  1. I just had another "update" notification. This time for 2.9.4.76. "Downloading update"...this is frozen and never completes. This is pretty pathetic!
  2. 2.5.2 release version. Aircraft does not steer well on deck, even with nose wheel steering high. Seems to slip about. I can not engage the cat after trapping and trying to take off again, blast shield stays flat and cat doesn't work. Even careful positioning over shuttle the cat does not work. AI wingman, after landing on deck then taxis to aft parking and then bounces up and down, like the model is not recognising the deck its parked on...?
  3. Running 2.5.2 release, I can not select STT from a RWS contact. Elevation is good and azimuth is near center, range is about 15 miles. Designate results in all contacts disappearing from the DDI. Also the contacts (Mig 29) are so difficult to search, I end up using the radar warning receiver to locate the AI targets. Is this a limitation of the early release status of the 2.5.2 stable release version, in other words do I have to wait for the beta improvements to filter down. Thanks.
  4. When will all the open beta updates get to the 2.5.2 "stable" version I am running? Just curious...thanks.
  5. Many thanks for the heads up. Works after re booting the sim.
  6. Selecting any MSAA setting other than off, removes the moving map display. Not having any MSAA produces jagged outlines of the aircraft and looks awful! DCS 2.5.2 release version. GTX 1080, 8 GB GPU RAM 32 GB RAM
  7. I went to start my 2.5.2 "stable" version. Message said 2.5.3 update available. I went to update and the process failed. Message box said awaiting process to complete, but nothing was happening...CPU process=0. I look at the log and see this, 00935.778 INFO : RMDIR E:\DCS World\_downloads\.torrents 00935.778 ERROR: Can't cleanup E:\DCS World\_downloads\.torrents: Can't remove directory E:\DCS World\_downloads\.torrents: (145) The directory is not empty. 00935.781 STATUS: Downloading update... 00935.781 INFO : Using HTTP/2 Any one else seeing this?
  8. Thanks for the lightening fast reply! The trim function has been reported elsewhere. I understand the Hornet has auto trim, but during autopilot mode in HDG, the altitude mode is deselected and I need some trim to maintain altitude. The autopilot modes cant be completed yet...can they? I mean, there is no couple, CPL, function to the Tacan or the waypoints. Or is this not an Hornet C block 20 feature? Then there is the Data feature on the DDI. There is no data page for the local Tacan's, the airbases, or the waypoints. Or maybe I am jumping the gun here and its not an implemented feature? These features are available in the Hornet "E". Thanks again for the reply.
  9. Hi all. Just got the 2.5.2 update and installed the Hornet. Is the ILS functional? I am not able to tune the ILS on the UFC, ILS UFC set to UFC, on right side panel. All I can see is CHNL, but what channel is 111.50? I am attempting to enter 111.50 for Kobuleti. Also I an not use the trim effectively, the trim is so slow. In AP HDG mode trying to adjust trim for nose up/down is too slow. Sorry if these are early access features not implemented, or if its my error? Cheers
  10. The autopilot mode should have a couple function that permits auto route navigation via inputted way points. Also a couple mode to follow the Tacan course selected by the pilot. Since the way points can be edited via the UFC and selected as target way points on the DDI, these functions ease pilot workload. The Hornet, being a Navy aircraft follows the Navy idiom of ease of use. If your single seat and undertaking a low level complex strike, the auto pilot function on CPL mode is very desirable. Hopefully ED will continue to add all the features of the Hornet. There are some more GPS data features to add, however it's not the "e", so an accurate c block 20 is probably their goal. Lovely handling aircraft though!
  11. Thanks. I just read about the "update" to the Normandy map. Looking forward to the "D-Day" additions. I wish ED would say that its "beta" only in their advertisement's. It would save me having to search on the forums for this information! When the beta 2.5.2 gets into my 2.5 "stable", I will be like a kid with a new toy....F/A18 (working with the release bugs sorted out). Normandy D-Day map etc etc... If its ready for Christmas? Cheers
  12. That's exactly what I wish to know! I bought the pre release Hornet, thinking (wrongly now it seems) that my 2.5 "stable" DCS world would run it! I don't wish to do "Beta" testing and furthermore, I object to paying for a product that only runs in a "beta" world! (Even if I did save $20). More transparency in the advertising and fancy videos would be appreciated. Something like, "You may only run the Hornet in the Beta version of DCS World, 2.5.2"! "So don't buy it unless you wish to run the Beta"! The good thing, to calm my frustration is that by the time the Hornet can be flown on a stable DCS World, they will have added all the extra weapons (not in the early release) that will make it a complete product!
  13. I have purchased the Hornet. I have release version 2.5. I can not download and run the Hornet in 2.5, I need Open Beta 2.5.2!! How long will it take to get 2.5 to 2.5.2 stable? I don't want a "Bata" DCS World, so it looks like I will either have to become a "Beta" tester or wait while the 2.5.2 is released into a stable release! Any ideas how long? Cheers.
  14. I just bought the pre release Hornet, before the Harrier! Even though the Harrier is flyable right now. I am thinking that when the training missions are out, then the Harrier will be completed. Although there are plenty of videos out which describe the available features, quite a few features are still in development in those videos. This leads me to think the aircraft is not yet complete enough for me to justify splashing out the $69. If scripted training missions can't be done because the features arn't finished, the aircraft isn't ready for me to buy.:music_whistling: Looks like everyone will be busy with the Hornet in a couple of weeks, hope the missing bits can be put in the Harrier soon, then I can learn to fly it properly with training missions. Best regards.
  15. A selectable refuel mode? The present refuelling system is both difficult and unrealistic. It's unrealistic in that the Basket or Boom can crash through your aircraft (and cockpit!) and absolutely no damage occurs! Contact with either should result in damage ranging from expensive to catastrophic. It's difficult since watching a monitor, sat on a computer chair, gives no feeling of flight dynamics or depth of field. All inputs in three dimensions are done with vastly reduced situational awareness. So I would like to see a "game" mode refuelling option. This would keep the current inability to damage your aircraft or Boom/basket, but would initiate a "lock", similar to what BMS did in Falcon, once you are receiving fuel. This would add enjoyment to gamers who want to enjoy refuelling in a game environment. The second mode, a simulation mode, would retain the difficulty of the present system but have damage or death incurred when the boom or basket collides with your aircraft. So two selectable refuel modes. Simulation standard and "game". The current system is neither. Cheers.
  16. I noticed in 2.5 Caucuses there are Trains included in the AI units list. I tried to set up a Train column, triggered by another unit entering it's "zone". Unfortunately the train didn't accept the trigger and remained inactive and invisible? I intended to start the Train as a delayed start unit, after a group of trucks entered it's trigger zone. The Train would then become a target in the mission. Is this a work in progress, a bug or my poor scripting? Thanks.
  17. In case you haven't bought it yet. 1. Unique aircraft. 2. Simulated with the ability to operate independent of any navaids, GPS or GCI etc. So a truly Cold War gone hot aircraft. If the enemy has crippled your GPS/Navaids/bases, you continue! Designed by the Swedes to attack enemy positions with known coordinates. More on that later! 3. Handling that simulates a single engine Bomber, so it's challenging. No flying a toy aircraft on rails here! 4. Flameouts can be corrected with straightforward procedure. 5. BK90 is superb. This is about to get an upgrade that will make the enemies eyes water and give us satisfying eye candy! 6. Anti Ship weapons permit either complex BVR and Beyond Radar Range attacks or close in and dangerous attacks. 7. Hand giuded missile that took hundreds of hours of simulator practice before front line pilots were typed to carry it! Keep you busy for months! 8. Three types of Mavrick available. 9. Sidewinders that are very useful for self defense. Get a enemy aircraft in the seeker zone and it's a kill. 10. You can receive coordinates from JTAC (CTLD) if any are alive down there and quickly input them into your INS set them up as target points and prosecute them. This gives a battlefield fluidity to the sim. Also can be flown at night or in fog and provided the weapon choice is correct, get the job done. You can land in fog/night using the Swedish version of ILS....see my movie. Oh, did I mention you can land on a road, with a powerful reverse thrust bucket you can really stop this aircraft! My Mission Not Impossible here; Cheers!
  18. 2.5 Caucuses lookin' good so far! Here's a few out takes from Mission. Cheers!
  19. Years ago, when I studied the A10C, I recall a mode called force Correlate Track. You could shoot a H Mavrick through a window on a building with that method! So seemingly the Viggen uses missiles that just use the "Centriod"track of which you speak? Thanks all for a great discussion. That's what's great about DCS and these forums, you never stop learning and enhancing the enjoyment of the hobby.
  20. Spot on Matt! Thank you! It was cycling the safety..... Also I noticed the weapon appears to lock without pressing "TV". Just moving the cross hairs to a "target" initiated a lock, which is nice and quick. There are three RB 75's in the weapons loadout screen. Which do you find the best, or are they all the same? Regards David
  21. Thanks again. I got one missile off and scored a hit! But then went to repeat it with the starboard missile and the collimated sight would not come on? I tried resetting for another attack but couldn't get the collimated sight on? Gun pods worked great though. Can you use both missiles? Cheers
  22. Thanks for the help guys. I am flying with gun pods as well. My procedure is; Nav to ANF T0 Move cross hairs to Target TV (Good lock obtained) Trigger to UNSAFE. Trigger pressed and held. I am not exactly over the "M" target waypoint, don't know if that matters? The targets were stationary BTR's. Incidentally, has anyone locked and hit a building? Thanks again. Cheers.
  23. Just installed 2.5 and most impressed...lovely! However I can't get the RB 75 off the rail? As an electro optical (Mavrick) stand off weapon that's claimed to lock on to vehicles, buildings and hardened silos, I can achieve a lock on vehicles only. After going trigger unsafe, I can't get the missile to fire. Even lowering range to 2 clicks, the missile won't launch. Also the collimated sight looks worse in 2.5, it's image is very bright. Anyone else having problems or is this just my hamfisted flying? Cheers.
  24. Superb update to a fine aircraft simulation. I recently got the Viggen out of the hangar in 2.5 and the new Caucuses map is just stunning at low level in the Viggen! I am creating some missions with a CTLD JTAC. The nice thing about that little add on is that you get the Coordinates fed to you with each newly identified target. You can place a JTAC in a camoflaged LUP and send a convoy past him. When he sees the convoy you will get the Coordinates and he will laser/IR/Smoke the target as well. Additionally you can order the JTAC to only identify specific targets, Air Defences, Armour, infantry......;) Now whacking them with a BK-90 will be very interesting! Thanks for the Viggen, if I can't have a GR4 then fast n'low in the Viggen it is!:pilotfly:
  25. I apologise if I am incorrect, but I could have sworn the switch was clickable before? The main issue are the indicator lights, they don't illuminate in the 2.5 cockpit. I haven't tried Riccardo's Blue cockpit yet, so perhaps that will brighten things up? Cheers.
