I don't think smart scaling is the solution, I think better light reflation properties are the right way to solve this issue... textures are now being done with specular layers, and that makes them reflect more or less light, I think ED should use the same technique to add these light reflection properties into textures of LOD's (or LOD's themselves, I don't know how they do it, but you get the idea) I can tell you that in EDGE it is bit easier to see targets now... right now in release version the textures just blend in too easy, and it's because terrain behind it has same light reflection "property" as the aircraft itself... so when colors are similar (which is why they use camo patern in the first place) they just blend in too well. Same thing is when there are shadows, same as more light reflection, they create high contrast with background (which are not in shadow) and it makes them easier to spot... EDGE is also being slowly changed to have I think all objects in game create shadow (buildings, terrain/hills) and it makes things more realistic visually. The only problem I still see it far LOD's, they don't seem to have specular in them yet.

I'm a drama queen sometimes also so you're forgiven :D Anyway, I think ED will eventually change other cockpits to have mirror reflection be properly animated like this also.

yeah, I'm not touching min/max FoV, only default one (which I always use when I fly).

I tried fighting the MiG-15 for the first time... I managed to get into 2-3 good firing positions (it was always in climb) but could not get any hits (clearly I need to re-learn leading and estimating where to lead).. eventually I disengaged and extended... shortly after ran out of fuel... and glided a fair bit and managed to land in nick of time (another 1/5km more and I wouldn't make it). I have a question though: How can I adjust FoV? I want to reduce it and SnapViewsDefault.lua doesn't have it... is it in dcs/mods/aircrafts/f-86f/views.lua? If so, which bit?

I have that OpenGL Triple buffering ON and I don't see this glitch... weird.

no worries to higher the resolution... I think also they should use 2 screens for the OR instead of 1... each screen to cover 1 eye. That should also cover wider FoV, which I think is also needed in addition for much higher resolution (you must be able to read the instruments and HUD without need to lean in) As SkateZilla said, it's the extra viewports that make massive FPS hit, not the resolution (provided you have good video card) and as even with 1 screen you are still running 2 viewports, running it with 2 screens won't make much difference at all.
-
Problem is... yes you can lean forwards and get close look into instrument you want to read... but who wants to fly or have (or can do) combat like this? What are you going to do... keep track of the bogey or keep leaning forward to read instrument(s), check speed, altitude etc? Also it's one thing to have game pause, not flying and lean like this... you shouldn't be doing this while actually flying (or having combat) So while some say they can read.... it is actually not practical to do so (which is why most others say they cannot read the instruments/hud/etc)

Enable "User Snap-View Saving" in options (Misc. tab) copy the .../DCS/Config/View/SnapViewsDefault.lua file paste it into ...Users/yourpcusername/Saved Games/DCS/Config/View folder then for any aircraft you want change the [13] = {--default view section change the viewAngle to FoV ° you desire then every monitor will have that FoV (and for 3 monitors with each having its own viewport, you will have total FoV across monitors as 3x the FoV you set in this file. PS: 3x the viewports, the more FPS will be lower (as game is rendered 3x)
-
gavagai, I just tried your settings (only I was running 3 monitors - but still only 1 camera setting) and your mission... I still can't see this glitch on my end.

What happens when you put 30 Sabres in one server?

why oh why did you have to pick these 2 guys making the "music background"... I could not watch the whole thing because I could not listen to them any more :D BUt yeah... this MP warping state is the No1 killer of MP gaming in DCS (for me)... I doubt I will ever go back to MP if this is not sorted some day... sadly -
You can use 3 screens options, but then you should reduce your in-cockpit FoV to around 60-70°, that will give very natural FoV and your wings will no longer look like they are of Su-27 :)

I don't have this issue on my end, the smoke looks fine. I have 7970 also, same Cat 14.4 drivers and I'm on Win 7 64bit. What are your in-game settings? I'll try replicate your in-game settings (if not already) and mission you have it in (attach it please, maybe it's some weather settings)

I just tried making my own mission (as per your steps) and then I tried your mission, in both cases I do not get a crash so I can't replicate.

same here... don't back out now :D

stealing bread when you are hungry (and can't afford to buy it) is not always wrong... stealing bread from the hungry is wrong, stealing from the rich is not wrong... the comment saying "stealing bread is wrong because someone else will be hungry" proves my point... the rich are never hungry. Whoever said otherwise is full of it (or just lying) :music_whistling: PS: Law is not always right/just... law is made up rules (sometimes just, sometimes unjust/dishonest people aka politicians) to suit someone's needs/ideas.etc. Fact that you are not allowed to beat up someone that broke into your home (if you catch him) is morally wrong... rule/law should be, if someone breaks the law by entering my lawful space, they are taking my rights... so likewise I should then be able to take their rights there on the spot and beat the living s**t in them... and there are plenty of other examples that are like this... I rest my case

I would like to hear/read about people's honest experiences (how usable it really is in DCS) once they've had it for a while and novetly 'wears off'.

hm... interesting indeed -
That depends on what kind of baby are we talking about? Human? No :D

Looking pretty nice :) Would love to have the Gazelle in my DCS instal.

New grass can be turned on or off (in testers build) and as it's still bit buggy some testers have it off... Hence why you don't see it on some screenshots.

erm... looks kind of like a headrest... but could be pilot... on second thought meh, who cares, the screen looks great :)
