What's your video card and CPU?
rocketeer replied to leafer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
What is wrong with the 7800GS? Thought it's the latest AGP card. -
Wow! I don't have th2go, let alone three projectors. Must be really nice. If I were you Pete, I'd put another screen at the center so that the edges of the three screens touch to minimize the gaps in between. Then the big picture will be seamless and really awesome. My plan is to get the bugeye three head display (it's quite a big sum) and use it with the th2go. Then add a monitor to display the gauges, if you can figure out how to make FC 1.12 work with the f4glass.

Need nVidia AGP card for Intel
rocketeer replied to rocketeer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks guys for your input. I had, I guess, the wrong impression, as someone told me before that you need AMD chip to run nVidia cards, and I have Intel chip and currently an ATI AGP card, 9800XT. I also read it in a magazine that if you have Intel chip you have to run ATI card. Guess that was wrong again. If the graphics cards are independent of the chips then that's great. I am thinking of switching to nVidia because I'm thinking of getting the triplehead2go, which unfortuately doesn't work well for ATI cards, but it works for a long list of nVidia cards. -
I'm not familiar with nVidia cards. I need a good one that can run on intel and AGP mobo. I checked nvidia's website and it lists those that can run on AGP, like the 7800 GS, but how do I tell which ones run on Intel? Thanks in advance.

Last year I used the matrox parhelia card with three monitors. Had the same problem as you, couldn't zoom out much. The maximum zoom out was still not enough, seeing too much of the cockpit. Several others also reported this problem. I would love to get the th2go, as the parhelia card is way too slow. The th2go would allow me to use my faster ATI card. But waiting for ATI to resolve its driver support issue for the th2go. As reported in reviews, the th2go works fine with nVidia cards and not ATI ones.

if you face the ka-50 directly, it's vikhr has longer range than your aim-9. it'd shoot you down first. i tried taking cover between hills and pop up near enough to shoot with aim-9 but it's still difficult. it'd fire multiple vikhrs at you which is difficult to evade. now i discovered that i can use the maverick like the ka-50 uses its vikhr. and the maverick has a longer range, about 8.9 nm. since the ka-50 is slow moving, the maverick can hit it. better still, the maverick is fire and forget, while the vikhr is laser guided and needs to be continually lased all the way to the target.

Use the Quick Reply at the end of a thread. At the top left there are 8 icons. The second right most icon says 'insert image' when you mouse over it. Put the URL of the image here at the pop up box. eg. http://photos.airliners.net/photos/photos/7/1/9/0636917.jpg The picture will then appear immediately in the Quick Reply message box. This I find to be the easiest and it's WYSWYG. You'd see the image in the message box before you post.

I guess not many of us can afford three projectors, which would be ulimate to have three big screens. Something like the following would be cool. Maybe using the matrox triplehead2go adaptor box for the three monitors at the top, connected to one of the two outputs from a video card, the other output for the monitor below that will show the gauges, using the F4Glass or the simmeters software.

Problems after loman installation
rocketeer replied to rocketeer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
thanks ViperVJG for the info. i could not find "Pilot-USA-G01.tga.ori" but I have several "Pilot-USA-G01.tga". One of type CCD, one of type DDS. I put back the DDS type file and now it's ok. Thanks! thanks superkungfu for the info on modman. from now on i'd use that instead of loman. didn't even heard about modman! it seems to take care of installation better than loman. it fixed some of my problems. cool! -
I tried installing the new A-10 cockpit and kneeboard mods from lockon files site. There was some problem durin the installations, some complaint of some files not matching and about bazaar/temptexture folder. I couldn't even uninstall, which was another problem. Now I have a black cockpit screen, and ghostly legs with a transparent kneeboard. I tried writing to rapier, the author of the kneeboard mod but his email at foxthree_71@hotmail.com bounced. Does anyone know how to fix this? thanks in advance!

i just bought three modules of goflight. 1. GF-LGT. It has the trim, gear lever and flaps switch 2. GF-RP48. It has 4 rotary switches and 8 pushbuttons 3. GF-T8. It has 8 toggle switches. I find it more fun being able to lift a lever for gear, flip some switches for flap, lights etc. push buttons for air brakes, ECM, atltitude hold etc. Having a few modules become a mini cockpit. It's easy to map the keys using the software GF keys. The official software GF Config is only for MS flightsimulator. For those of you thinking of a mini cockpit, this might work for you. Each module comes with a long USB cable. Just plug to PC and run the software to map the keys. Somebody has contributed the labels in pdf format for all the lomac commands at the goflight site under the support section. I printed my labels from there and cut and pasted them beside the designated areas beside the buttons and switches. I even cut out a yellow with black stripes warning piece for my ejection and jettison buttons. Goflight sells the rack to hold the modules, but they are very expensive for a piece of wood. I just paid $5 at office max for a large black foam board and folded it like a shoe box, but designed it to tilt forward at 30 degrees so that I can read the labels easier. thought of sharing this info with you guys. cheers. hey fufunka thanks for the info on the freeware glass panel for lomac. i'd check it out. all the while i thought it's only for f4. being able to view instruments from another monitor for lomac is such a big news to me. i've been jealous of f4 gamers having the ability to build cockpit with glass panels. i'm so surprised that there is not much publicity about this. i understand the sim meters is new. but the glass panel freeware modified from f4 to lomac maybe have been around for a while? i thought many people would be jumping and shouting about this.
-
yesterday i read about the sim meters. it seems that it allows lomac to display the gauges to a second monitor. that'd be awesome! it'd be great to fly in hud view, then look down at a second monitor to view all the gauges. however, i fly mainly the a-10 and it seems that the sim meters don't have the maverick monitor as an output. another question is whether it can be used together with the matrox t2g, to have a three monitor super wide view plus the monitor for gauges. that'd be so immersive. is this thing is for real i wonder how come this forum and other places are not talking about it, even if it's just demo version?

I could think of a few reasons why the F-18 was left out. 1. Not enough info =>don't think so since they can get info on the F-15, A-10, and F-16. And the F-18 has been around for some time now. 2. A2G and MFD functions too difficult to develop => don't think so either, since they are planning to do the F-16 which has A2G and MFDs. So I'd go with Cosmonaut's guess that ED is planning to sell F-18 in the future separately, under a title not linked to Ubisoft's LOCK-ON. Of course I'd buy the game. ED is da best in flight sim. It's just that this will be a long wait though. Pity as I think the F-18 would be THE most popular aircraft, 1. Being American (we have so many Russians ones, and now with the new SU-25T and later the KA-50) helps tip the balance, and 2. Being multi-role its so great. It can kill bandits, shoot HARMS and Mavs and drop bombs. So versatile. 3. It provides carrier ops to the American side, which will be fun
-
Thanks Shepski. Just curious. Why in reality they don't make the A-10 be able to carry three Mavericks on the TER? It'd save the precious hardpoints. Same for the Mk-20. Why not on the TER? The Su-25 can carry some load with a smaller frame. Is weight the only issue? I like to carry more firepower. I know I'd be heavier and slower to turn. But I can unload a few Mavs from a stand-off distance.
-
Well, sliding the missile effectiveness more to the right will definitely help. Also, if you fire off a mav from a far distance, it'd fly high first before coming down. This should give it momentum and a good angle. Usually this is not a problem. But if you shoot from a short distance, it'd be better to shoot from a higher altitude and have a steeper angle. It'd increase the kill rate. Having a steeper angle for better kill rate is especially true for guns and rockets, due to the torchlight effect.
-
Thought the F-18 is the most popular plane to add, with both A2A and A2G capability plus it's carrier-based. It would make sense to include this very popular plane. It'd help much in sales.

Well, 1.1 is out, post what you think...
rocketeer replied to kdittyr's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Terrain looks more colourful (more yellow plots of land) Terrain looks more detailed. Seems like lots more stuff on the ground. A10 turns much faster. :D Overall response is better. HUD fonts more legible. :D Noticed some minor bugs which I've reported. FPS increased. Everything feels smooth. No more occasional jerkiness. :D Yet to try to season package and movie camera package. Good job, ED! -
1. Wingman does not carry out my command to strike ground targets, just keep sticking to me. 2. In 1.0 switching targets didn't work, but then it worked in 1.1 demo. Now in 1.1 it does not work again.
