What makes the Apache the most difficult helicopter module to fly?
Lange_666 replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
How does putting a Virpil stick on a Warthog base make it less stiff? It's the Warthog gimbal design that makes the setup stiff. Best way is to do it the other way around, Virpil base with the Warthog stick on it and you get a super smooth experience. -
Because everybody will be reporting about the same version instead of possible multiple other older versions hanging around which could cause questions about things that are already solved. The "other sims" don't have the option to skip a version, multiplayer or not, so either you are at the latest version or you don't play. It keeps things tidy. The only drawback is that if there is a major bug introduced, there is no way to revert.

@4romeodelta: do you run DCS in MT in VR with OpenXR and with Turbo Mode turned on? Could cause a crash in DCS MT when the headset is taken off/or inside out tracking is lost. When it happens then the only way out is through Task Manager

Just wondering if the single DCS releases (future OB and stable unified versions) will be mandatory updates. Other sims are all mandatory these days.
-
Yes it does. Also, modern glasses can have all sorts of filters these days (at a cost off course).

Warthog Hotas firmware update problems etc…..
Lange_666 replied to usafphantom2's topic in Thrustmaster
If you can't get it working, you can contact TM support. In general they respond quite quickly. -
To be found under: Virus & threat protection --> Virus & threat protection settings --> Manage settings --> Exclusions Just set the entire ED folder as exclusion.
-
You need to copy that input folder "from" the DCS.openbeta.BAK folder into the newly created DCS.openbeta folder (created by DCS when you ran DCS after renaming it to DCS.openbeta.BAK). The reason for copying only the Input folder is to have all your controllers back on how they were set up in your original DCS.openbeta. That way, you can test with your old inputs already configured. Now that this is done, run DCS again. It will run with a new, fresh default configuration besides the Inputs. This will rule out or point out if your problem sits inside the old SavedGames\DCS.openbeta folder.

I don't use Grmelin so i don't know. Didn't you try the 120DX hack for Target Script i sended over via PM?
-
Drop McAfee, just use Windows Defender, set exclusions for what you want and don't look back.
-
I still do for VR, to run it smooth i need to activate Turbo mode through the OpenXR Toolkit when in MT but this creates a little but visible lag when turning my head quickly. I don't have that in ST.
-
That's not entirely true. You can't run ST and MT versions of the game from the same single shortcut. It doesn't give you the option to do so. Same goes for VR and non VR mode. You don't have the option to set either VR or 2D when running by the means of the installed shortcut. If the game was previously ran and closed in VR mode and you want it to run in 2D, with only one shortcut you need to start the game which will launch in VR. You then need to unselect VR and by confirmation, the game will close and re-open in 2D. You can overcome these "smaller" problems by using multiple shortcuts.

Update: Target Script Editor and Windows 11 Pro
Lange_666 replied to Lange_666's topic in Thrustmaster
Got a preliminary last reply from TM: We inform you that, as TARGET is currently not fully supported by Windows 11, our options to assist you regarding this local issue are limited. Indeed, as it is not fully supported, some specific local issue can happen. We are working on a new update, and invite you to wait until it releases. We currently have no information to provide about when the next update will be available. -
I'll PM you the file...
-
What about using the 120DX button hack for Target? It gives you 120 DX numbers to assign instead of the normal 32.
-
It works with Joystick Gremlin. Why it doesn't work with Target i don't know because the output it generates is correct and works in DCS but DCS doesn't see the actual Target key-press in the controllers section when a modifier is also in use. But in game it's recognized fine so why...? No clue actually.

Regarding OTT i never had that locking up or getting corrupted. Not once. Something must be off on your side, installation wise. Also, everybody his own thing off course but Force IPD Distance set to "30"? Did you ever notice that it's only the cockpit that gets twice as big "and" that the outside world does not?

I have 2 issues with Windows 11 and Target Script Editor: Bit of history first: Windows 10 Pro and Target Script Editor: - When opening Target Script Editor the edge of edit window sits on the left, close to the file window. This is like it should be. - Stopping a script takes max 1 second. Now Windows 11 Pro: I first updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and Target Script Editor behaved a bit different. - When opening Target Script Editor the edge of edit window sits on the right and is small making the file window very big. I can drag the edit window over to the left but after closing and re-opening Target Script Editor, the edit window sits back on the right and i have to drag it again to the left. - Stopping a script takes between 5 and 10 seconds. Because i had a few other minor issues with the updated Windows 11 (from within Windows 10) i reversed back to Windows 10 and all was good again. Target Script Editor worked fine, edit window to the left and a small file window + stopping a script would take again no more then 1 second. Earlier this month i decided to install Windows 11 again but this time a complete fresh install, not an update from Windows 10 and on a freshly formatted drive. However, after installing Target on this fresh Windows 11 Pro it behaves just the same as it did after the upgrade from Windows 10 Pro so the edit window sits back on the right which i can drag over to the left but after closing it sits back on the right and stopping a script takes again between 5 to 10 seconds. The last couple of days i'm going back and forth with TM support about these issues but despite offering a few possible solutions, none of them solved either of the problems. I tried 3 versions of the Target software, all behave exactly the same under Windows 11. According to TM support this shouldn't happen. Just wondering if anybody else with Windows 11 is seeing the same as i do. Below is screenshot on how Target opens in Windows 11.

Setting the profile you want to exclusive makes sure that the TrackIR software does not load a profile depending on a pre-loaded profile which the software selects from it's own game list.

Wired with VD should also work, no need to go SA for this. When i had my Pico, SA just didn't cut it. Worse image quality and ASW not working at all.

VR settings (ASUS ROG Strix G10, RTX 3060, Quest 2)
Lange_666 replied to sBinnala64's topic in DCS 2.9
You better ask this question over in the VR section of the forum: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/302-virtual-reality/ -
Or you can use Skatezilla's Updater/Launcher app and get rid of those shortcuts and start everything (and a lot more) from within one app. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/134493-the-dcs-updater-launcher-gui-utility-version-20-2023/

In the VR settings in DCS there is an option to confine the mouse cursor to stay within the DCS window on your screen. This has pro's and con's: - Mouse stays within DCS, that way you don't loose the mouse cursor in VR when it moves out of the DCS VR mirror window on your screen. But as long as DCS is active you can't move the mouse out of that window, even if you want too (used to work fine, don't know about now because i have this option un-ticked). However, if you use a second monitor and want to look something up this option can be frustrating because you can't move the mouse out of DCS. - Mouse can move out of the DCS VR mirror window and with the headset on, it can be frustrating to get your cursor back into the window for you to use it when needed. You can prevent this by keeping the resolution of the mirror window the same as the resolution of your monitor + DCS will give a message in your headset that the DCS window is out of focus if you move it to your second monitor or if you move it out of a smaller DCS window.

VD works with cable too.
