  2. the crazy part about this is he most likely had to change up his routine for the low ceiling. I cant imagine the pucker factor of accidentally getting your head stuck in the clouds at that speed
  3. i think most people will try and point you to MP with a nugget friendly squad. Its most likely the fastest way to pick up the tricks of the trade. Otherwise there are various docs/apps floating around with tactics, missile envelopes ect.

  6. Nothing really that pertains to DCS itself. These guys do Medevac in the sierra nevadas, They are based out of my local airport, just be prepared to pay 10k for the ride.Ouch on top of ouch!
  7. I am a huge fan of the updates and can completely understand how things can change. I deal with it everyday IRL. The goals of this fine company are directly in line with my flightsim fantacies. To me, ED is "the hand that feeds me" (no one else can come close as far as modern combat sims go IMO). Why complain? To have frequent updates is always nice.
  8. I still think its a jump to conclusion to assume that because of this announcement that the 15/27 are coming before the bug. Even though its still very possible that they are for various reasons stated in this thread it is also possible that development is just ramping up on these aircraft while the bug has been developed over the past few years, after all, alooooong time ago wags said the p-51 was beveloped along side the next fast jet. I'm sure a lot has changed since then and its all good either way. Thanks to ED and thier partners, its an exciting time to be a simmer

  11. In this case I believe you get what you pay for. Between this and the other modules im sure i will still use the huey at least every so often for years down the road. There is only a small group of people that do this stuff on this level, so that creates demand. Very satisfied.
  12. I'm not sure exactly what condition you attempted to fly in, I figure I should mention that an aircraft usually has a published maximum x-wind limitation( not sure of the p-51's). Sometimes it's just not a good idea to try and take off at all.   13. now that you mention it, that makes sense. I would venture to guess that using the ALCS in an emergency would depend on all sorts of different scenarios and be discussed between the pilot, LSOs, safety officers ect. I really have no idea how it is used in normal everyday operations though

  16. Pilot partially incompacitaded. Such as hypoxia maybe. Loss of visual cues like the HUD. I may be wrong but Im assuming ACL is part of normal Carrier Quals. I forget where I heard a theory from a pilot who was having trouble with frequent bolters. He believed that because of the ACL bringing the hook down at the exact same spot every time, it created a divot contributing to hook skips.

  21. I started this thread awhile back. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100018 I figured it may be appropriate here as well. Specifically the difference in tire pressure when flying off the boat compared to land based flying and the effect it can have on the A/C when not taken into consideration. please ED:thumbup:. Because landing on a postage stamp at night is not enough of a challenge for me :megalol:
  22. Oh I didn't mean to imply that it is impossible to go ship to shore I believe that they almost always have a divert airfield available when flying at sea. He just seems to imply that it requires some consideration and maybe some different techniques then normal. I am no hornet expert by any means so I don't know the specifics of the different tire settings for operations. I did a quick search for the article I referenced but i ran short on time. found this in the F-18c natops preflight exterior inspection: Tire - TREAD WEAR, PRESSURE 250 PSI (ashore) 350 PSI (afloat) I brought that article up because it would be something i would like to see ED incorporat. I mean if you want as real as it gets, its little things like this that may be an after thought for anyone except the men and women that do it for real.
  23. Oh man. This is a pretty old topic. I'm glad to see others get some enjoyment from these as well. I was disappointed after I blew through all the issues haha. Anyways I was so curious about what happens to that guy that was grounded. I found a LinkedIn link for the guy and it turns out he was currently still flying for the navy as a hornet IP. That was my happy ending hahA PS as for the CO not knowing the difference in tire pressure, I think I can safely assume he was well aware. It was probably added drama for the show. I know being careless with fuel management is a crime punishable by hanging
