One can't live without the other... and if you do... there you have Korean air war :joystick:

AMD Catalyst 14.6 (Beta) Drivers
Kuky replied to Mustang's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, 3 in eyefinity on HD7970 + 1, then remaining 2 on R7 240. I installed the new beta driver and it seems to work bit better, it stopped resetting resolution and position of one of the monitors. I have found though that exporting radar in FC3 makes gave very stutters... Using only 3 monitors in eyefinity and game runs much smoother... -
they are onto you outlawal2 :D just kidding :)

keep trolling

wow... didn't know that you can tell if aircraft is stealthy just by looking at it... I think they need to hire you :) And while you're at it, you should tell them that the SU-27 airframe is not most perfect (so far) aerodynamic airframe... any aircraft can do a cobra and not flip to the side... or go in reverse and engines will not stall... man just what were those ruskies thinking?!

AMD Catalyst 14.6 (Beta) Drivers
Kuky replied to Mustang's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am so pissed off right now... I've been trying to setup 6 monitors using 2 video cards (HD7970 and R7 240) and all I'm getting is rubish...one monitor (on R7 240 that's connected to HDMI port via VGA adaptor) keep reseting its position and resolution every time DCS starts (when it switches/turns off screens when loading, or windows restart)... I am going nuts. Why can't these bloody programmers make shit that once in time just f**ing works! So I'm gonna have to try this beta driver but I am certain it won't help (I can't remember last time that I had driver update and that it helped some issue.. it's always either no difference or some new shit is broken... what rubish AMD has become.. or maybe always was) -
Oh look what I found... new Lada :)
-
Happy birthday... but no party for you... keep working on that MiG-21! :ranting: After it's done you can party for a month! :D
-
has to be humor... the Lada car actually did change througout the years... I would know... my dad had 2 of them, and quite frankly it was still nice car... and great for tougher winter conditions with lots of snow and ice :) The Su-27 family also developed through time so someone just doesn't like Russians :D
-
Go easy on them... they are busy with the MiG, don't put more on his plate than he needs to have :)
-
I totally agree with everyone's sentiment... this thing just sucks! ... oh wait.. wrong forum :D THE MIG-21 IS REALLY OUTSTANDING! The lovely surprise I saw in the video is shake of the front pitot tube :bounce: RESPECT FOR EVERYONE THAT WORKED ON THIS AIRCRAFT... THE LEGEND WILL KEEP FLYING :joystick:

I can think of another example where it would be beneficial to make enemy think you have fired at him... and this is when you have numbers advantage and have multiple groups approaching from different directions... you might want to have one group getting the STT lock and bait... while secondary is approaching with real missile inbound or about to be fired. And as Weta already said, sometimes all you want is enemy to go defensive and abort.
-
Which today was that... today's today or yesterday's today? Today is still here another 2,5h :) They need to start quoting what time zone they talk about!
-
It's not that STT lock won't give any warning... it will... but actual missile launch doesn't give a warning that missile is launched... so (from what I've heard from real pilot) is that once you are spiked (STT lock on you) you go evasive as this is considered that missile is/could be fired at you... the way I understood it is that there is no differential warning from STT lock and missile fired.

GG, IASGATG, sorry guys but I realise I made an error in my principle, I see now that given all conditions are equal (speed, altitude etc) for both 120 and ER, the 120 will decelerate a tad slower (as it has little advantage in highe ratio of drag vs ratio of inertia - the 2 forces working against each other) so, taking into account the ER accelerates faster and is faster missile, especially if at higher altitude (where drag has less influence to slow the missile down) but decelerates bit faster, either missile could be longer ranged or equal, but as 120 is lighter I would say at terminal stage the 120 is possibly more manouverbale... but then again the ER has larger fins... so bloody hell... too many factors :(
-
It depends on ratio of differences in those mass and drag coeff. If they are both equal... they will decelerate the same, but if one is higher than the other then they won't. And in space drag is 0 zero, so regardless of mass or shape they will not decelerate at all... Inertia will not be lost and both missiles will just keep going (like space travel where engines are only used to change trajectory or velocity)
-
Why strange? If chaff cloud is right between plane and radar that's all the radar waves will bounce off... The chaff.
-
Still missing my point, Lower Cd doesn't guarantee slower deceleration... If missile mass is higher the inertia wants it's to keep going... And if there is more mass and inertia to overcome more drag then heavier missile even with higher drag will decelerate slower. And there is also to consider that R-27er is faster missile, higher top speed, so as it starts decelerating even if it decelerates faster, it's already further out then 120. I don't know what drag coefficients for both missiles are though... I doubt the 120 has 1/2 the drag coeff of ER... But I could be wrong as I don't know this
-
I am not ignoring drag, never said anything like that They are the same thing, you can refer to momentum when object has some velocity, while inertia can be used regardless of objects velocity. Now, this is why I think my physics tells me R-27ER should out-range the AIM-120C (slightly) R-27ER mass 350Kg dia 265mm fuel mass 140Kg missile mass when fuel has burned out 210Kg AIM-120C mass 152Kg dia 178mm fuel mass 51Kg missile mass when fuel has burned out 101Kg Taking for both missiles/bodies approximately same drag coefficient for missile head shape, same velocity once fuel burned out, same altitude, air density etc What works in AIM-120V favor: smaller diameter What works in R-27ER favor: more mass AIM-120C frontal surface area is around 0.025m² R-27ER frontal surface area is around 0.056m² so ratio of surface area in AIM-120C favor is 2.24 This lesser surface area will induce less drag force by that factor (I am neglecting aerodynamic difference, where surely there are some but not that much) The mass works in R-27ER favor as creates more inertia (force opposing drag) by factor of 2.079 If drag coefficient is 1 for both missile shapes then AIM-120C would decelerate slower, because drag coeff of 1 makes less drag force vs more inertia force higher (I'm not sure if I word this properly), but if for example drag coefficient is less than 1 (say 0.8 ) then you need to reduce the ratio of 2.24 in favour of AIM-120C to 0.8% which is 1.792 so it comes down to Force due to Inertia vs Force due to Drag (here mass, and drag play only role as everything else is constant, in same firing conditions) More mass says Inertia will want the missile to keep its velocity better, while less drag wants also the missile to keep its velocity better, but as mass ratio working in R-27ER favor is higher than less drag ratio working in AIM-120C favor, with drag coefficient less than 0.9 for each, the R-27ER should decelerate closer, hence have more range.

In space no matter the mass of an object, they all keep their velocity the same. In air, object with more inertia keeps their velocity better, which is why Train is much harder to stop than a light weight car even if it has more drag... even a large SUV which has lot more drag than sports car, is again much harder to stop. Inertia = tendency of a body to keep its velocity and direction
-
R-27R has double the mass of AMRAAM? And ER is even biger than R version? what is the ratio of drag coeff for the 2? PS: if in space the ER would be faster also :)
-
I am pretty sure heavier missile (R-27ER vs AMRAAM) will maintain speed better due to higher inertia.
-
me too :joystick:

let me guess... they all go for chaff?
