I though that we had to cross the entire peninsula landing on different airports and having to refuel and calculate the best profiles or routes :) I was planning on doing some research on which fling pats and altitudes to use, calculating fuel loads and weights, climb rates and some serious math bur jeje. it looks like I wont need all that jeje

My view of the problem is that the US military needs is an aircraft that can deliver close air support with modern weapons without being too expensive. Unfortunately jet-fighters are getting very expensive even for the US. I guess that what they need is more a-10 and some aircrafts like the supertucano. We have been very successful using the supertucano against terrorist groups, because it can deliver laser guided bombs and can operate at night with the night vision goggles; it is relatively cheap; easy to operate; can land in short runways or roads and has modern avionics; that is why we haven't acquired something equivalent to our neighbors (venezuela) su-30, which to us would be an overkill. Part of the problems is that the US Air force wants to have the best equipment possible thus expensive aircrafts. It is the same problem we have in Colombia, we have an aging fleet of aircrafts, we want f-16s, but f-16 are expensive and the congress (US Congress)wont approve it, then; we choose the grippen, which is even more expensive, and again the congress (this time colombian) congress wont approve it; but what we truly need is a turboprop airplane like the Tucano. One thing is what we want and another thing what it is needed.

what did you expect, it is a helicopter! -
Do you guys have any info on the mig-29 specifications, like weight ratios aoa limits, weapon loads etc. I wonder because the mig-29K has a bigger wing than the mig-29 and it also has bigger tail sections coupled with a new flight control system, it also looks more maneuverable than the regular mig-29. There is a video in youtube where it does a high AOA roll which is very hard to do on lock-on, and I have never seen an older mig-29 doing it. I also wonder how does the the mig-29k fairs against an f-18 Super-hornet in terms of maneuverability?

Here is a video of the training session before the crash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMwyfQoFJ3kAfter watching this video you can tell at what point of the routine the accident happened. Also it is sad to say, but this video is probably the best airshow demo of an su-27 on youtube and maybe on the internet. It is a shame that the cameraman was outside of the field too. At least this video show how good the demo was. Rip for those brave man!

Very sad... my condolences to their families. Very sad to see my favorite airplane crash again. Here is another video of the accident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfdk7lFHq1o play attention to the sound at 2:48 and also the smoke of the engines, if I'm not wrong the flanker smokes when the engines are on military power right? and not when they have the afterburner engaged.

great job man, thank you for your hard work. Also guys did you noticed that this mig has a special flight model. How did you do that, it even has a smoky engine

jf-17 that is a fighter based on a rejected mig design, and the smt, mig-35 is a better deal than the smt

Ah he just didn't noticed that he had tiny bugs walking on top of the camera lenses, that is all. Seriously the day I see one UFO with my own eyes and see it land and drop several ETs I will become a believer. as a side note; My dad has a very cool UFO Story, he says that one night around 1979 he was driving his truck (7:00 pm) towards a town called Rio Negro and he saw a bright light hanging on top of the town. He saw several people pulling out of the road to see the UFO, he did the same , but because it was may "Dad" he though that it was a smart idea to try to establish communication with the "creatures onboard of the apparatus" so he started to turn on and off the headlights of his truck. While he was doing that people started yelling at him "stop that. It could be dangerous, we don't know what could happen" oddly enough the UFO noticed my (smart ass Dad attitude) and instantly like a flash moved on top of my dads truck living him totally blinded by the intensity of the light. After several seconds the UFO went back to were it was before, (after scaring the crap out of my dad, je je) the UFO stood there for around an hour and the disappeared leaving a small trace of light. That is his story, he also says that when the thing was floating on top of his truck it got really hot , but he does not remember if the UFO produced any kind of noise.

also building tend to create an echo and it makes more difficult to predict the helicopter position.

I'm familiar with the uh-60, which has a similar blade set up to the Apache. When flying low (I mean low very low )the uh-60 (high speed comming at you) It is really hard to notice. When it is flying at high altitude the noise is much easier to pick up. I know because I used to live close to a military base in Colombia were we have uh-60 UH-1H, MI-17, and Hughes-500 and ka-32. As a side note the ka-32 sound is very similar to the uh-1 and is very easy to confuse them, but still you can hear that their jet engines have a different sound.

There was a sim called A-10 Cuba and it had a very nice flight model, I was pretty similar to il-2, you could get into a tip stall or wing rock, I Don't know if that is what happens on the real jet if you pull to hard on the stick.

first R.I.P for the pilot. At least he was doing what he loved. I just have a question. If you loose both engines on a mig-29 does that means that you louse Hydraulic controls also? Isn't some kind of emergency back up system for that?
