  1. OK thank you, back to finding the funds to purchase :)
  2. Hang on, just to be perfectly clear. Are you saying that there is NO way to separate the panel from the throttle? Or are you saying that you can't buy the throttle without the panel? In a previous response to me you said they were separate and the throttle could be used without it. They are also clearly separate in the promo photos. If they cannot be separated (i.e. able to use the throttle without the panel physically attached) then that's going to be a very unfortunate deal-breaker for myself and I am guessing anyone else who is working on a full cockpit.
  3. Yeah I almost had it in the turn, almost lol. I don't have any curves set on the stick so this might be something I need to look into, because it is way to sensitive around the centre point when trying to AAR.
  4. If the reviews are good there might be a winwing Hornet HOTAS setup in my near future. Fingers crossed :)
  5. The best I have ever managed with air to air refuelling is a lucky contact that might last a second or two. I loaded up a training mission last night with the Rift S and not only was I much more easily able to hold formation with the tanker, connecting the probe felt like a conscious decision, not just good luck. I even managed to stay connected for more than 2 minutes on one of my hookups! I am so sold on VR. The only thing really making life difficult for me now in AAR is stick sensitivity, a bit of stiction that has started to appear in my warthog ... and the tanker decided to turn just as I am about to hookup lol.
  6. 2.5.5 does not like this mod unfortunately :(
  7. I have never locked mine once. You need to be able to move them independently, otherwise how do you do startup/shutdown properly for starters?
  8. I won't buy it until I see a review from a trusted reviewer or two. I'm building a full pit, I want a proper throttle with full travel and 100% accurate throttle/stick buttons/switches.
  9. That's why I'm going with the WINWING solution :)
  10. Thanks for the answer, just what I wanted to hear. And yes it's great as a starting point, but it is not accurate for a full home pit.
  11. It does feel a little bit like looking through binoculars, but I had absolutely no problem in A2A or A2G last night. In case people don't realise there is a button on the hood that lets you adjust it closer to your face, just like the PSVR. Unlike the PSVR though it does not have as fine an adjustment and I found I had to really jam it against my face, compressing the foam before it would "click" and stay in place. Suddenly my FOV was increased significantly. Having read the foam can be removed I will try that tonight and see if I can get it a bit closer for even more FOV.
  12. Thanks, I looked but couldn't find it. Appreciated muchly!
  13. OMG just did a 1v3 guns only dogfight. THIS THING IS AMAZING! No labels and I was able to spot and kill all 3 enemies, then landed at a random airbase. Best fun I have had in DCS since I bought the A10C all those years ago. My only complaint in the hornet is that I have to lean in to really be able to read the MFDs, at normal sitting position they are a tiny bit blurry. Unfortunately the VR zoom effectively smashes your face right up against them, it would be nice if you could set that to half the zoom amount. I'm getting the hang of the look at a button/switch then click the mouse to push/flip, but I am wondering if there is a way to bind the left/right mouse click actions to hotas buttons, that would be a game changer. edit: also haven't had the white flash since upgrading Nvidia drivers and headset firmware today. Still getting the black display if I leave it idle for a while, and requires a random number of oculus software restarts to get an image back.
  14. Does anyone else have an issue with popping/crackling through the built in speakers? Although it seems to have been "fixed" with the latest firmware update in that I now get no audio at all through the inbuilt speakers! Apart from that, I am loving it. Did some circuits in the hornet today and the depth perception makes such a difference. Tried some Case 1 recoveries on the carrier and only stuffed up due to my own ineptitude. Spotting the carrier is so much easier that I even turned off labels ;) One thing I did notice was that the field of view and clarity both increased considerably after I moved the headset "lower" ie hard down against my nose. Did some quick Huey flights around Normandy and once again depth perception makes hovering etc so much easier. I am running High settings for everything except shadows (flat), 16xAA and 2xMSAA and a PD of 1.5 and I am getting a great experience with no lag or stutters at all. Very impressed.
  15. Also from the patch notes ... worth a try If you're using Oculus Rift S and experiencing black screen and/or cable enumeration issues, please try opting into the latest PTC (https://support.oculus.com/200468603765391/) build of the Oculus software. We've included updates that should help.
  16. This looks amazing, will start saving now. Will want to see a review by at least one respected DCS reviewer first though ;) However, one dealbreaker ... is the "flight ops panel" permanently attached to the throttle base or can it be removed? It's a great idea, but my eventual plans are a full cockpit and I need the throttle without the panel attached for that purpose.
  17. Only had 5 minutes for a quick play at lunchtime, coming from a PSVR all I can say is WOW. More detailed review to come later. ... although I do appear to be suffering from the crackling audio that quite a few others are experiencing as well.
  18. As much as I love my Hornet, I think the first thing I am going to do when my Rift S arrives is go for a low level flight in the Huey over Normandy. Just saying :)
  19. Glad to hear that, I am 68mm and was concerned.
  20. You guys are a bad influence Now the long wait ... no retail stores in Aus, have to wait for delivery.
  21. Thanks for the feedback, that's good to know.
  22. Nice review. Just one thing, not sure if you know or not There is an option to get an external view (ie see through the display to the real world) using the cameras in the headset. I believe you currently have to use a button on the controller to enable it, I can't wait for someone to work out how to bind that function to a HOTAS button ...
  23. You guys are KILLING me ...
  24. Oh man, once DCS has a system that allows me to see through to my real cockpit with the in game out of cockpit visuals overlaid, I am sold :)
  25. This is a Hornet UFC, not A-10C
