  1. We'll wait, this patch was a surprise to everyone and the priority was Iraq I suppose. However, I hope that the next patch will appear in December with more hotfixes .
  2. It has (bought as whole Iraq but current part) 111Gb after installation.
  3. If you wanted to see everything to the horizon, your computer could explode ;). With every change comes greater efficiency, remember. Next year there will be RTX 5090, and the view range can always be modified manually (there are also mods for this), but I do not recommend it. Your PC will kneel. I don't know if you fly in other simulators, but it's the same in MSFS, for example, you also don't see all the objects, of course maybe with time other visibility ranges should be added in DCS options, but it's not the map's fault, but the general settings.
  4. Someone asked about the map size but directly in DCS. Here you go:
  5. And above all, Congratulations ED on its release! I honestly did not expect this today, in fact, there were some voices that the map would not appear in 2024, and here is such a surprise when I got back from work! Just wow! Now we have something to do and somewhere to fly. The textures in the desert look great, they are also quite diverse and it looks very realistic (MiG-21bis flight, of course in Iraqi repaint ).
  6. I was just about to write this. I didn't expect it to be in this Today's patch, because the main focus is on Iraq, and here's a surprise. I tested the UH-1 and OH-58 and the AI wingman stand and wait politely and obediently as mom ordered. So it looks like the problem is solved . I'll test 2 more of my missions, but for now everything looks fine. Thank you very much @Flappie and @f-18hornet for responding so quickly and making this a priority. I really appreciate it and hats off to you!
  7. I've already spent some time, of course not much so far but I can see progress in relation to Afghanistan and I think it's quite good. Of course you have to remember that photo textures will never look like those created by hand (e.g. Syria) unless the map, instead of 111G, had 1TB but it is better. What is important, and what I suspected it would be, is that they abandoned the "sticker" texture in favor of a "sticker" but not with sharp edges. Now we have smooth png transitions, which makes it seem more natural and less noticeable. This is a nice change and I suspect that these changes are what the current approach to the Afghanistan map is all about. In general, my first contact is positive and I certainly do not regret buying it. In general I am happy and I consider the change to be better, plus of course you have to take into account that the texture will not always be super resolution, it is a compromise to save space. But if you accept it, the map is for you. The map is also quite diverse, from flat desert areas to green mountainous with lots of hills. This gives it quite a wide range of uses for different missions. There currently seems to be no AI traffic, or at least I haven't noticed (EA, although Afghanistan had traffic from the beginning). Sometimes I would see FPS drops in densely built-up areas (alternatively, changing LOD to 50% returns max. FPS in VR, and that's the only way I fly).
  8. Of course you can use it keeping the same path, but remember that every DCS update will overwrite this file. Using JSGME is child's play ;), although it takes a moment to configure it, but then you can turn everything on, off with one click plus even make profiles:
  9. Here's another example, a map of the Caucasus. UH-1, weight of course below max. 100%. AI wingman starts take off (!) by itself, without the any player's action, and it doesn't take off vertically as well (despite checking this option in ME), but flies straight at me without seeing me. Finally it crashes into the leader of the flight (me). In this case there are no added static objects or other AI helicopters, which clearly shows that this is not a statics issue. The problem appeared on 10/30/2024 in this patch, and was not corrected in the last one. @f-18hornet has the problem been diagnosed yet and is there a chance it will be fixed in the next, December patch? The AI as a wingman has become useless in missions and campaigns, which is a pretty serious problem (when AI wingman is supposed to take off from the ground from hot or cold and dark start).test3.trktest3.miz
  10. It doesn't matter in this situation, because I tried to take it in a different situations with the same results, outside the airport and without the static object and it's still the same. Here in the video I put static objects (no helicopters) to show the additional problem that the AI wingman starting from the ground doesn't even see them. I hope it will be fixed in the nearest patch, wheelled helicopters look ok (apart new CH-47F) I suppose so if maybe the helicopter doesn't use the wheel brake instead of standing still it starts moving unconsciously.
  11. Maybe something else? No any issue for me, I tried few times different scenarios till now with the fog.
  12. Good to know (I didnt know and my file doesnt base on his file but Idea only, this is a known issue reported as a bug) however this file has changed since 2019 and there are other new entries there. For me important is to have file also JSGME/OvGME ready too.
  13. I think what we got is a misnomer "fog", which simplifies the situation. In fact, the correct name is "Haze" in this case. The new option gives a lot more possibilities than what is called fog in real life. It should be changed in the weather options, Haze fits here much better. Haze is an atmospheric phenomenon where dust, smoke, and dry particles in the air obscure the sky’s clarity and it perfect fits as the name for this great option for DCS.
  14. Under the hood it could be more problems, yes, but animation issue is visible as well.
  15. Pls as the next remaster of module like A-10C II, Ka-50 III and F-5E!
  16. Try it. From what I remember, the recommendation is about the fact that it spoiled the reception because there were two lenses so it just looked stupid. I don't use DFR from months.
  17. The title speaks for itself, and @BIGNEWY recently said that the goal is December: "we plan to finish pre-purchase late in Q4 2024" = means the release (preorder always ends on release day).
  18. Hi ED Team & @BIGNEWY Is there any chance to finally do it properly for VR users? This has been a problem for years and hasn't been fixed still. The latest update for DCS (with fog) generally improves lighting too, but a lot of people flying DCS in VR don't even know about it because they usually have the lens effect turned off because of the two lenses in the image in the goggles which looks terrible simply. The main problem is that other lighting options are also connected to this after the lens effect. I propose adding some option separating this - lighting effects and lens effect. Even in the VR tab. By currently turning off Lens Effect we lose a lot of cool effects. I also suggest giving the VR tab a turn/off option - a smaller bloom sun effect, which is currently too big. Thank you. Btw. I added a MOD for Lens: The simplest thing you can do is to set the "Lens effect" - on/off in the VR tab (but it only turns off the lens effect like in my mod, one line in the code), and in the General tab, name the Lens effect other like - "Lighting Effects".
  19. The new version of DCS (the one introducing the new type of fog) also improves the lighting a bit, while VR users usually fly with the Lens Effect option disabled, which additionally cuts out many lighting elements that add a nice immersion in DCS. Personally, I prefer to have the Lens Effect enabled but without the lens effect (which are displayed twice in VR). Here is a mod (JSGME ready) that cuts out the double lenses while preserving the other elements. Below are examples of how it looks in the default DCS (image captured from VR, you can clearly see the difference in lighting, not only of the sun but also of the sky, clouds, horizon effects and surroundings). Lens effects - off (default DCS VR) Lens effects - enabled Flare + Dirt (default DCS VR) The mod removes the double image of the lenses (only) while leaving the other effects. The mod was tested on the latest version of DCS (December 2024, v.2.9.10.3948) and in principle should not require updating with subsequent new versions (unless it is required). Personally, I would also like to have a slightly smaller sun effect (size of the bloom around the sun), but that's another topic. Credits go to @Clorydric who had an idea on how to fix this. So no more 2x lens in VR (no any lens): Btw. Of course, when updating DCS, the mod should be deactivated for the duration of the update and reactivated in JSGME. 20. It is, correct! Thank you PC and Echo19.
  21. The AN/ALQ-144 performs quite well and even when holding a course there is a 90% chance the missile will miss and go down, tested many times. Personally I like it a lot.
  22. There is also a problem with the difference in behavior between clicking the mouse (without a problem in the cockpit) and when we assign keyboard shortcuts or joystick presses here (marked by yellow). As you can see I added shortcuts here, I also have it on the joystick and it doesn't work as it should, sometimes it works well and after a while it doesn't work, or it works the other way around - after few presses. I also recommend assigning something here and checking how each of these 4 buttons works. Sorry for adding so much, but I generally have most of the things assigned on my panels, so I'm catching all these inconsistencies Thank you!
  23. Well, the difference is quite big here, but 106% should still be okay , flying KW is a constant dilemma between armament and fuel .
