  1. The exhaust flames in ED's P-51D were intended to only be visible in low light conditions and have some variety in their appearance to indicate engine performance settings and health. It's just a feature that wasn't quite finished and was left in-game as is for the time being. They do hope to be able to do some more work on this (and smoke) when some time is available between other priorities.
  2. This was already answered above. There's no need for any "paranoia" about dumbing down the FM. We have absolutely no interest to do so. We have two very experienced former Huey pilots actively testing the Huey on our test team and it is their feedback, along with other subject matter experts we work with, that guides our tuning of the FM. The FM has not radically changed since open beta release. There has just been some tuning of the stabilizer bar and main rotor models, which has lead to increased damping and stability as described by our test pilots. I don't want to speak on their behalf as they are free to comment publically whenever they have the time and desire (and have done so already prior to this update). We are still not final, so further tuning will still continue as we move forward. However we are confident in saying that the increased stability in this update is more realistic than the original tuning of the open beta release version.
  4. We certainly don't tune the FM to make it artificially easier or harder. Our goal is to make it as correct as possible. This is based on correct modeling of the physical dynamics and feedback from our actual or former Huey pilots involved with testing.
  5. We try to focus our changes on feedback from pilots. :) DCS World update.
  6. Yes, the vortex ring "hole" is also more narrow and soft.
  9. Great opportunity! Looking forward to the report. I'm not sure how familiar you are with these particular pilots (I am not), but in my experience, working with pilots can be a little tricky when assesing realism, in particular if your time is limited and they don't have much experience with the sim, and especially if they don't have much experience with sims in general. I sometimes find that pilots immediately have a very low expectation of realism from a PC sim. The mere idea of equating their actual flying experience to the PC, where you are sitting in a chair behind a monitor and flying with joysticks is itself too alien to call "realistic". I often find that pilots are more impressed by and interested in things like visuals and sound representation and less so with things like flight modeling and performance, which they simply assume has no useful resemblence to reality. In fact most pilots I've seen flying our sims initially just yank and bank the stick around, stalling all over the place. Unless actual model testing is the objective, they mostly just want to have fun with it and take the chance to do stuff they cannot in the real bird! ;) The point is, when trying to evaluate a sim with a pilot, it's important that the pilot has a good understanding of how to translate his real world experience into the sim, try to filter out things like stick and rudder feel and try as much as possible to focus on the numbers - airspeed, roll rate, climb rate, stick travel, etc. This can be quite difficult to do and often takes time and work with the sim presenter. The general feel of the model is of course very important as well and this feedback is valuable, but again, has to be based on something concrete as much as possible. Anyway, I don't mean to be pessimistic! I would love to be there with you, it's a great opportunity and should be good fun! Personally, I would like to hear their feedback on the landing touchdown physics. Again, if possible, considered by the numbers.
  11. As we've mentioned on the forums a couple of times, we've made some adjustments to the FM recently and hope to release it to you in an update soon. As a matter of personal opinion, I am very impressed by how much it resembles what we hear from Huey pilots. Don't expect anything radically different, it's just tuning of what's already there, but the stabilizer bar now has a stronger feel in damping out both cyclic input and abrupt attitude changes. In hover, small attitude changes will result in slip/drift more than pitch and roll, unless input is large enough to push through the damping.
  13. You might also want to try to clear our your input settings (at least joystick) in the DCS user files folder on the OS drive.
  14. Opened dedicated thread in the Missions/Campaigns section to post mission files. Please discuss the missions in separate threads, so that the missions themselves can be easily found in the dedicated thread. Thanks! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105999
  15. When posting a mission, please follow the below template, which we hope will make it easier for players to browse the thread and review available missions. Thank you!
  16. Use this thread to post UH-1H missions. Please limit posts in this thread to mission announcements only, leaving discussion to a separate thread (to which you can link in the announcement if you like).
  17. You need to check your Axis Commands to make sure the stick/throttle/pedals are not cross-mapped to other flight controls (like pedals may be mapped to cyclic), which can cause conflicting input.
  18. Compaing FPS between online and offline is an unreliable affair, because some game/graphics settings can be pushed from the server. Of course the mission itself may also impact FPS. The only way to do a clean FPS comparison would be to run the same mission saved and then ran under the same settings between the two machines.
  19. That's correct, the trigger changes the cargo weight to model the loading/unloading of troops. The weight is too much for the current FM, although was just right when tested in previous builds. WIP...
  20. The lack of the Batumi NDB map icon is probably just a bug. Did you find many others missing?
  21. The NDBs are already displayed on the ME map with their freqs.
  22. You probably have "Central Position" trimmer mode selected. This means after you trim, you need to re-center the stick and pedals before you regain control. If you don't want this "freeze" to happen, turn off Center Position trimmer mode. You can check this setting in Options > Special > UH-1H.
  23. If you don't want to use bitTorrent, you can now download the archive with updated missions here (at least until they block it): http://ge.tt/8Zd9kyf/v/0?c To use bitTorrent, you need an application. There are many, but uTorrent seems to be one of the more popular ones (also what I use). Hopefully it will just work pretty much by itself once you install it. Just double-click on the little torrent file I provided and uTorrent should pick it up. You will then just have to figure out where to save the download.
