  1. What 460 is it? 768MB or 1GB? I'd recommend an upgrade to the GPU, or buy another maybe to use two monitors? Not sure how that works but if FPS only dropped after setting up second monitor, surely that\s GPU related, no?\
  2. Mmm..Class!!
  3. Hmm, not sure but if using CCleaner I found this site quite useful for a config that doesn't end up screwing with a system too much. http://savedtidbits.blogspot.com/2008/11/ccleaner.html
  4. Heh, true, but it's an interesting thought... Ah the rumour mill. Anyway, true sith, I think I'd possibly agree with your first sentence. I'll look forward to the Mustang!
  5. Well this is the next USA fixed wing aircraft that was talked about as being the next sim to be rolled out. I'm ambivalent, really, as long as they continue to update and allow each module to progress in unison, then mission accomplished as far as this paying customer is concerned. If they fail at that there will be plenty of other things to keep me occupied and plenty of other potential consumers for ED to keep occupied as well. I wonder and somewhat hope that the goal is to keep interest levels up amongst all sorts of PC flight sim enthusiasts and gamers wanting something a little more challenging, whilst ED just do what they enjoy. I shall embrace what comes when it comes. If I'm to say one thing that may show my more skeptical side then it's the worry that the dollars-in-the-eyes have started to appear amongst ED's management who now have more of an ambition of profiteering in mind whilst keeping potential customers hanging on to what may or may not be next. Seemed to me that ED was just a quality flight sim producer without any clear intention of what nor any particular situation/era being modelled. As long as it was something that could be an accurate representation for training purposes in whatever particular field they gather investment from. I'm guessing that the things we'll be likely to see come from ED this year are updates to A10/BS2, the new FX engine, Nevada and, nearing the end of the year, hopefully the Mustang. I am patiently looking forward to these releases and wish ED all the best. That said, it'd be nice to know what they had in the pipeline with regards a model of a jet fighter, if any, and when they expect to fulfill that expectation.
  6. Rocky, try clearing cache>>Settings>Safari. Or try a reset of all settings. Settings> General> Reset (I think) Choose reset all settings, not erase.
  7. Really looking forward to this one. So, what in others' opinions would be the ideal aircraft to pit this P51D against?
  8. Hello! I'm just thinking about buying a laptop that's powerful enough for maybe making the odd bit o music, not necessary for gaming but also speedy enough to be future proof and able to play high def video into (coming at a later date) a nice HD TV. I'm looking at the Lenovo ThinkPad range, particulary the i3 and i5 E520 versions. Would anyone here happen to have some opinions on these models or advice/tips on alternatives? Seems like the Lenovo range are fairly decent quality with nice specs at a reasonable price. Hmmm...:detective:

  10. There is the idea that no one else does this kind of sim so they have us by our balls, so to speak, but I really don't see ED as exploiting that. Even if they were I couldn't care less, I don't have to spend the money if I don't think it's worth it. When ED released BS2 I was very happy. Always under the impression it would be free but never fully sure of that as fact, we're left with a $20 bill to satisfy this need. And? I find that fairly reasonable and it really isn't all that much to give. As they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch. When it all comes down to dust I suppose ED is just another business and what they want is money! I will support them for a long time to come knowing that what they do, they do it extremely well. I have been waiting for this BS patch/upgrade for a while and no matter what, within reason of course, will pay the small fee to get my fix! :) ARMA's DLCs weren't far from the price but are lamented by some as bringing entirely new features and content and, for me, weren't really worth it. I'd like to see more problematic issues addressed other than new units and vehicles that they added. That said, it's a small amount of money to spend and I did enjoy the features. I believe they just shouldn't be compared to what ED are doing here. They're entirely different companies with entirely different titles and I reckon that unless one has that sorta original Operation Flashpoint fascination as I do with Black Shark then people will always feel hard done by when it comes to keeping their 'hobby' alive. Maybe I'm of that same ilk when it comes to how I view BIS and the ARMA series. It just seems to have lost something since Flashpoint and have a pessimism about whether ARMA 3 will be all that much better/improved. Well, time will tell and I do still love ARMA and I still love BS/A10. This leads me to the irony of the responses to the post I made over on BIS forums that announced the release of BS2. Not one person was positive about it! I'll probably address that soon, if I can be bothered, cause as someone else has said in this thread and I paraphrase, ya can't please all the people all the time. The irony is that BIS have released ARMA 2 with immersion killing bugs like AI walking through walls, unintelligent AI path finding, poor team/squad intelligence, strangely buggy player/AI animation etc etc and most of these, although made slightly better by modders are, from what I can understand at this early stage in its development, still there in ARMA3. I should be fairer than that, though and I'll hold judgement until it is fully released. Still, the point is there has been content which has been paid for that really hasn't addressed some of the more annoying and long in the tooth issues. When ARMA3 comes out I very much doubt we'll be able to access an upgrade price either, although I make this point without really believing that should be the case. The collidable trees issue seems to be the big one for ED here, though. It is one of those game breaking issues for some/most I suppose. For me, it can be lived with but also live in hope it may well be addressed at some point. If I can justify it I'm happy to spend the money on future modules, updates/upgrades and so on, as long as my interest stands and as long as I don't think ED are taking the piss. In this case, I really don't think they are. I think they deserve the money. Maybe I'm wrong but that's where I stand. In keeping with their original plan to update modules as they go, I think it must be a very daunting task for them to keep this promise of the series and one that I can justify having to show them support, especially financially. I'm not sure they'll be able to upgrade BS/A10 with every future module but I for one will pay this $20 if they do.
  11. Hmm, my damn Virgin media line was downloading at 1.1MB and now at 76% it's limited to 285 KB and I have another hour and 20 mins! :( ..:)
  12. Sweet! Purchased! $20 is fine and reasonable I think. Great job getting this done and I will be there to support future upgrades and modules! Thanks, ED and the team of testers, really looking forward to giving this a shot tonight!!!
  13. Just built an i7 for some mates and I ran the intel burn test... 87ish GFlops... My OC'd Q9550 @ 3.4Ghz (same speed as i7 out the box...) maxes at around 45 or summit. Wow, I want! :)
  14. Just to report that the issue still hasn't come back. I did, however, forget to mention that I reverted back to the 267.85 drivers at the time as well. Not once have I had the stopped responding message and the card has been fine running games and just browsing tinterweb.
  15. I can't wait for the patch but I have plenty of patience. A small update on things would be good but, well it doesn't really matter. As long as it's being worked on then, great! I'm not normally the optimist but I get the impression that ED are trying their best to implement a great deal of features with this patch and truly set the course for the coming modules? It just came to my mind, I'm wondering whether they've learnt a few lessons with the development of BS and subsequently A10 about do's and don'ts and how to prioritize certain features? No idea, just guessing...
  16. I just thought I'd post to make sure your motherboard has its USB controllers set to Hi Speed instead of Full Speed. A mate the other day had it set to only FullSpeed which is 12Mbits/s. Other than I'd wait n see what others can suggest. You could try testing your DPC latency with the DPC latency checker tools from Thesycon or Resplendence LatencyMon. See if anything comes up as causing a large delay? Not sure how much this will help but it may indicate a problem with the drivers somewhere on the system. Make sure your motherboard drivers in particular are up to date, among all other hardware drivers. Try different ports, both the stick and TIR may be sharing the same bus?
  17. Yeh that's fair enough, Pilot, but then again it never causes a problem whilst gaming where the temp rarely gets above 60 degrees. It's a 2D desktop problem. Again, another two days is it, since doing this and no stopped responding errors. hmmm...
  18. After I post this I'm sure it'll probably happen again...but since changing the PCI Express Link State Power Management setting from 'Off' to 'Moderate power savings', the problem has seemingly been solved for me. This has been the case for the last 3 days. I really doubt it's the card failing but more a Windows 7/Nvidia driver issue. I'll see what happens.
  19. Sitting in the living room, wanting to watch some TV, you get angry that the SHKVAL channel is impossible to find.
  20. Yeah, all it says, listed as a warning, is: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. EventID Qualifiers="0">4101 which then leads to this place: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd349439%28WS.10%29.aspx Seems it's something to do with Nvidia drivers or a dodgy Microsoft update. I really don't see it being the card as I have no problems whatsoever running games, no glitches or artifacts.
  21. Hello! Has anyone else encountered this rather annoying problem? Never disturbs my gaming but it does happen at odd moments whilst at the windows desktop just browsing sites. Just googled it and seems there are a few with the same issues, problem is there are no glitches (well, that's not a problem) but, what I mean is when running intensive games there is no issue at all. I have a 550W PSU , see my sig for my PC spec) and I'm fairly sure this isn't the problem.(?) The issue seems to have only come about after recent driver updates so I've just downloaded driver 267 from the ASUS website for my particular model and am currently seeing what happens. I've also changed the power saving feature for PCI Express in windows to moderate instead of off, which is what it's been set to for a while. Posting to see if there are any others who've had this 'driver stopped responding and then recovering successfully' message? Hmm :hmm:

  23. Thanks for the tips. I get around 40FPS at Batumi with A10 and BS, which I play mostly, and I'm fairly happy with that. I think I'll try and sell my set up soon and put the funds in for something. I think I'll upgrade in around 4-5 months, see what happens to prices of the current gen or ponder whether or not to spend a bit (lot) more on the next gen stuff.
  24. Thanks gents. Yeh hopefully gonna try n sort out a G27 so we'll see. The Fanatec stuff is amazing but yeh, far too much. That gear shift thing looks good, DEagle! You'll have to report back with a review when you get one! I'd be interested in readingwhat you think. That new Thrustmaster T500, I think it's called, looks sweet. Although I can't seem to find out for sure whether it's PC or just PS. Thanks again, I'll report back soon I hope.
  25. Bit of a Race07/GT Legends/STCC II addict at the moment and have dug out my old and ageing Saitek R440. I wouldn't mind getting something a little nicer, though, with some better feeling pedals. Seen the Thrusthamster RGT with the clutch pedal and it seems nice but am also wondering what else is out there that might be worth looking at for £100 and less? Anyone here indulge in driving sims? And wow, this thing looks amazing! Dunno how much it'll be but their other stuff looks lovely, and out of my price range really... Unless someone really could convince me to buy one o the Porsche GT ranges or something?
