No link, but rather a private exchange of info with one of the pilot's working with the 109 Project at EADS :-)
-
Also, if you do not push fwd you will still have a 6º deflection either side as you use rudder to turn on the taxiways.

Same here, (0, 0) And, the more I play DCS's K-4, the more I understand why ( specially after having had the chance to hear the opinion of a real world Bf 109 exhibition pilot ) that it was correct not to make the elevator trim tab adjustable - it would probably bring only performance problems, when less needed :-)
-
Me too - together with Aerowinx PSX, they're my study sims :-)

A blocked pitot-static problem will only affect airspeed indicators. A blocked pitot tube will cause the airspeed indicator to register an increase in airspeed when the aircraft climbs, even though actual airspeed is constant. This is caused by the pressure in the pitot system remaining constant when the atmospheric pressure (and static pressure) are decreasing. In reverse, the airspeed indicator will show a decrease in airspeed when the aircraft descends. I'm glad to find DCS correctly models this. Will search for the remaining error combinations of dynamic / static / both ports, all modeled correctly only on a few sims ELITE being the only one for GA that I know models it correctly. See "https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/pilot_handbook/media/PHAK%20-%20Chapter%2007.pdf" under "Blocked Pitot System"

Probably damage to your pitot dynamic port ?

mugen, this one is great and comproves what I myself have experienced several times in DCS World when trying to takeoff from a field, out of the runways... Why the heck do we have to land there first ? Does the state of the surface / zone in a Map change depending on if you actually landed there or not, during the time of a mission ? Very interesting!
-
In the above posted video the author operates from one. It even has a tower pretty much like those in IL-2 BoS :-) Did the author build the strip himself ? Is this possible in DCS Maps as a Mod ?
-
Great video!!! I didn't know there were grass strips in DCS ???? Did you create one in a mission or so ? Where are they ?
-
I would actually avoid, by all means, being tempted to look inside and into the instruments, even less the rather "nervous" turn coordinator during takeoff or landing. Always look outside, and find there, and the further away ( ahead ) the best, choose your visual references and make your inputs to overcome any unwanted tendencies in roll or yaw / direction while on ground...

Just as DCS allows developers to create their own wrappers for flight dynamics, and use DSC World's World as the visuals platform, I wonder if it would be possible to create a connector for doing the opposite ? DCS's flight dynamics allows for the experience of what are probably the most accurate representations available in any simulator I have used of a P51d, Bf 109 K-4 and Fw190 D-9, as well as those of the UH-1H and Mi-8 ( the modules I presently own ), but it's World / Maps are limited areas of the Globe, and take a lot of work and time to develop. Could aircraft position / states be injected into another flight simulator, such as X-Plane 10 for instance ? DCS would run in graphics-less mode, with just the core FDM and satellite systems engines consuming CPU cycles, while X-Plane 10 could be used for the visuals, pretty much like I do with Aerowinx PSX and X-Plane 10... ? Of course this could extend to MSFS, Outerra... World simulations...

[REPORTED] Damage Model - Governor and Generator.
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to NightRush's topic in Bugs and Problems
Very good points and presentation in the OP. I know ED / Yo-Yo are certainly busy working on their ongoing projects, but if one day they can find some time to fine tune the damage models, not only for the 51 but also for the 109, which suffers from the some governors sensitivity, that would be just great! -
Thx a LOT Bucic - will give it a try!

I no longer have Nevada installed, and am waiting for the Caucasus Map to be upgraded to the new scenery format, but on both Maps I sometimes notice that the taxiways / runways look too small compared to the aircraft I am using ( I only use the ww2 birds and the helicopters in DCS ). I started having this "feel" at the Caucasus aerodromes, but thought this might be a limitation of the real aerodromes, but when I started using the international airport and the airbases in Nevada I had that same sensation of too narrow taxiways, or too big an aircraft 3d model( when we're inside of them ). don't know how to describe this in a better way, but was just wondering if any other users feel the same ?

If you pass the rw threshold at 200 KIAS, cut the throttle, pull back on the stick trying to touch down in three points, and, as you're on ground, hold the stick back to lock the tailwheel. Minor rudder inputs will then be required to stay on the runway. If you flare to much and start climbing, hold the stick still, until the aircraft falls again in it's three wheels, which is way better than enter purposing by giving stick.... Always remember: In the Fw190 the only way to have directional control on ground to go straight is by locking the tailwheel because the rudder becomes almost totally infective at slower speeds and power settings, so PULL THE STICK BACK until the aircraft loses enough speed or you want to start turning to leave the rw. Use toe brakes then, and neutral stick, and pull it back again to go straight. It's piece of cake once you get it :-)

Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Thx Yo-Yo, and indeed the trim I now use is, depending on my load and fuel, is very plausible and in agreement with what Klaus described in his messages ! I believe we're close to final  -

Otto, excellent video and combat performance. Regarding the view perspective in DCS, specially when Zoom axis is used, I never liked it the way it is implemented because it overly distorts under some angles. As for the flight dynamics, I think the 109 is now close to PERFECT. The control stiffness with higher IAS is realistic ( Klaus Plasa confirmed this to me ) and I do believe they solved the filled MW50 tank bug, although the GW still displays the same on the Mission Editor. For me it's evident on the trim changes after the latest patch, when I use a mission and fly it with MW50 vs Empty... -
You guys are making me jealous!!!

Great stuff... I really ought to invest on a 2nd monitor!

Bf109 K-4 pre-stall buffeting...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Otto, in my case I do notice a difference when I empty the fuel tank, even if, strangely, there is no change in the GW figure in the mission editor. -
On-line/MP Play: How to tell Friend from Foe at Distance
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
With or without imposters, it's difficult, spcially for a 52 yo guy having an increasingly lousy close vision and a cheap LED 22" monitor :-/ It is an area, together with the weirdiness of the view perspectives when using my TIR5 and the zoom axis, that I find rather distracting in DCS World. I believe it shapes the fact that this sim was developed with modern air war as it's main focus, and I would really like to find in it the visual quality I get in my other ww2 flight simulator, where everything looks so natural and, even if also difficult, much more plausible, comparing to my real life experience flying VFR, sometimes across crowded ( by other gliders ... ) skies. I look primarily at their shapes, with or without those strange "imposter" effects being active at the server I am using. The Bf 109s and Fw190s are easier to glimpse, with their longish tails... In the beginning I shot down a few friends... :-/ -
Chinese to me.... what are you talking about guys ????? :-)

The values I now use are those that Klaus Plasa told me he uses in the G10, and they work like a charm in our K-4 :-)
