Speaking of the armament. Do you guys have any interesting recordings showing the supposedly improved water and other fluid leak effects, as per the most recent update?

Any feedback on OpenTrack? I haven't updated it since January

@Megalax Thanks for the info! Really appreciated. The discrepancy is clearly there, you pointed out the magnitude of it pretty well. As for ED's decision to go for that compromise - I think the universal stance of people not agreeing with the decision is that the spoiled sense of height/scale is too extreme to be worth it.

DCS F-5E: ambient: crickets audio added...

Change of plans. Since it all takes so long I'm focusing on most compact items first. This means panels and electronics. The following shot presents all the rotary switches I need. The rest are either encoders or potentiometers.

Took me years before it clicked for me But wouldn't pin-point it passed a "helmeted character" as I never watched any mecha. Not an anime fan so I needed a push like that to recall an over-the-top anime on F1+ racing. Absolutely exotic in Central Europe of the time (early 90's). https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=Arrow+Emblem+Grand+Prix+no+Taka&iax=images&ia=images In the following decades I discovered that some of the animations I used to enjoy and took for granted as Western were either anime or by Japanese animation studios (Cities of Gold, Nils Holgersson, Maya The Bee...). That said during the many years on the forums I always enjoyed discussions GG was involved in. A guaranteed good read!

I extended my comment to various technical goods in general. As for the switching components, it's often the case everything can be ordered until you actually try to place an order OR the shipping and low-volume pricing sends the price to the orbit. To be precise, in case of switching components I mostly mean the high pricing. TME, RS, Mouser, yes, I know those retailers. Let's take the ALPS RKJXT1F42001 4P switch for the trim hat. For 4 of those I could have bought some all-metal flight stick base. The only reason I was able to buy them for around $12-15 a piece is that a Polish racing sim rig company was re-selling them.

@HempsteadHAs I live in Poland, add some 50% to that price. Subtract 90% to availability. Stuff that is commonly available , from Canada to Sri Lanka, is oftentimes hard to obtain in Poland. Also I've got an entire box of unfit switches. Mostly too light or a combination of too light and uneven operation. For some I failed to check specs, for some they were sold... without a stated model. As for the one you linked, the retailers don't even bother to put a photo The linked spec sheet doesn't seem to mention 4-way anywhere. https://eu.mouser.com/datasheet/2/295/MN_ToggleSections_DP-3389170.pdf I don't crave the journey, I'm just aware there are multiple non-standard switches in F-5E.

Doesn't it have at least a weight bob like the F-5E?

transparent components like the landing gear knob

A legitimate option but I can't spend the time on it on the first iteration of the pit. -

I'm focusing on staying DCS-clean for now, to jumpstart some simpit work. It sure came in handy June-September -

May I ask for high quality versions of the newsletter screenshots? -

Some of the recent Afghan shots clearly show adjusted lighting or even atmosphere modeling. Any details on that? I'm not saying it's Afghan-map-specific. I just noticed it around the time of Afghanistan release. -
Thanks Scott-S6, but that'd need to be some 3 times smaller Nevermind, making it myself. Don't forget we've got a SOLENOID LATCHING 3-pos switch to make as well (fuel balance switch)
-
@Mr_Burns You'd have to be 90 years old to be part of the design process for that panel Interesting story and you were very lucky. BTW, Cura slicer has an option to print loaded 3D model as a casting form, just like that.
-
If you don't mind me asking... Were you involved in designing the panel? Or do you work in aerospace engineering?

Custom switches for those special cases in F-5E cockpit: 1. Left panel - Bomb ARM 2. Right panel - Fuel balance 3. Right panel - Cabin temp 4. Throttle - speed brake rocker 5. Throttle - flaps slider Alternatives: Ad. 4. Industrial rotary switch plus a lever / takes lots of space! / step angle matching required Edit: This is pretty much exactly what I have in mind. [ ] BUY LONG TO-BE-CUT M4 SCREWS Ad. 5. .............. continuing from For this kind of work a stock of externally threaded M12 pipe would be useful, to have a ready-made starting point. Those huge thumb rocker for airbrake and the slider for the flaps are also something I'm going to have to devise on my own. Well, the thread standards don't make it any easier. Chinese ~11.8x0.75 pitch =~ M12x0.75 Polish/Russian ~11.9x1.0 pitch =~ M12x1.0 Standard machine metric tap 12x1.75 pitch American MIL standard (MIL-DTL-3950?) "Threaded bushing—0.468 in (11.89 mm) dia., 32 threads/inchKeyway—0.068 x 0.035 in (1.73 x 0.89 mm) deep; provides anti-rotation" = 15/32-32 UNF???

Yes, as you can swe above. 3- or 4- position lever switches, cross pattern.

@No1sonukCould you please post a photo of the solution? Problematic switches: 1. Left panel - Bomb ARM 2. Right panel - Fuel balance 3. Right panel - Cabin temp
