anyone got facetracknoIR + ppjoy working with warthog?
fael097 replied to fael097's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
no answer... I assume you're using warthog 32bit, with trackir fix, instead of 64bit and ppjoy? -
I thought we were getting a flir fix on 1.1.0.8? srsly, It has been discussed manytimes, but tanks should look bright like the sun in flir. and yet we have lava textures, and sometimes tanks that look camouflated in the infrared camera. this is impossible. I mean, google for FLIR images, or just look new battlefield 3 flir imagery at 4:48 Im jealous.

Anyone connected a potentiometer to A-10C yet?
fael097 replied to TigersharkBAS's topic in Home Cockpits
Nir, that's awesome, thanks! but that's what I was afraid of, that I was going to need a dual pot. problem is that I just can't find a linear 100k dual pot with switch... lol about the led operations, I will try that if I ever find that pot cheers! -

working with warthog? srsly? you're using ppjoy? it's weird. I tried configurind one axis at a time, but with only front/back movement assigned, I had the weirdest output, like when moving my head aft, it would respond ok, but when moving forward, camera would go front and down. stuff like that for all axis. dont know, will try again later, when I get home. cheers -
Alternate 6dof Head Tracking with FaceTrackNoIR
fael097 replied to jireland607's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
glad to hear that wim :) -
I already broke a microsoft webcam trying to remove the IR filter. apparently I did nothing wrong, but when I plugged the camera, I would show me only green/magenta. no tones or variations, but only these two colors, so yeah, It's broken. after that I gave up on removing IR filters. I also did the floppy disk thing, but not much success. so I bought an eyecam, made a nice 3 point clip, but with red leds. and honestly? not good. it won't keep track of points all the time, it disconnects now and then. after a while i got it stable, but the tracking isnt smooth enough to keep the camera pointing steady somewhere, steady enough to click switches, etc. so i gave up on that. waiting on FTnoIR, but currently i cant get it working in warthog.

lol face tracking is much more stable than dots tracking. my face never disconnects, while point tracking deppends on angle, ambient light, direct sight to light bulbs, sun, any other stuff about the retarded hat, I agree with him, and its not about the hat, I believe having to put anything in your head just to play a sim is retarded.

wow, thanks! and no, not at all, information is never too much I'll get a linear 100k pt and see how it goes. but since you seem to understand about this subject, let me ask you one last thing I used a dual pot to hook up a 5v supply to my leds, and control its brightness, and in the second pole I connected the pot to the axis input in my usb board. however, that way, my leds are always on, so I bought a pot with a switch. unfortunately I didn't find a dual pot with a switch, so I was wondering if hooking both 5v and axis input to the same pole on the pot will damage it? cheers -
indeed I do! unfortunately I still didn't figure out a way to make that switch guard. I'm considering materials, perhaps aluminium, not sure yet. but yeah, that pic you posted of the real laste panel helped me with the labels as you can see ;) now srsly, It's looking good for something hand made with basic tools, isn't it?!
-
I'm not sure if it's a waste, because I never used it. all I know is that i really don't like the idea of always playing in the dark, with something attached to your head, and also I dont have 150 bucks to give on that. but I also know that I never managed to have FTnoIR working great with the warthog. do you use ppjoy for BS? any users doing good with ftnoir and warthog?

god, how I hate the shore first mission. despite the fact that it's bugged, I've been trying to complete it for the last week. did some tries that all f-16 and f-15s got killed, but what makes me more pissed is the fact that i cant save the mission, turn off my computer, and continue later from where i stopped. could this please be considered?

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
fael097 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
anything that can shot a mig 29 down. TIRED of being killed by russians in a-10c. -
the shore mission 1 AI - broken first mission on the shore campaign - 2 f-16's take off, fly a few miles into the ocean, then turn right, and when you think they'll violently strike down a russian base close to bullseye, they shot a couple mavs, and get killed by sams instantly. not to mention they fly really close to the ground (sea in that case). kamikaze attack? flying to death, call it whatever you want. also, the 6 f-15's fly into the mig 29s, they have a hard time doing 6x2 (often 3 f15s get killed before taking down 2 migs) and before the other migs take off, they return to the tanker. apparently, they simply ignore the migs, after they're airborn, leaving the migs free to hunt down my squadron. but the worst part, is when they go back to refuel, all f15s in line to fill up, a remaining mig followed them all the way, and take down all of them, they dont even respond, apparently they're too busy waiting for refuel. :helpsmilie:

so sweet! but I was expecting opinions, like I forgot the switch guard, or letters sucks real bad ;)
-
wow, thanks for the comments!

I can tell you, I cleaned everything, then downloaded 1.1.0.8 retail, then re-installed DX and C++ and that didn't help

almost forgot. for the backlighting on my laste panel, I've put a simple on/off rocker switch. nothing fancy, and it doesn't control the lights in game. I was planning on using a dual pot w/ switch, so I could put that into the illumination panel later, but I didn't find any. I was wondering if it's possible to use a single pole switch to control a button, and also hook a 5v supply to it at the same time, same pole. is it? will it damage my board?

about what to do next, I have a few things in mind: -rudders, with metal bars, but that would require an usb interface with better axis support, such as leo bodnars', so not sure. -wooden structure for side consoles, I have the project, just need to buy and cut some wood, but I don't have plenty of room in my apartment -throttles and throttle quadrant panel, I also have the model, but need to figure out what material to use to make the throttles, and make a project on where to put rotation axis for throttles, how to make them, position potentiometers, etc etc.... (need usb with axis too) -hotas stick, but that I don't know, I'll probably have to use the plastic of an old joystick, and put buttons an switches on it, so... (need usb with axis also) -or another panel. my list of panels to do right now: sas, aap, electrical, fscp, lights panel, or the UFC. for the lights panel, I'd need axis again, and also to try lua scripts for controlling knobs on virtual cockpit with pots. so yeah, I'm leaning to the wooden pit. just have to find where to put it in my room :P
