DCS 1.5.2.49392 Update 2 release notes
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to HornedGod's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
There are differences indeed :-) and for better. Probably those items that Yo-Yo had already fixed but didn't find their way into a release are finally implemented. What I notice is: 1) Using the Quick Takeoff Mission, and changing the MW50 ( last tab ) to Empty, probably really empties the MW50 tank now, because after takeoff, specially if your fuel tank is not filled, and the less fuel you carry the more, you will need to trim tail heavy! 2) On landing, between -3 and -4 tail heavy trim, with prop set to 11:45 and full flaps, gear down, gives you a perfect glide path. 3) I'm not absolutely sure about this one, but accelerated stalls, when the slats deploy, are a lot more benign, and for sure the power off stall is now PERFECT! 4) The "Flaps with Gear Up" horn is now a lot tuned down :-) -
How do you fly the p51d when dogfighting...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
No problem, but yes, 36 yrs flying gliders has given me some good coordination skills :-) But it's the wobbling, probably due to prop effects at higher AoA / slower speeds that turns the aircraft into a rather unstable gun platform. I have to be sure I'm always above 250 km/h to ave some good chances :-) -
The P51d was my entry into DCS, but with the D9 and K4 modules I became spoiled by their stability and response over a wide range of speeds, ease of management, and the fact that I do prefer them, by far, as aircraft than the p51d, but, sometimes I pick the pony, specially when there is imbalance in a server I get logged into online. My biggest problem is that the p51d turns to be a very "wobbling" / unstable platform whenmy speed get's bellow 230 KIAS or so. If I deploy even single point of flaps and use higher power settings during a dogfight, things turn even worst. So, what's the best technique to use when using the p51d against other fighters ? Is it supposed to use with B & Z just like the Dora ?

Pilot G-limit compared to the Bf 109 and Fw 190
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Dirkan's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Blackout due to G in the K-4 looks very plausible to me now. On the D-9, though, I seldom can induce it. -
DCS 1.5.2.49392 Update 2 release notes
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to HornedGod's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I tried it at one of the servers this morning, although I flew mainly the p51d, and didn't notice any differences, but then, after an hour flying that "unstable" and "wobbly" p51d, anything feels easier and better, even more the K-4 :-) -
DCS 1.5.2.49392 Update 2 release notes
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to HornedGod's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Sometimes these updates reset the takeoff assist and auto rudder settings in the "Special" menu. Make sure you set them back to no takeoff assist ( 0%, slider full left ) and untick the auto-rudder box. -
Same here.

At least in the latest versions of the K-4, which is after all still in beta, the control stiffening with dynamic pressure has been modeled in what I believe to be a very plausible "replica" of the real thing. We get rudder, aileron and elevator forces that create big problems if we get up to 700+ km/h, and even less, in agreement with pretty much everything I read IRL.

Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
You have it already in DCS's K-4. Try a skidding tight turn :-) -
I have reached what I consider, for my Saitek Combat Pro rudder system, the optimum settings in as far as "axis tuning" is concerned. I have applied this settings not only to the K-4, but to all of the modules I presently own: K-4 D-9 P51d Tf-51d Of course, after ticking the "invert axis" box, I set it to "Slider" mode, and give it 100% curve ( slider full right ). This way there are no unwanted abrupt brake inputs during taxi or landing.

Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Klaus Plasa kindly answered me about that a few days ago, regarding the G10 : "The slats do deploy either during combat maneuvers or prior to an unaccelerated stall. They are very smooth and unless the pilot watches them he wouldn't be able to tell when they pop out. A very nice feature on this airplane. As in most of this class of aircraft there is virtually no pre stall buffeting. The wing drops usually right or left to about 30-40* bank and about 30* nose down pitch attitude. It is very good controllable and recovers easily ." Klaus was very kind in answering my questions regarding his extensive experience on the 109s he flies from the "Messerschmitt Museum", and, as I was reading most of his messages ( which I passed to Yo-Yo ), my appraise of the K-4 in DCS made me think we really have here another of Yo-Yo's / ED's Masterpiece... -
Very interesting read rel4y! Thx for sharing! Which, BTW, and together with what I've been reading, contributes even more to raise the level of accuracy reached by our K-4 in DCS !

how to do cross wind landing in Bf 109
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to wolle's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Good job, but you should have landed on the sane runway because you took off with starboard wing and landed with port wing, which sums, in terms of prop effects, with the weathervane tendency... -
It's really strange ? When I fly it in online servers ( i.e. ACG ) I get all of the effects, but when I use the quickstart situ, it's different... Will have to check if a wind is set in that situ that might be countering the left veering ...

how to do cross wind landing in Bf 109
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to wolle's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Not a bug, it's simply not a quick start mission. One has to go through the Mission Editor, then select the folder icon on the left menu, then the Bf109k4, and inside that, the Campaign folder, where the mission for landing under x-wind is saved. I tried to record a track of my landing, but the track playback doesn't work :-( -

Ah! You have to go through the Mission Editor, open the Missions Folder, the Bf109 K-4 subfolder, and it's there :-) -
how to do cross wind landing in Bf 109
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to wolle's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I'll try to save a track latter today, using the mission that comes with the K-4 named something like "landing difficult", where strong x-wind, precipitation and turbulence are all present, but basically there are only two feasible approaches: 1) land in crab, 3 point, aligned with the prevailing wind, and the most downwind as possible inside of the rw limits, so that in a correct 3-point landing you can immediately pull the stick back and start using downwind toe brake and rudder to align with the rw centerline, while holding "into the wind" aileron. 2) use the wing low approach, coming on a crab aligning as much as possible your ground track with the rw centerline, and bellow 20m starting to uncrab, using downwind rudder and upwind aileron, keeping the wind wing down as much as possible and trying to be as level as possible, and three point as you touch down. -
Should we be able to observe fluttering at higher ( 750km/h + ) speeds ? I can dive past that speed in the K-4, and the stick forces ( and rudder too ) increase considerably, and, at limiting speeds I start "losing parts", but there is never an hint of flutter, the stick never shakes either ?

It happened to me to, not only the guns but other functions namely those which I have mapped to default keyboard keys. Apparently it is solved when I close the chat window. If chat window is opened, and specially if the input line active, some axis, buttons and keys will be swallowed :-)

DCS is the Aerowinx PSX of flghter and rotary wing aircraft :-) -
Zulfi, open a new thread there and copy & paste this to that new thread :-)

Framerate drops when throttle is at idle in 109
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Aluminum Donkey's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same here Devrim, circuits with no drop at all. I believe one of the main problems with DCS is sound processing. - If you have Hyperthreading in your MB enables, try disabling it; - If you own a onbord soundcard, and a Nvidia and have installed the Nvidia sound drivers, please try re-ijnstalling the Nvidia Sound drivers and use ** only ** your onboard sound device and drivers in your Windows install... -
Framerate drops when throttle is at idle in 109
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Aluminum Donkey's topic in Bugs and Problems
On my system, bellow, the frames stay fixed at 60 all of the time, flying any of the quick missions, operating the prop manually or automatically, and throttle from idle to full (WEP). -
I think I will stick to my stick :-) The T.16000 is the closest to a Warthog I can buy ( with the HAL sensors )... and it's not bad. My "HOTAS" is a semi broken unit from a broken X52 a friend was about to throw out of the window, risking hitting some poor guy on the street... The combination, not being perfect, is still very good, and with the money I would have to spend in a Warthog, a few good glider flights IRL can be payed :-) Around here it is simply impossible to find a used FFB2, and I am not going to purchase one without being able to see it first... Anyway, thank you all, very much, for your posts !

Ok Yo-Yo, Thx, I just confirmed on 1.5.2, latest release, Takeoff from Batumi. No rudder needed during the takeoff run, but as I get airborne the prop effects are active again.
