Perfect. Thanks

Is this something you measured?

Hi guys I am on a data limited connection and need to have an idea of how big the DCSW download size is so I can buy enough extra in order to download it. Any devs here who can comment? Thanks JB

I had fun with original Betty Kim Crow herself trying to replicate the "IFF" callout for another F-16 sim. There were a good many laughs at how extreme it was for her vocal range.

The F-18's UFC is vastly more intuitive than the F-16's DED, and the MFDs are also pretty easy to handle, although as CW Lemoine pointed out, you have to take your hands of the HOTAS a lot more often in the F-18. MacD nailed it in the bug and strike eagle.

The yellow bars on the ADI are not the deviation indicators, but the flight directors. Ie they help guide you on to the glideslope/loc, but don't indicate the glideslope/loc itself. The ADI only has a glideslope indicator, that small scale with the white arrow on the left. The HSI provides the loc deviation, and both loc/gs are present on the HUD.

This...I actually feared BMP-2s and BMP-3s more than Shilkas in the A-10. I could sneak up on a Shilka and dodge its fire more easily than a BMP-2. And when I did get hit, I took way less damage. The BMP-2s however, never missed when they opened fire, and I usually took way more damage.

The SR-71 does have a VHF radio though. I don’t know about the F-18.

FWIW, I have sometimes attacked ships near to the shore with tanks in CA and I found that if you snuck up and aimed right with your missiles, you could take out specific parts of the ship, like main guns, which would allow me to get into open view of the ship and sink it without fear of being obliterated. If a couple of HARMs could be lobbed at the ship to take out the radar, you might be able to get a little closer with mavs, or a high altitude bomb drop, and hit the missile batteries. Once the ship defences are down, you can pretty much do what you want.

Found this. Not exactly cheap at $175 but I think it should fit nicely into a Cougar MFD. http://store.apollodisplays.com/store/ProductDetail/MB-01-031_Aa050aa11640x6401200-Nit

He is still alive. I checked up on him. He just had to take up some work to replenish his budget. Also doing some of the other necessary things to make such a company that aren't really things one posts about.

Private conversations are just that. Private. Those who look for hooks on which to hang their doubts will find them. Those who look at evidence however will see no reason to doubt and cavil. For those who have been trashing him, trashing someone can always turn out to be an embarrassment when they suddenly prove you wrong and you have to eat your words. It is embarrassing because you end up saying a lot more about yourself than you intended, than what you said about him.

I am not going to say much more except that I do have more direct contact with him and he is anything but idle. He doesn't say much elsewhere these days because he will have the last laugh.

Hegy is around if you check his recent activity (ie when he was last online).

Open Source Joystick FFB / DIY FFB Joystick

A thought that just occurred to me is that these magnetic solutions to force feedback will run into issues with hall sensors and such. We need to find a way to isolate the magnetic fields so that they don't interfere with position sensors. -
The email was actually directed at hegykc :)

Yes this can work. I have run into a similar problem at times in gauge programming for FSX where the GDI+ Clear call is very slow. Drawing a black rectangle is a more acceptable method. That said, I have some low level programming knowledge of manipulating pixels if you like. I sent you an email.

He did post some pictures of his P-51 parts here as well. Actual pictures of the actual part in reality, not renders: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=170737

He did post pictures just above your post. :) Those weren't renders (granted they weren't the grips) but given that that box is a real piece of equipment in his possession now, it certainly doesn't look like vapourware.

I'll add one comment here as a behind the scenes contributor to hegykc's work. What he is doing is like a dream come true to those who are serious simmers, but caught in the middle between those who can afford things like TIR5 and those who fly with keyboard and mouse. VR is even more out of the question to us. And there are more of us than you know. I am reminded of the analogy of viewing a ball game through a knothole in a fence. Although I think pinhole is more appropriate considering how narrow some of the views here are. Not casting doubt on intelligence. Rather just giving an insight to clear up ignorance that there is no shame in having because you have never really been exposed to the knowledge that can clear it. Furthermore, I am pretty sure small flight schools would love to have this kind of equipment, which has normally been the realm of only the big league schools.

Not really. Check their store prices for existing displays: https://www.usmicroproducts.com/store The only catch is not outside US/Canada/Mexico.

Any one checked these guys out? https://www.usmicroproducts.com/displays/custom-display-solutions

Actually, while T-72s are dangerous, I fear BMPs way more. What does help though is make your dive a lot steeper. I typically engage at a dive angle of 40+ deg from 10 000ft. That gives me a little time to line up and a little more accuracy from the gun since gravity assists. And it gives them less time to respond.
