  1. To use the Pilot's sight you have to first pull it down (RSHIFT + M or click on the locking lever), then turn the sight on (click on silver switch behind the sight), then turn up the brightness (mouse roll the brightness knob on left side of the sight). We'll tidy this up of course, still a bit rough.
  2. As others have pointed out, the unnatural-looking liftoff in the promo clip is an AI helicopter. AI helicopters in DCS still use AFM dynamics, but without nearly as much detail in the calculations as player-controlled aircraft. More importantly, AI behavior scripts are relatively simple and that is really what you're seeing in the video - less an issue of unnatural dynamics and more an issue of AI behavior scripting. To be perfectly honest this promo clip was recorded quite a while ago and we would have liked to maybe dress it up a little more or record something more fresh, but everyone has just been taken up with other tasks as we got closer and closer to the open beta launch. In regards to the flight dynamics in general, I will say that we are very confident in the model and its general completeness and correctness even in its current state, more so than we were with the Huey FM at open beta launch. If you think it's off in some places, please come with proof in hand. :)
  3. Было такое дело: Правда кажется для этого выкрутили ветер метров 30/сек.
  4. I think - and so far this seems to be confirmed by those trying the Mi-8 now - you will find the Mi-8 easier to handle, in particular thanks to the stability augmentation system. With the Pitch/Roll autopilot channels engaged, control coupling is much less agressive unless you're putting in large, fast inputs. IMHO what makes these two modules so interesting is the ability to compare and contrast these two fundamentally similar, but still considerably different machines.
  5. You probably just need to create a new payload profile.
  6. Everyone, please mind the note in the official announcement thread:
  7. As Nate says, the cockpit hints are already in English. Some of them are still a little rough, but we plan to improve them further so they are more informative.
  11. Unfortunately ED's admin staff is a bit overloaded currently and not able to dedicate time to the wiki. It's not abandoned by any means, just has to wait for the time being.
  12. I believe a 3-minute gyro spin up time has been modeled for the Su-25 and Su-25T since their first creation as AFM aircraft in LO 1.1/original FC.
  13. The training does not say to fly a heading of 130, but simply set the HSI to 130 (although it should actually be set to 125). After contacting ATC, you are instructed to fly the heading provided by ATC (should be something like 220-230) until you reach the final approach point, at which point you will turn to final approach on runway heading and perform the final approach on the glideslope using the ADI directors.
  14. Recently a group of Belsimtek and ED devs took a field trip an airfield near Moscow to record sound samples of the Mi-8MTV2 helicopter for the upcoming DCS simulation. Besides the engine and rotor audio, the sim will also feature authentic sounds of all of the cockpit switches, knobs, electrical systems, pumps, and other elements of the helicopter. Each sound sample was recorded separately whenever possible for inclusion into the sim. In some cases, when a separate recording could not be made, the sound will be synthesized based on the sample audio. Primary audio (engines, rotors, systems) was recorded both from inside the cockpit and outside the helicopter. Engine and rotor audio was sampled during ground engine runs, hovering, and low flybys from different directions. Special recording equipment was used to capture quality audio samples despite the high wind speeds generated by the rotor blades. We are looking forward to offering you a truly authentic and immersive audio experience in DCS: Mi-8MTV2. Currently our sound engineer is working with the captured audio and we expect that his samples will be ready for addition into the project within 5-10 days.
  15. The mission should be working correctly last time I tested it. Could you save a track of you trying it and post it here so we can see where the problem may be? To save a track, you can launch the mission from the Mission Editor instead of the Training menu. This way when you exit the mission, you will have a Save Track button on the Debriefing menu.
  16. No, they are not. 1.2.4 already includes new updates and fixes to the training missions.
  18. The latest update includes fixed and updated training missions (with voiceover), but these are now stored separately and must be downloaded from the Training menu. http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=84214&d=1372403556 Yes, we plan on including additional training missions and videos for the final release. For the beta, the goal was to at least include enough training to give you enough information to be able to play (and hopefully pass) missions.
  19. Which videos are you looking for? They may be found on the ED YouTube channel, where they have placed most of the video content: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9tywGY4x6edishjNHJAs-w
  20. Just tested in public build and it's working here. Look for the "Install (EN)" button/link in the UH-1H Training menu.
  21. There is a 'set cargo weight' trigger action in the ME, which can be used to set the cargo weight for the player's helicopter.
  22. They should be available as a download from the Training menu. Is this not working for you?
  23. List of features we are working on and hope to implement for the final release version (subject to change...): - Further improvements to the rotor and engine models - Correct engine start procedure to include throttle Off and Idle positions as well as ignition trigger and Idle Release switch - XM60 Reflex aiming sight for the right pilot - Radar altimeter - Chaff/flare dispensing system - M134 minigun as door gun - M60 door gun bullet dispersion - Improved crew AI (initially only door gunner AI) - Unarmed "slick" variant - Sling load modeling - Assault troops animation (depends on infantry modeling progress)
  24. There are a couple of issues here that cause a lot of confusion and that I hope we'll be able to rectify sooner or later. First of all the ME/F10 map shows True headings, not Magnetic. That means what you see on the map is about 6-8 degrees greater than what you see in the cockpit (of Western aircraft, since Russian aircraft display True headings in the cockpit as well). For example in Batumi the map is showing 126 degrees True, so the actual cockpit heading for landing is actually 120. Specifically in the Landing mission, the instructor says 130 simply based on the CDU page, which rounds up the True heading from the database. We've made a suggestion for ED to add a True/Magnetic switch to the ME/F10 map, so we are aware of the need.
  25. Open and launch the mission from the Mission Editor. You will then get a Debriefing menu when you exit the mission, where you can save the track.
