And some people even ask why we would like a A-10 sim! This aircraft is an amazing mix of an old, very forgiving airframe, with top notch avionics. I also had an emergency situation with fuel before, and not knowing what to do, did what seemed right at the moment, like you did. In my case, the aircraft also responded nicely. Wow, sometimes it seems we are not talking about a sim, but the real thing...

Question about HUD mode vs Weapon Profile/Delivery Mode
RodBorza replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It is just another example how there are multiple ways of accomplishing the same thing on the A-10 C. -
Just some pictures of me testing my new 9800 GT. I know, I know, it is not a top of the line video card, but the game looks beautifull regardless. Congrats to ED team for making the sim reallistic and yet, relatively light to run. This is what happens if you mess with skin textures. BUFF Nice little details I love in this game. They didn't need to model the aircraft crew. If they put some opaque windows people would like it anyway. But this is the kind of thing that sets the DCS universe apart. Smile, you are on candid camera! Smile, you are being filmed.

Yesterday I was messing around with the CDU, trying to figure out its various modes of operations. And while I was head down in the cockpit, I overflew a AAA and got hit. No problem, no major damage, kept dealing with the CDU. After some minutes of flying, the Master Caution alarm goes off and lights u. Then I check the Caution Panel: "L-R TKS UNEQUAL". Then, I look at the fuel gauge and the left says "1000 pounds" and the right indicator "3000 pounds. So, what to do? I don't know if it is the right procedure or not, but at the time not knowing exactly what to do, I went to the fuel control panel and set "Crossfeed" and "TK Gate Open". After a few seconds, the fuel gaude read "2000 pounds" for each tank, the aircraft leveled and all was well again. What a sim: this attention to detail is amazing!

Yes, they are. In the Options, on the gameplay tab, you'll see an option for birds. It is a slider that sets how much bird presence in the game you would allow.

DCS-A10c - Sam Alley (TacView + Gameplay Footage Combined)

Gotta agree. Nice job! -
As soon as I finished writing this post it hit me: I forgot to update the sound drivers when I moved from Win 7 32 bit to the 64 bit version. Now it is working correctly. NOTE: Will leave thread on forum, so if someone else has the same problem then can try this solution.

At the River Raider mission, all is well and nice then suddenly there is no sound. I've noticed that at the start of the mission when the wingman is relating the targets he is seeing; or several minutes later when I'm on the attack run for Bunker nº 2. I've already installed the recommended DirectX files as per the sticky, but the problem persists. My system specs: 1- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit 2- Intel celeron E3300 @ 2,5 Ghz 3- 4 Mb DDR2 /800 Mhz RAM 4- ZOGIS 9800 GT (NVidia) - Driver: 8.17.12.7533 5- Single monitor use. 6- DirectX version: DirectX 11

Hello all, Sorry if it has been already asked; if so, please lead me to the related forum. At the River Raider mission when I mark a bunker as my SPI, I broadcast it and them tell my wingman to attack it (Wingman>Engage with...>Guided bob>Default). He says "copy", but then starts to orbit and doesn't attack the bunker. The manual says that wingmen will attack "targets of opportunity", and as I see it, they will only attack vehicles, but no buildings or bridges. Is this correct? Thx!

Well, hijacking your thread a little bit, but I just want to share too. I've known this sim since Beta 3, but today I got to buy amore RAM memory for my computer, also a new 9800 GT video card. I know it is not a top of line card, but man, now I can (almost) fully understand how this sim is amazing! The details, the terrain, the sun...and of course, the cockpit shadows! All in 40-60 fps glory (20-30 with mirrors on). Next on the priority list: Track IR 5! Amazing!

Not activared? So it means that the explosives are still intact in the mines? Anyway, now I have a good excuse for blown tires on my bad landings. :megalol:

Clever and... ...clever! Well, thank you all for the answers. I think they may be correct. I was watching a Wings documentary on the Soviet Union (good old times of the Discovery Channel) and it showed how soviet air doctrine was very different from that of NATO. And showed how the Russians had to deal with an enormous air space to defend and few resources. That may explain why their airfields have this peculiar configuration.

Just out of curiosity: Why does some of the Georgian/Russian runways have these concrete tiled pattern. Look at the screenshots below. It gives me the impression that the runway is made of lots of small blocks of concrete, not a single concrete/tarmac layer like we see in western airfields. Why is that? My guess is to allow the expansion/contraction cycle for the winter and defrost seasons. Also, keeping up with the "robust but cheap" construction policy of the old soviet army.

Oh yes, and expect a lot of CDU questions...

Anyway, it is not a sight one sees everyday.

Nice detail on the shark (Finding Nemo). I wonder, Nemo = tanks???

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

And the machine gunner has the audacity of shooting back. Only in the sim...hehehe...

true! And gharness84, congrats man! This sim is amazing.

I believe the laser to be the tripwire, a very clever one. Logic: Heat + "tripwire" = KA-BOOM!!!

Leaving the CBU conversation aside, a good way to clear convoys is to hit the front tank/truck with Mavericks and when the chaos ensues, drop the CBUs. But it has to be done fairly quickly, firing a MAV, and coming around for a CBU pass, because in the sim the enemy regroup after a while and keeps moving if you are too slow.

To create an SPI with any of the sensors (HUD, TAD or TGP), they must be the current SOI at the moment. So, to create an SPI in the TAD, you'll have to: 1) Coolie Hat Left Long - chooses the TAD on the left MFCD as SOI; 2) Slew to the desired target; 3) TMS Up Short to hook; 4) TMS Up Long to create SPI.
