  1. I've just finished the campaign, and overall I have to say good work Eagle86. I got more used to the voice overs and characters as the campaign went on, and all the missions were interesting and challenging. Having the wingman along lets the player decide whether to do everything themselves to increase the difficulty, or relay on the wingmen to help to make things more manageable. The only things I didn't like in the later stages: - That refueling hercules is really slow in the Tbilisi mission, if you upped the tanker speed to 240 control would be a lot easier. I couldn't use fixed flaps because it was too slow, but auto flaps keeps changing the flight angle. I ended up cracking the nozzles down a bit and just about made it. - Escorting the red plane was impossible for me. The AI goes into vertical maneouvres I can't live with, and I kept ending up too far away. I made use of the skip mission for that one. Thanks for a fun campaign in an under-served airframe. Hope you do some more.
  2. I think in the briefing text it mentions changing the jets coordinate settings to accept them in the format they're given in - I didn't know that was possible, so I learnt from this!
  3. I just flew this mission last week, the coordinates were correct and the bomb hit dead on. Sorry I can't offer any help other than reassurance that the mission is correct. I'm using open beta, in case that makes a difference.
  4. I think what Elmo is saying is the optimum setting depends on the users configuration. It looked good on the dev's screen, but might not look good on mine. Given that the best setting is not the same for everyone, they're going to give the option of changing to taste. In the meantime netizensmith has explained the file to change it in manually for now here: I think people are being unfair to Razbam in their reactions here to be honest. I'd like to balance the negativity by saying thanks to Razbam for the harrier and it's continued development.
  5. Perhaps the one that netizensmith mentioned a few posts above?
  6. Maybe it's a preview of a new module, DCS: Zombie.
  7. That mission 3 is not as bad as that, once you know where the infantry are it makes perfect sense, but a bit more talk-on would be really helpful. It's not possible to advance beyond that due to a last-minute bug though, so you may be better waiting for the next patch and using the time to perfect your skills
  8. I think you are being somewhat unfair here. If you don't like the style that's fine, but you can't mandate how the game should be played for all. I can accept the voiceovers and enjoy the campaign for what it is, even as I recognise it's not the most realistic from a procedural point of view. I do think it's hard to know what were getting with campaigns unless the creator releases YouTube videos previewing one of the actual missions.
  9. Remember the gbu doesn't acquire guidance until about ten seconds from impact, unlike the maverick which acquires guidance on the rail. This means you have to give it a ballistic drop which will put it in the right place to see the laser spot when it goes active, and with enough energy to correct is trajectory to hit it.
  10. One more thing: I've found that most campaigns require me to dig in a bit more to the aircraft - so I might think I'm ok at flying whatever the aircraft is, but but the campaigns usually force me to get better either at systems, feel or muscle memory. In this case I would say you need to be highly comfortable with switching between different designation methods, using the targeting pod and slaving between waypoints and target designations etc.
  11. It is doable, I did it in three attempts after getting hit by SAMs twice. Are you using your wingman? Also, remember you can review the task list using the F10 menu. Edit: the rocket load is broken after Razbam removed the original rocket from the harrier, so if you want to use the rockets you need to change it in the mission planner. You can complete without the rockets though.
  12. No problem, I can be patient!
  13. Hi Eagle86, I just tried it again and like before I wait and wait and nothing happens. One of the infantry groups goes towards the building at the helicopter's 11 o'clock position, but stops about half-way between the building and the helicopter. The other goes to the helicopter's three o'clock position and I think enters a building aas I can't see them anymore. I circled for fifteen minute before quitting. Track file is here if it helps: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mbw2eesqb3t4tij/The Chemist.trk?dl=0 Edit: forgot to mention: Cheers!
  14. Hi Eagle86, the chopper did arrive and unload the troops, all seemed to be going ok but nothing happened after that. Roughly how long does it taken then to plant the charges?
  15. Correct units - So far it feels like a low threat environment for the player, although higher threat for friendly forces. I haven't worried about my survivability that much, but on occasions you do have to be on the ball to keep the ground forces safe. Edit to add - the units all seem plausible. AI - Hasn't done anything hideous yet, but then there's not a sense of tight coordination with dynamic AI elements. There are friendly forces to coordinate with, but it feels very much like a set of triggers making things happen rather than a complex organism. Immersion - There are statics on deck on the Tarawa which add to the feel, and there are fires burning in the towns which is plausible. Missions include other aircraft and ground forces, and the scenarios are at least somewhat plausible. Nobody's asking you to take Moscow with a single harrier or anything. The player has a voice through the radio traffic, and he doesn't sound like me, or like my imagined fighter pilot version of myself, but that's a personal view obviously! Sometimes I'd like a little more talking onto targets. It's tough finding infantry with a TPOD under a time limit. I think overall i'd give it 6.5/10 so far. I think I've just done mission 3. Edit, 6.5 feels harsh, more like 7!
  16. Hi, The troops enter the target and tell me they are going to place charges, but then nothing else happens and I just circle and watch my fuel burn down. Have I missed a step?
  17. Also, I should mention there are custom voice overs and incidental music in the missions. There don't appear to be any pdf docs or anything, so all content is within the game. The briefing for the first mission included target images and enough information to help get the job done so I didn't feel like I was missing having a pdf file.
  18. Yes, I had that too. It seemed almost like empty pods had been loaded it something. Not sure if it's a campaign issue or a harrier issue.
  19. OK, so far I've played the first mission twice and been caught out both times. There's plenty going on in the mission so far, and a time pressure that keeps the pace up. There's a system of radio handling that works well, and adds one more thing to your task load which I have found positive so far. You can tell that English is not the author's first language as some of the briefing text is not quite right, and the first mission is not particularly simulating a NATO way of doing things, so if you're looking for deep procedural simulation of air controls that's not what this is. This first mission places the onus on you to find the assigned targets and take them out, but the target area is a good size for that, e.g. there is armour around an airfield to find and destroy. So far I am happy with the purchase.
  20. Purchased but not played yet, might get chance tonight.
  21. Have you actually purchased them?
  22. Now you're just being provocative with no basis for what you're writing. What is the benefit of that eh?
  23. I think we are all very used to the fact that we don't pay for the base game. There's no subscription, no one off-fee, no support fee. Something has to pay for everything somewhere along the line, and if it wasn't done like this all the modules would be more expensive.
  24. Playing Reflected's Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney campaign I have noticed repeated instances of damaged AI fighters deciding that the best thing they can do is fly inverted with flaps out at 110 kts, usually heading North. They can do this even when the engine is broken and the prop is not turning. I can't yet reproduce this in a quick mission, but here are two long tracks which show this (I hope). You have to play through until the dogfighting over Caen... Being long tracks they are too big for the forum, so I've put them in this Dropbox folder: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qzb3zsbr07rqrdm/AACVa_pXjsxyDGvdb1HXmyvka?dl=0 Cheers!
  25. I think I've got a track where it happens with a German plane, only here his engine was dead too! The only thing is the track is an hour long, is that still going to be useful to anyone?
