Here's ver 2...I haven't heard anything from this guy.. it's good... I like making skins just for the hell of it! :D
-
Okay here's what I came up with last night...For some reason I had to make the skins for spain before they would all show up...and the pylons texture still doesn't show up...as it's shared with all the countries I'm sure this will conflict with other teams also flying the F-18A, so I guess you'd have to work that out... Am I headed in the right direction??
-
Arigato TekaTeka! SUPERsonik...do you guys have a name or logo you want on the skin?
-
Well, I was going to have a go and make one, but for some reason GIMP won't open the .psd files of the F-18 template at lockonfiles...maybe they're not RGB? If you can find a template I can use, I'd be happy to make a skin for your consideration.

Leave tekateka alone....he's trying to work his magic on LOBS! :D
-
Well from what I've seen so far it looks like you've done a great job with what you CAN mod. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
-
What I was thinking...is there any way to make it look like the fuselage comes forward like the real Mirage? like this (but done properly:))?
-
hmmm I was thinking, the Mirage has poor rearward visibility. Even worse than the MiG-29. Is there any way to mod the aft part of the in-cockpit view and obscure it to approximate the way it looks in the mirage with the fuselage right behind the ejection seat? Like if you turn your head all the way around you don't see clear canopy behind your seat, but fuselage?

Magnificent! I hope when ED drop the FC engine, they will open it up so we can truly add new A/C to the game with their own FMs, cockpits refueling capability etc...we surely have the talent in the mod community!

F-15 Aim 120 Lob shot does not work?
Colt40Five replied to cool_t's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You can't apply real world tactics to in-game missile performance. At least not as currently modeled.... -
Any chance you can post a screenshot of the modded instrument panel HubMan?
-
The MANPAD has definitely changed the game. I've read a lot about the Vietnam air war, and it was routine to fly well below 10k ft for all aircraft types. This would be suicide today.
-
Why post this here? Should ED cross post their forum rules on your forums?? Wipe off your nose...
-
You don't have to control the air all the time, just at certain periods over the areas you operate in... you send the a-10s in with ECM aircraft(for protection from ADS) and fighter support(protection from A-A threat)...not all by themselves! In a real WWIII scenario the only thing flying will be the debris from thousands of nuclear detonations.
-
Well duh! we're talking about the best CAS aircraft...so of course it has to operate in a suitable environment with ECM/fighter protection...no one has said it's the best ALL AROUND aircraft...that's just dumb.

Excellent!

I'm not saying they hit everything in the country. The Serbs were cunning opponents. Very good at using the terrain, hiding their forces, creating decoys etc...But they fact that they had to hide, restrict their movements, make decoys etc was because if they didn't, they would get hit. That limited their ability to fight almost as much as getting outright destroyed. That is also proof of how effective the A-10 was.

Read "[/url]A-10s Over Kosovo: The Victory of Airpower Over a Fielded Army as Told by Those Airmen Who Fought in Operation Allied Force "...and then tell me they don't get the job done in European terrain! http://www.amazon.com/10s-Over-Kosovo-Airpower-Operation/dp/1585661228/ref=sr_1_1/102-4655755-2825748?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185942958&sr=1-1

I never understood why the French are so tight with info on their older planes. We need a REAL sim featuring Mirages, Jaguar....and while I'm dreaming the beautiful Rafale(I know we will never see a Rafale sim...but I can dream). I've watched the vids a few times now...it's wrong to show it before release...makes me want to try it out now! One more question will you release a skin template with this mod? I want to make the black skin from the demo bird shown in Les Chevaliers du Ciel. And soon there will finally be a diecast 1:72 Mirage 2000 released... http://www.flyingmule.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?CAT_TYP=CAT_TYP_JET_FTR_MIRAGE2000&CAT_OPR=&CAT_RNG=&CAT_SCL=CAT_SCL_72&CAT_DPT=&CAT_USR=&x=46&y=15&Store_Code=AV&Screen=SRCH&Search=CAT_TYP_JET_FTR_MIRAGE2000+CAT_SCL_72 Better pics of the models... http://www.themodelhangar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7193

Well best of luck to you, I can't wait to try it out!

Wow this looks really cool! Any plans on adding a Jaguar???

I am all for ED getting on with a "2nd generation" (my term) architecture and giving us a whole new ballgame. The way I see it, the whole combat sim genre is teetering on the edge of an era. For years it's been F4 or Lockon if you were serious into modern-ish fast jets. They have both been modded to the gills (F4 more obviously due to the source leak) and have reached their limitations. Supposedly LP is working on a "2nd gen" sim, but no word...nothing...nada, and they didn't even create F4. With ED however, we are at least getting sent out with the big bang of what appears to be awesome content to carry us for a long while to come. We already enjoy a product they made, we know they have outside business too, so IMHO we have every reason (short of the planet's destruction or other unforeseen events... alien invasion and what have you) to expect they will stay in business and we will get something else we will enjoy. all you have to do is live that long and hope they don't go into strictly governmental work. :D Or you can wait for the "duke nuke 'em" of combat sims: Fighter Ops! Also don't forget Jet Thunder is on the horizon as well! Face it it's a niche genre. We won't get even a title a year. So do your best to stay alive, and hope for the best.

A-10 Campaign: Crimean Countenance
Colt40Five replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in User Created Missions General
I've had the chance to play through the first 2 missions...I hope you're interested in some constructive criticism...you seem to fall into the trap that a lot of mission designers do, and that is putting way too many units in the mission that have no impact on the mission itself. Units that you never see, and that don't have any interaction with how the mission plays out. For instance the CAPs in both the first 2 missions never interact with the player or each other. All the static units at the player's airbase I understand, but why have other static units (on both sides) that you never see? And all the ground forces on both sides (which you also never see unless you have labels on) aren't even fighting each other, they're just sucking up CPU cycles. In the second mission I edited it to remove everything that didn't affect the mission. The number of units went from 10 pages to 2. When I'm making missions the first thing I ask myself before adding a unit is: "How does this unit impact the player's experience?" Do I even see it? Is it a threat that makes me respond? Just something to think about. Thank you for taking the time to make these missions. The LO community needs all the contributors it can get! -
Black Shark Update, 16 September 2007
Colt40Five replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I can't speak for anyone else, but I've more than gotten my money's worth out of FC. I'd prefer for LOBS to include everything from all previous versions to make installation easier (like IL2 1946).
