GBU-8 or GBU-15 TV guided bombs to strike a camp in Morocco or somewhere like that, and then had a second wave of 15D's come by and sprinkle MK-82s over it to eliminate the reinforcements that arrived. Although ED has said they will not be fully rendering the F-15's systems, should they ever decide to fully render all of the features, it would be a great "in between" jet. There is also no guarantee we will see any further development on the 15E module. The best thing is if they build it, you don't have to buy it. I own the FC3 F-15C and the half finished F-15E without an AI WSO, and if I were going to buy another F-15, I'd probably be more inclined to buy a two seater with an AI GIB than another single seat jet.
  19. If the AJS-37 weren't already in game, I'd have to think a JA-37 wouldn't make money. But given that we have the AJS-37 I'd think you could sell an "FC3+" level module to go with it. I know they'd have to make some stuff up F-35 style or frankenjet it like the existing F-5, F-16, F/A-18, etc, but I'd expect it to still get some love as long as they got the flight model done right.
  20. Seems strange for them to do it like that, and would the 24J have been in service up to the AJS-37 retirement? You may be onto something about the cooling. Perhaps they couldn't run the lines for the gas to the outer pylons, and couldn't get or didn't have the Navy style pylons that carry small bottles for the missiles.
  21. For me the RB-74 will not track for head-on shots from any pylon. Tested at altitudes between 8,000 and 15,000 feet against MiG-19 and MiG-25. Works great for rear aspect shots though. There is a disabled AIM-9M in the Entry file, enabling it gives you an AIM-9M mounted directly to the main hardpoint, without an adapter rail, that will not launch or tone. Is there some reason the AIM-9M is not enabled for the AJS-37, or that the most modern sidewinders can only mount on the inner hardpoints where we want to carry other items? I find it a little odd that the outboard wing pylons seem to be there exclusively for the AIM-9 missiles, as they don't carry anything else, but they can only use the older models?
  22. Better yet, how about just making it functional again across all modules? Absolutely it should be enabled/disabled by a difficulty option with the ability to force it server side, but the radio is probably the most annoying part of the Viggen. Having it workable with easy comms would take lots of frustration away from new or casual users. I postulate that taking frustration away from new or casual users is a good thing. It means more people buying into DCS. You can eliminate them from your servers by making their life miserable with enforced difficulty options.
  23. It sounds like there simply isn't enough released information to do it authentically to Heatblur's standards. I wouldn't mind seeing it done as an "FC3+" level release as it would be apparently the best we could really do right now. With the Kola map, I'm hoping some day we'll get an A-6 Intruder and A-7 Corsair, and that someone will re-create the good old days of campaigns on the North Cape. I want a JA-37 mostly for use as an AI jet. Jaktviggens and MiG-21Bis circling over Neutral Sweden and Finland, ready to pounce upon stray fighters and bombers from either side while the Reds and NATO fight it out. IYKYK. I'm SO incredibly grateful that Heatblur finally did some justice to the Tomcat, the flight model in Microprose's rendition makes it feel quite chubby in a dogfight, but I'm still waiting for someone to recapture the feeling of a 1980's Cold War gone hot... IN A VIDEO GAME! Don't need that one on my 2025 bingo card...
  24. I'd hope that they'd alter the flight model sensors and weapons on the FC jet to match the full (except for all the stuff they aren't modeling) featured version to keep them on the same level competitively.
  25. Wish: A two seat, dual control capable, and accurately modeled F-15D. Sell it as an upgrade or a tied in module. Offers the ability to put a newer player in the front seat and directly "show them" instead of just telling them.
