Nope, on the D-9 you do not have the option for manually controlling the prop pitch.
-
What you heard in that documentary is particularly true when using the automatic prop pitch control, which sets the prop blades pitch into the right Angle of Attack in order to get the "ideal" RPMs for your ATA ( Atmospheres ) value. 1.0 ata (= 1 kg / sq.centimeter)

Sniper, my missions in DCS last no more than half an hour, so, I created that mnemonic, and... I also do not have any RW reference on how it should be done in a real p51d :-) I look at the needles, and as most of the time I am climbing like mad behind the AI, believe me that in 5 min they very perceptibly move, so, I switch.... But, as a glider pilot, you can guess that's not my main concern IRL :-)

1 -* I share your thoughts reflected. Just as I did with Klaus Plasa, I also exchanged a few messages with Dudley Henriques, and he confirmed pretty much what you pointed out above, and I also think... The same sensation of "lightness" also applies to the 109 K-4. I can taxi it more or less acceptably only with te stick pulled full back, when I believe the tail heavy Bf109s required stick ahead for tighter turns in order to unload the tail wheel...

I seldom used the fuselage tank, and even less the drop tanks, but you're right about that sequence. With only the two main wing tanks filled, I switch between them every 5 minutes at most. If using higher power settings I can switch every 2 minutes, the rational being that I really want to minimize any fuel imbalance effects...

How do you fly the p51d when dogfighting...

I'd rather be using the Ka-8... Actually a friend just got a Ka-6, in excellent shape. Picked it in Germany... -
Killing the engine quite a lot...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
heheh... shadow ? oops! -
IMO, nothing compares to the level of detail we get in DCS, overall - it's by far my preferred flight dynamics sim...

reflected, could you share what you changed please ? I'm interested :-) -
I hear you reflected.... Honestly, and after having had the chance to taxi our PA18.... and based on many other factors and information accumulated along years of flightsimming and rw flying ( in gliders only ) I guess the correct handling is somewhere between DCS and that other sim you also used reflected.... None does, IMO, a "perfect" job at recreating the tail surface authority due to propwash at taxi speeds and power settings, specially in the p51d... One shows less authority than I would expect, the other way too much IMO... Something in between would be great to have.... As much as FSX's flight dynamics can be considered in some aspects inferior to whatever we have in these ww2 sims, truth is the way, for instance, my A2A p51d behaved while taxiing was more credible / plausible to me... reflected, I believe the "problem" is not on you ;-)

Sorry for only now have seen your post... Portugal, and Spain. Started with Rhonlerche and Bergfalke, Blanik L-18, Mucha, Zie, ...., AS-K21, Grob Twin Acro, presently flying mostlly an "old" Pw6... -
Ah! that's good to know. I can't try 2.0.1 because I gave away Nevada - wasn't really interested in it other than as a proof of concept, and during the few days I played with it it really proved to be a great move towards an even better DCS World, but honestly Modern Air War and fighters do not appeal to me.... I am eagerly awaiting the ww2 Maps and aircraft modules, or any helicopters... Those are my choices for DCS World... Maybe we will have 1.5.3 by the end of next week but tell me, is it a new form of imposters ?

DieHard, yesterday, and latter today, I will also join again the DoW server. I use no mods, but am trying to adapt to correct identification techniques. After all IRL I also have problems sometimes, specially when flying my glider in a competition... I have to learn better how to take advantage of the p51d strong points. My main error is entering climbing pursuits.... loosing energy, and sucumbing to a clever 109 or 190 pilot...

Altimeter and spedometer dropping to zero
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Mud's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
ASI ( speedometer as some are calling it here ), VS and altimeter all depend on the pitot static and dynamic ports. Find it all here, and understand the types of errors that can result from problems in the pitot system... "https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/pilot_handbook/media/PHAK%20-%20Chapter%2007.pdf" under "Blocked Pitot System"... -
Altimeter and spedometer dropping to zero
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Mud's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
The problem is in humidity, not really the low temps... I don't know how DCS's weather model treats moist.... but that could explain it... -
One thing... since I bought Nevada in November 2015, I though I was entitled to get a key for the A10c Campaign ? But I do not have any new key in my account ?
-
I just hope it's PORTUGAL Map, and an AS-K21 Glider, or an Apha Jet !!!
-
The Mig21 photo :-)
-
It has actually become my ** only ** flightsim ! It was, during a couple of months, shared with a ww2 sim, but when we look closer into detail, in all aspects, future and stability ( it's lready 64 bit and DX11 ! ), and know about upcoming maps and aircraft, there simply is no other option... Time to dedicate fully to this great sim - and the many modules I wish I can buy in the future, starting with the Spit!
-
Wow ZULFI !!!! Great Signature!!!!
-
Welcome! You surely know me from there too :-) DCS World is now my **only** flight simulator :-)
-
:-( And I thought is was for glider tugging... Maybe a ww2 glider and a powerful tug airplane :-) "Cable released ! Free Flight !!!" - for the Normandy Map :)

In the latest versions of 1.5 it became possible to set in the aircraft Setup the trim tabs for rudder and aileron. I am almost sure this has been asked before, but couldn't find the thread in the forums, so I am asking again - sorry... :-/ What is supposed to happen if we don't touch the slider ? Does it mean it remains in "0" or in the predefined position set in the Fw190 and Bf109 modules, and, if this is the case, what is the value of that predefined setting for rudder and aileron on each of tese modules ? Thank you.

Very good!

Adjusting the Fw190 aileron trim tab...
Anatoli-Kagari9 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
I was the author of the OP, and made the first change, which became incorporated in a letter update of the aircraft module, so, at least for me there was no need to tweak it further. As it is right now it is using the value I chose and suggested in that original post. I would like to be able to do the same with the 3 trim tabs in the 109, but only two can be adjusted presently ( rudder and aileron ).
