I think it's safe to conclude that this guy isn't from VF-31. The fact that the guy was passing out whenever the pilot put G on the jet also tells you that he probably doesn't have too much time in fast movers. I think the photos speak volumes. Compare the patches on sleepy-head's chest. Very much alike. In the off-chance that HS-9 isn't his squadron, I can tell you that there are no Tomcat squadrons with a patch that looks like his.

A similar act was carried out by US Army Special Forces and some USMC AH-1W's. I saw the account on the Military Channel. They used the gun bay doors as seats. They wern't attempting a rescue though. It saddens me to hear that the Royal Marine didn't make it...

Oh, I know. Still, I doubt that there is much going on the the Chinese aerospace industry. Looking at the past, what was the last semi-excellent example of aircraft engineering to come out of China? I thought it was pretty cool. My only complaint was the complete disregard for realistic carrier operations. Two jets landing at the same time kind of cheezed it up IMHO. One jet at a time would have had a much more authentic feel. That is definately not a shot at your movie making skills. The more videos we have, the better. Nice job.

I am curious if there is a mod out allowing you to use the Hornet off of a flat top. Currently they use the Su-27 if you mod the file, can this be altered to use the 33? If so, would someone be kind enought to explain the process? Thanks guys! -Hellcat

Question: Can you zoom using the mav seeker head? I find it hard to zero in on potential targets with my mavs when im flying far out. They tend to lock on to random objects that I have no intention of destroying (trees, buildings, random cars going down the street). I've looked through the lists of key commands and cant seem to find anything workable. Thanks!

It's a Delta model too, and a VF-31 skin never hurts! That will be awesome in game. Im glad someone decided to replace the craptastic Alfa we had from 1.02.

For starters, the guy doesn't have a Tomcatters patch on his chest, so how are you getting VF-31? Secondly, pilots arn't assigned specific jets. Navy pilots don't fly the same jet every hop, so your "107" remark is obvious BS. So right now, your only defence is that both guys have mustches. Come on man.

There are two commonly shown video's of Tomcat's during catastophic engine failure. One you may have seen in a TV program called Carrier: Fortress at Sea, and the other is a common internet video. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/32209/f_14_explosion/. I am unable to summon a copy of the Fortress at Sea crash, but if you watch the Discovery Channel enough, you will be sure to catch it.:D Both of these crashes are attributed to compressor stalls on Alpha model Tomcats. I believe Groove is speaking about the one in the video above. This was in fact an explosion due to an engine stall. They were doing a near supersonic flyby of the USS John Paul Jones, an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer. There are numerous aircraft called "hanger queens". It is usually given to a specific aircraft within a squadron that has constant ailments. This term was never limited to one jet, or specifically the F-14. -Helk
