  2. On ripple pairs, it means number of PAIRS you are going to drop. On ripple single, it means the number of bombs individually dropped.
  3. Yep. This mission is bugged. I tried and tried and didn't solve it. Had to deal with it through the Mission Editor. For some reason the F-16s don't assign the targets. If you replace it with a Predator drone, it will work. However, the Predator must be VERY close (2 nm) and VERY low (less than 5,000 ft) to pick up the target and send it to you. Or...you can put a helicopter or a HMMWV (in invisible mode, so the enemies won't see it) and it will task the targets. But they must be very close. Yeah, I know...it sucks...

  5. It is a simple attack with Vikhrs on a M-109 howitzer, from the Instant Action mission. No fancy moves, no fancy stuff.Just a quick video that I made to show to my friends why I love this so much. I'm loving to fly the "Toad". Even forgot about the A-10 (an heresy, I know...:music_whistling:) But, it also works as a reminder: Nobody invades Mother Russia and gets away with it! :D

  8. DCS: Time Machine is the best module ever! The problem is that in its current beta version, it takes up 27 kilometres beneath the Franco-Swiss border, near Geneva.
  9. One way to do it is once a target is locked, align and fire the missile. The Laser will be fired automatically. No need for one more step, i.e., firing the laser prior to firing the missile. (Edit: Yes, the Skhval system does that. But it is better, for launching at long distances, to manually lase the taget before releasing). Also, be sure to be aligned. One way to see this is to send your wingman to attack a target. See how he does it. He aligns, fires, and stays on the target while the missile goes all the way to the target. It is very intense, and very dangereous. Vikhir have a smaller range than Mavericks, and you do have to stay on target all the way until they hit. And your speed goes up while doing that. It takes practice to extend, align, trim, align again, open airbrakes, fire, guide the missile to target, hit the target, extend again. Bu once you it is very nice. Even better with the new explosions. Edit: reviewing the posts and re-doing the missions, I notived that the laser must be activated before the Vikhrs are launched. See below: A track is attached. Maybe it help you out. The mission is the Instant Action Ground Attack mission. Love to fly this plane! :D The way I do it: - I have Sensors, Weapons, I-25 Slew, and two Autopilots modes (Attitude Hold and Transition to Level Flight) mapped to my Hotas. - I switch back and forth between Nav and Ground modes, in order to know how far I'm from the target. I usually extend 18-20 km (more or less 10 nautical miles). - When aligning back to target, I keep an eye on the Vertical Velocity Indicator. I try to keep it as level as I can, then engage the Attitude Hold. After that, I engage the Transition to Level Flight mode. This way I can control the aircraft before disenganging autopilot without the SU-25 going crazy on me; - Find the target, lock the target; - Just before getting into weapon range, I turn on the laser, disengage the autopilot, open airbrakes, reduce throttle to 80% and then start the dive. I try to keep the aircraft aligned so the small circle is inside the big circle. I do not recommend using any autopilot mode here, because you must make small corrections to keep the target aligned in the sensors; - When I get the LA (Launch Autorized) I press and HOLD the fire button, until the Vikhr is on the way; - Then I try to keep the circles aligned the best I can. This is when reduced power and airbrakes come in handy. They allow a better control and give you a greater stand-off distance from the target; - Starting the run from 1,500 meters and using this tactics, I've been able to have a stand-off distance AFTER hitting the targets of about 5 km. I really hope this helps. This is certainly not the only way to do it, nor the best way, but it has being working for me. It is very important to have the most important functions mapped to a HOTAS, because things happen very quickly in a Su-25 attack run. Vikhr deployment.trk

  12. Just as a note to let it to be registered, in case anyone else has the same problem. I changed my pitch axis settings to the following: - Curvature = 0; - Y saturation to 80. I found out that Y saturation is more important than curvature for controller response. Changing the curvature only makes it worse, because makes the control to respond in a exponential manner. And that's what you don't want when you are stalling the aircraft with only a small input in pitch. By keeping the curvature linear and bringing the Y saturation to a lower value, it does helps countering the saturation. The same kind of adjustment on the Y axis helped adjusting slew speed for the sensors on the A-10 and Su-27.
  13. Assuming that what you said to be true as an average, yes the distances are reasonable. In real life, seeing many pilots telling their histories, they could see an aicraft 5 miles out (about ten 10 km). Of course, many of them saw their enemies at a much lower distances ( sometimes, right on top of them) in bad weather. No problem using the zoom. It is a feature that helps compesante for the lack of resolution we don't have by sitting behind a monitor. The problem is not being able to see not even a black spot against the blue sky or the ground. I say sun glare would help. As many encounters that happened in real life, the pilots could see their enemies by the reflecting sun on the enemy planes. That's for a first time contact. Other way around it is to make the contrast between the airplanes at distance and the sky a little bit higher. In DCS as general, the aircrafts get mixed with the mist that happens at long distances and then you can't see nothing. All in all, what I want to say is that with good weather, blue sky one should be able to see an aircfat against the backdrop. Take the interception mission for the P-51D for example. Very difficult to tell where the transport plane is because it gets confused with the mist in the background. Ther's no sun glare reflecting from the wings. And it is a clear sky with good weather. Of course, in a cloudy day or bad weather, degradation happens and should be expected.
  14. Hmmm...nice. It's a beta, so they have plenty of room for improvement. And about the Toad, I see that you must extend much farther away from the target. something like 20 km. And from that distance you can't see much from the Shkval as the way it is. I didn't play FC 2.0, so I don't know how it was done on that sim. It is difficult to tell if it a truck or an artillery piece unless you are very. veruy close (10 km or less). Maybe it is my screen resolution that is low (1380 x768), but in the A-10 you can see the individual soldiers in the ground from the same distance. Let's hope they improve this. As I'm leraning so farm from ED, you got have a lot of patience until they get things right. But they will get everthing right eventually.
  15. Peter P, I tried your mission, but still no joy. I have a low resolution monitor, which gives 1368X768. I changed the MSAA to 4x and it helped a lot to see ground targets and to identify where the wingman is. However, to identify other planes over 2 nm, it is not working. Testes it on P-51D and on the A-10C. Maybe I'll need a bigger screen.

  17. Ok, thanks. Another question: Does the system has a zoom feature, like the TGP? Sometimes, I have to get too close (for comfort) before identifying and getting a lock on a target. In the FC 2.0 videos it says that the Shval has three zooms. So far, I only get two: Wide Field of View to Narrow Field of View.
  18. Hello all, It is my first contact with the Su-25T. I'm having a blast to fly this little plane. However, I have to get familiarized with its systems. I've watched all the training systems for Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and they have helped me a lot. But a question remains: does the Shval have some kind of memory to the last target you attacked? I mean, on the A-10, the TGP pod is fixed to where you last attacked. So, when you extend and get back to attack again, the pod is pointing at the right direction. With the Toad, I find myself having to manually track the Shval back and again to find the targets. Is there a way to make it easier for a re-attack?
  19. I agree. I'm loving to fly the Toad. I fell a litle guity to say that I'm loving it a little bit more than the A-10. The Toad has not the same advanced systems as the A-10. But it is more maneuverable. And it can do SEAD. A-10 can't. 'Nough said.:D
  20. Ops! Attached again. I asked the same question on the Input and Outout forum, and Nate, one of the ED testers sai I'm stalling the aircraft. Looking back at it, I believe I'm doing that. Suddenly I feel very dumb. :doh: Anyway, does anyone have the settings for the axis that works without making controls (mainly pitch) not too sensitive.

  22. Nate, No, it doesn't. Pushing all the way forward on the stick doesn't make the control stuck. I'm even being able to make some "forward loopings", no problems. The problem shows up when I push the stick back all the way. The aircraft start to climb, then suddenly stops, and rolls. It happens on all three DCS modules: the P51D, A-10 and Su-27T. I tested my controls on Microsoft Filght and they are working perfectly. My setup is this: - Win 7 Service Pack 1, 64 -bit. - A CH pedal, gameport, using a USB adapter to use it on Win 7. Tried to play the game with it uninstalled, but the problems persists; - A Trust Predator 4-axis, 12-button USB joystick. It is a generic joystick, but has been working well, and I don't have this problem on other games; - A CH Pro Throttle USB. This is new, got it two days ago. The problems started before I installed this new controller.
  23. Hello all, I am having a problem when pitching up aircraft. I tried this on the A-10, P-51D and Su-27 modules, and the problem seems to be the same: if I pull-up gently on the stick, the aircraft will start to climb, no problem. They will start to climb, but not enough to make a looping. If I am on flight level and try to pull all the way up on the stick, the aircraft start to pitch up to a certain point, afterwards, the climb is locked, and a rolling movement is induced, and I lose control entirley. And it is very dificult to get back to level flight, since the pitch up movement locks and the induced roll happens again and again. I've never had this problem before, I started to notice it ater installing DCS World 1.2.2.0. I uninstalled it and installed the new patch (1.2.2.1), but the problem persists. What is really bothering me is that it is happening with the A-10 as well. Both of the times, when installing DCS World, I tried to install the P-51D Mustang first. Maybe that caused something that messed up the .lua files somewhere. Or it is user/pilot induced error, I don't know. I've tried to change joystick, reinstalling, commanding the aircraft solely by keyboard, re-calibrating on Windows, setting FF to zero and changing the axis curvature to no avail. The problem persists. Attached are two tracks that show what happens. When I try full cursor to pitch up, the problem appears. I try both with the joystick and keyboard. Any help is welcome, because I really don't know what more to do.:joystick:

  25. Im a CH fan. They are not that expensive and they are durable. Also, if you can, get yourself a Track IR. It is a must have.
