  1. Is there any place on the planet that's not similar? Nearest place to get hardware/software is the Internet. Its hazardous to go outside..LOL..especially with the cell-phone addiction.
  2. Nineline, Is ED planning on developing other aircraft, that are not in the current inventory, coded intentionally for this new MAC? And are the 3rd party developers going to also do these MAC only aircraft? Sounds great too me. Instead of 3-4 year cycle to make a new aircraft, perhaps this avenue will allow many that we want here to become real. Of course ED will continue with their study sims. But these type for MAC will fund monies for further platforms etc. I would pay for these gladly...given a reasonable price. Like 50% of a new study sim which would put them in the same price category as other sims add on aircraft...Plus these will be on a much more authentic level. Laz
  3. Lets see...5 years...I will only be 80 years old. For models I want to fly that are not in DCS, I have purchased models from other vendors. With all the arguing about the FM and all not being correct here in DCS I find that I am quite satisfied and enjoy these substitutions just as much as the supposedly defective models here. All the hype here on new models which leads to long periods of endless waiting is no more a thought. Laz
  4. Try running Helios on a different computer. Use single mode fiber and 1gigbit router and 1gb nic. Tie this all together with Thunderbolt. Make sure your mother board supports this. Total price for all this should be 200.00 to 300.00. Gigabyte motherboards seem to support this protocol. Other mfg.s may work..?? Yours being Asus may or may not work. So, you may have to build another computer using a Gigabyte MB. A bare box type, to be able to run Helios and the lan connection hardware. Laz :D
  5. Reply 60.00 to 130.00 for a power supply? Spending more on the liquid cooling than the psu? My advice...get at least 850 watts, and search for the best mfgs. They will be more than you specified. Cheap spec. power supplies kill systems. IMHO Laz :D
  6. Just out of curiosity, what does DCS Tech Support, actually support? Laz
  7. It's all make believe. Set up a perfect " Battle of the Bulge" .....and the German side wins. And a lot of players on the Allied side are flying the ME109...thats realism? Wait...someone will make the maps we would like to see. If more aircraft are developed and I dont really care if they are FC-4 or not, personally it would be fine. I dont have the time too wait for the aircraft I would like to see, since they are on the 3-4 year plan. I have enjoyed many of the planes that are wanted here, already, in other simulators. I might add that some of those sims are almost as real as DCS. It does not bother me that some functions are not 100% accurately coded. Laz
  8. See what happens when the flight sim is on a holding pattern waiting for updates and too much time passes....Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most. I believe the black hole spewed the wrong kind of energy in the southern hemisphere reversing the gravity gear and reducing all rational thought to examples posted here. Laz
  9. Guys and Girls, I have used my newest computer that I had built for Flight Sims for another purpose. Looking at the computer requirements I was wondering what would be the best computer to enjoy DCS without any studders. What would a reasonable system consist of? What is the minimum processor, memory, storage (drives, SSD's, M2,), motherboard specs, video, and if you narrow down the case's ( mid-tower, full tower) and power supply to run DCS at a enjoyable pace. With 4k and VR as a requirement. I have looked at used gaming computers, Ebay and Craigs List. New, used....In my area there are always at least 3000 listings for computers, parts and consoles. As I was gazing at those I wondered what do you folks have that run DCS in a manner you are satisfied with? I know everyone would like a super computer but a good solid computer that in your opinion would be adequate? I do not want to build another 4000.00 unit. But then again what does it take to run DCS without poor performance? Laz :D
  10. Does that stick still have the plastic sticky ball configuration? Or has thrustmaster finally built a pivot assembly that matches their prices, hopefully with bearings and metal?
  11. There are better choices for Hotas's out there. Thrustmaster Warthog is not worth the price as the movement mechanism in the joystick is plastic and has caused a lot of headaches. Other joysticks have metal/ball bearings axis and are 1000% better. Google or look on this site for information on other setups. Laz
  12. Nine, asks" Let me know what you want to talk to ED about, or who at ED you want to talk to!" I would like to know who are the coders, who is their boss and who makes the decisions and has the final say on what is being developed. Be nice to know all the people involved with ED. I wonder how many people work on DCS and only DCS? Or does everyone at ED work on many projects in addition too DCS? How about introductions to all the folks at ED and maybe a tour of the facility. Its hard to choose when you do not know who.....and what they do. Laz
  13. Great site, nice to see information in one location. Thanks for the effort.
  14. I wonder about the performance with a Mac Pro running windows. I know that newer Mac's have Intel props but does this run through a emulator? What are your specifications on your Mac? Laz
  15. Just curious if ED mentioned what the fix is that needs testing? Seems like ED is also having trouble trying to fix this darn problem with freezes and studders in their software code. Imho I can only assume from all the information on this problem, the closest anyone has come to any common solutions is to have the fastest computer available. It appears that those who have these supercomputers can tweak them into eliminating the studders, albeit a lot of knowledge and many trials. As I mentioned before, the current philosophy on this blog is if you do not have the fastest hardware and ask a question, the usual reply after looking at your computer specifications and in their opinion, feel your computer is insufficient to run this very extremely resource hungry game is to upgrade your system. Imho, I also note that not only hardware but a background in computer science is also suggested/warranted . Their seems to be a lack of empathy for the less fortunate monetarily and scientifically educated. Not only these issues but the lack of personal time demanded to solve the current bugs in your setup. ED though is working tirelessly to solve issues. My hope is Ed will arrive at a stable release soon, that will justify my investment in their company's software and allow all my purchases to be able to run smoothly. Laz
  16. I see where your computer specs are perfect except for one. I have seen or heard that DCS will run much better on a SSD. There is also several points that persons here use, that helps with your common problem. I found the same as you trying to get information. It is frustrating. Folks do not read entire posts and do not answer all your questions. Here are a few....suggestions mentioned : "Try downgrading your Nvidia driver to the following exact version: 388.59." " Those of you having studding issues, especially in MP can you try to turn on VSync." "Just a reminder- make sure you are using full screen mode (but done with LALT+ENTER)." "I tried switching off vsync in game, and that made the fps go up into the 70s and the stutters seem to have disappeared too." (Contradicting statements) Those posts were in 2013 five years ago. Todays: "today my Flighttime was 2:20 Hours with A-10C on Caucasus Map and i had many small freezes and 1 heavy Freeze." From these posts on this entry no one has come up with solutions....many guesses and some trials work for some. The only thing I see is using a SSD drive. The problems are as always...a work in progress as ED is constantly changing the code which many times causes more bugs. ED is trying to repair and introduce more substance at the same time. I was counting on their release of 2.5 to finally be the stable release. They are still having problems but are working on solutions. To enjoy this software, you must have the patience of JOB. And deep pockets. Laz
  17. End of July or first week of August.
  18. Understood, thanks. Will the bonus points I will get from this new purchase also expire in two days? Laz
  19. I noticed I only have 2 more days before my bonus expires. I want to purchase the F-18 and the Persian Gulf. If I purchase both together I will acquire more bonus money. If I purchase separately I could use bonus from one one the other...but I do not see where I can enable/use these bonuses? Can I not use them? Laz
  20. What's wrong with a close approximation of some of these...Imho I think that is all we really get in any simulator. Without the absolutely perfect by the book model of some weapon systems, good replicates can be programmed. The purists can chose to not use them. You can label them anything you want....PFM,AFM,SFM,DHM,XXM,ABCM,JFKM to satisfy those who want but would not be able to tell the difference between the real item vs. the simulated version. ( Reading the repair manual or MFG'S published specifications and finding that a system is not modeled to exactly 10000000% of the real thing, which actually exceeds the product drop-out error prediction, that type personality again can chose not to involve themselves in that type of module...even though they would be hard pressed to find the difference between real and simulated. ) Yes, I realize that DCS is suppose to program there modules to as close to real as possible. And that is why some purchase these. But I believe one would find a close appropriation to be acceptable. Let me be clear so some wont let their preconceived affinities supersede what I am saying. I do not mean," aircraft to fly at mach 12, or missiles that never miss, or invisible structures, or other outrageous performance characteristics. ( At this point I would like to point out that flying a F-15 against a Mig 15 is hardly a realistic scenario.) But close to the actual properties with out bringing the layers of bureaucratic intervention to halt creation of any components deemed inappropriate or a conflict of interest by said country or organization of legitimate legal concern. Then we could have many of the modules that are mentioned ad nauseum and argued continuously. I have witnessed many modules in other simulators that are available and programmed by the same 3rd parties as are here in DCS. Which indicated to me that they have circumvented any opposition to its creation. And again I know that these are not "StudySim" type. And I have read that ED will not program non-study type aircraft or anything that resembles a FC-3 project. It's not that they can't, its that they won't. And their reason is none of our concern. laz

    Confused

Which version is now the stable one. Also how many versions are there...just 2.5 and the beta? Which one is the most stable and how stable is it? Is it worth dl everything or just wait? And what are we waiting for? Trying to stay informed is getting to confusing. Seems as though everyone has a solution for problems and all the solutions are different. I thought when ED released 2.5 it was going to be the golden version? Then ED will use the beta to introduce new/updates/bug fixes, new maps and modules leaving 2.5 alone until the new codes are stable and then they are move to the released stable version...2.5. If someone would kindly answer my questions and comment on my misunderstandings, I would thank you. Laz :D
  22. Does this mean With the change log and update "DCS 2.5 with new Caucasus map is available for public now!" does this mean it is the released version or does it have more bugs...memory leak etc? Laz
  23. Eats and Age I am 75 and like I mentioned in another post.....I am running out of time. When folks here mention the word patience.....I almost want to laugh. Many here talk about a new module they want...only take a few years to develop.....if you are in your 20's or 30's or even in your 50's you can wait and have all the patience that is mentioned here...often. I've invested a lot of money in this sim and only really want the modules I have purchased to be finished and 2.5 to be a stable base so things work without having to spend debug time trying to get it all to operate. Before I run out of time. My only advice is eat healthy, laugh often, give more than receive, take care of yourself and the planet and please take care of the animals before they are all gone. DieHard, I too have a medicine cabinet that looks like a pharmacy. If I took all the meds I am suppose to....I wouldn't last a week. I try and eat 4 small meals a day. I try and make the meals as healthy as I can....I slip up once in a while. My downfall is Ozzie Bites. Laz :D
  24. What is the latest estimate on the released version of 2.5? Have several plans to move cockpit and computers but do not want too until I can load the final version and then make choice of the controls which will not cause problems in any of the modules and 2.5. ( Yes I know all the usual tedious answers) I am old and running out of time and also do not have the energy to move this equipment more than once. :music_whistling: Laz :D
  25. Thanks.
