DCS: La-7 - DEVELOPMENT NOTES The next note about the module development is devoted to the "heart" of the La-7 aircraft - the powerful air-cooled engine ASh-82FN. This 14-cylinder radial engine makes the La-7 an extremely dangerous opponent. The basis of this technically advanced engine was the American Wright Cyclone R-1820 engine, produced in the Soviet Union under license, which has undergone many improvements and modifications, including the M-62 engine of the I-16 fighter. Thanks to the ASh-82 engine the Lavochkin design bureau continued to exist (the bureau was on the verge of closing after the overweight LaGG-3 aircraft with a weak liquid-cooled engine was discontinued). It was the engine replacement that led to the implementation of a line of magnificent aircraft from La-5 to La-11. In one modification or another, this long-lived motor is still found to this day. Of course, the engine of the La-7 aircraft deserves the proper level of both mathematical and visual modeling. The depth of visual elaboration is clearly demonstrated in the screenshots. In the game, you can open the hood to look around the engine. In turn, the mathematical model provides high accuracy of reproduction of the motor throttle and altitude performance. The bright lines on the graphs mark the results of the calculation of our engine model in forsazh (WEP) and maximum power modes. It is worth noting that the forsazh mode is activated by setting the throttle to the FWD position at the first speed of the supercharger and automatically turns off when the supercharger is switched to the second speed, which allows you to safely and efficiently operate the engine. The use of forsazh mode due to the modernization of the cooling and lubrication system is not limited in time. And the direct injection system, in addition to increasing power, increases the stability of the engine during negative overloads. At the same time, it is needed to strictly observe the regimes in terms of RPM and boost to prevent motor damage. To control the engine and propeller, the following are provided: - throttle handle (1) - propeller control lever (2) - lever for combined control of a two-speed supercharger and forsazh (3) - oil cowl flaps control lever. (4) - controls for the cowl side flaps and frontal flaps (mounted on the cockpit right side). The throttle handle, as on the I-16 aircraft, has an extra stroke zone for air throttle direct control. The composition of the fuel mixture is automatically adjusted by the altitude governor. In skillful hands, the La-7 aircraft with the ASh-82FN engine becomes an extremely effective fighter. Bye Phant

Deka IronWork Development Report The development of the DCS: JF-17 Thunder is nearing completion. The Chinese flight manual will receive some updates soon, and the translation of the English manual is still in progress. In the meantime, completed cockpit textures will be avaialble in the next update. Pylon and adapters textures in the exterior model have also been updated. We plan to finish the exterior model including more skins and livery template and release them together with pylon texture by March 2023. In addition, we will continue to add and correct JF-17 features once we have new information. Bye Phant

Bye Phant

36. Q: Can the WSO shoot the gun? A: No. The trigger on the RCP stick is not only disabled but is actually molded into the stick and does not move? 37. Q: Can the WSO shoot missiles? A: No, all forward firing ordnance like A/A missiles, the gun, etc. can only be fired in the front seat. The only exception is the WSO can shoot Mavericks from the back. 38. Q: Can the WSO drop bombs? A: Yes, the pickle button in the back is fully “hot” for free-fall munitions and the AGM-65 Mavs. 39. Q: Can the WSO AAR (Air to Air Refuel): A: Technically yes. They are not trained to do so IRL, but some can and have 40. Q: Can a WSO land the jet? A: Technically Yes. See above. They are not trained pilots or allowed to land from the backseat by regulation but some have. Bye Phant

@The_Fragger @Zeus67 @Prowler111 @myHelljumper Brief historical summary July 2015: Polychop-Simulations officially obtains the Third Party license for the development of SA-342M Gazelle and BO-105 PAH1A1. April 2017: Polychop Simulations and The_Fragger announce that their development path separates: MilTech-5 is born and will independently develop the BO-105 PAH1A1. January 2020: MilTech-5 and RAZBAM announce an agreement to advance the development of the BO-105 PAH1A1. January 2023: In response to a comment on the official MilTech-5 FB page, The_Fragger replies "We are waiting for the coder -> last contact was June. He applied for a new job...since then -> no response". Is the agreement with RAZBAM still in place (a recent podcast with RAZBAM mentioned three helicopters in development but it's not clear if the BO-105 is included)? Is the recruitment of the new developer in June 2022 part of the collaboration with RAZBAM? Many screenshots are posted that highlight the development and updating of the graphic assets (and this is good) but considering that we have entered the eighth year of development since the original announcement, it is possible to officially know the current and concrete state of development of the module BO-105 PAH1A1 at present? Will there be an official report dedicated to the BO-105 PAH1A1 in the upcoming Eagle Dynamics NL dedicated to Third Parties? Thanks in advance for any response you may have! Bye Phant

Supercarrier Development Progress The Supercarrier has been receiving a lot of work behind the scenes. This can be divided into the following features: Ready Room and PRIFLY (airboss deck). Both views will provide new functionality never seen before in a DCS product. To complete this, we will first need to release the Vulkan API into DCS. Both rooms will be a 3D environment that support VR and Voice Chat that allows you to: Ready Room Review your mission brief and set up your aircraft. View various cameras around the deck. Chat with other players. Review the mission map. Live sounds from “the roof”. PRIFLY View the deck below you. Direct the carrier’s heading and speed with wind indications (permission controls available for network play). Control deck lighting. View PLAT CAM. View plotting map. New Plane Directors and Captains. The next big step is to add plane captains next to the aircraft that pass the pilot to a series of plane directors (yellow shirts) that will route the aircraft from its parking spot to the assigned catapult. Upon landing, yellow shirts will direct the aircraft from the landing box to its assigned parking location or back to a catapult. Bye Phant

A-10C II Tank Killer Development Progress The remaining feature for this module is the ARC-210 radio. This is nearing release, and it will feature UHF and VHF functions with related Upfront Controller (UFC), STAT page, and COMM page updates. This will add one ARC-210 radio and remove one of the two VHF radios. Following its release, we will then add satellite communications into the DCS World for all aircraft where it's available. As with the Hornet and Viper, we also plan to add DTC and Link 16 functions to the A-10C II, but this effort will not start until after 2023 given the amount of DTC work that must first happen with the Hornet and Viper. Also, after the Hornet and Viper efforts, we’d like to add a cockpit view pilot. Bye Phant
