Okay! Got it! Didn't know what a 7Z file was. Zip file (smacks side of head). Used Cloud Converter to make it into a Rar file and I was in familiar territory. Thank you!

Thank you! I'll give it a try and report back....

Suntsag, I downloaded your mission but I couldn't figure how to open or install it. The download gave me several options I am unfamiliar with. Can you post some instructions (Prestwick For Dummies)? Thanks.
-
Sukebe, you are missing the point entirely. Sure, you can modify the late war German planes and dumb them down. But in a sim in which the planes are so accurate, what have you gained by having to neuter them? You've switched from simmer to gamer. Accuracy should be the ONLY goal in a sim.

Aha! Gav is back! Hey, Gav! I gotta agree with Gav. I can't imagine what DCS was thinking matching mid-war Allied fighters with late war German. The A8 is the only historically correct match-up we have. Accuracy in the plane builds is great but what's the point when the match-ups are all wrong? This is also why I avoid online (MP) flying in DCS. S!

Finally gave up, tossed DCS off my internal hard drive and downloaded DCS to my external solid state drive and TIR now likes the Spit again. Can't explain it but it's working again. Thanks ManOWar. S! HT

Really odd problem. Maybe I neglected to click or check a box somewhere? Swapped out my controllers. Got everything back together and TrackIR doesn't work on the Spitfire. Works fine on P-51 and F-86 but not on the Spit. Swapped out drivers. Nada. Looked everywhere for a box to check or a switch to flip. Nada. The TrackIR column appears on the controls page so it appears DCS sees TrackIR but it isn't connecting. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Poll: 'E' armament Option for LF. IX
HotTom replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Yes. E wing looks exactly like C wing: http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/sorting-out-the-e-american-armament-for-the-spitfire-mk-ixxvi.html -
Similar problem here. I request the offered update. It gets as far as verifying my installed version and the computer freezes. I get an error message that says: system can't find bin DCS exe.: (2) I tried deleting my installation and reloading it. Still have the same problem in updating. I'm using a solid state hard drive. This needs fixing. Here's my log: 00000.000 === Log opened UTC 2018-08-24 01:44:53 00000.013 INFO : DCS_Updater/2.9.4.76 (Windows NT 10.0.17134; Win64; en-US) 00000.013 INFO : cmdline: "E:\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" --apply update C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS\update_info.json 2.5.2.20601 00000.015 STATUS: Initializing... 00000.019 INFO : basedir: E:\DCS World 00000.025 INFO : DCS/2.5.2.19682 (x86_64; EN; WORLD,WWII-ARMOUR,SPITFIRE-MKIX,F-86F,UH-1H,A-10C,P-51D,SPITFIRE-MKIX-OPERATIONEPSOM_campaign,NORMANDY_terrain,NEVADA_terrain) 00000.025 INFO : branch: 00001.491 INFO : Got reply from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com 00001.495 STATUS: Verifying cached version info... 00002.296 STATUS: Verifying installed files... spit has no motion feed to motion setups
HotTom replied to adrianstealth's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Aha:pain: If he had said "buttkicker" I would have understood him. One of those destroyed a perfectly good desk chair. Thanks. -
This is loooong overdue. Just a button that allows the QM user to choose eras would be useful and highly welcome. Oh, and it's raccoon, not racoon. Two cs.

spit has no motion feed to motion setups
HotTom replied to adrianstealth's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
OK. I'll bite.... What is "motion feed"? I tried to look it up and the term seems to only apply to subwoofers and duck decoys :smartass: -
DCS 2.5.0.14304 NTTR night scenes are terrible.
HotTom replied to DaveRindner's topic in Object Bugs
Sorry, mate but deferred shading is a no-go for me. If I run in HDR, I get a solid 60 FPS. Switch to DS and it drops to 30. Graphics look fine in HDR (yeah, the trees are too 2D) in 2.5. If 2.5 was built around DS, it is (for me) a very shaky foundation. I'm perfectly happy with HDR. I only fly the prop jobs so I haven't experienced the night sky. -
Few Questions About "Boom and Zoom" Attacks in a P-51
HotTom replied to SharkBait's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
The fellow who taught me BnZ in an SE5a in a long ago WWI flight sim, said (over and over) "Softee, softee catchee monkey." It's about patience. It's about gaining an altitude advantage and using it. Usually with repeat passes. It really should be called "Boom and run away" Don't zoom. EXTEND! Use the speed you gained in your dive to get out of range, reverse and climb gradually while keeping as much of your energy as possible. Gradually (!) trade that speed for altitude only after you are safely away. Then do it again. Wash, rinse and repeat. Rule #1 in Dicta Boelcke: Always attack from a position of advantage. Or as SE5a ace Mick Mannock put it: "Always from above, seldom from equal altitude and never from below." Softee. softee catchee monkey.... -
(Pounds head against brick wall) Of course! Thank you very much, Newy!

Okay, I'm old and my brain is slowing down but damned if I can figure out how to purchase the Epsom campaign. Here is the page I am lead to: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/spitfire_operation_epsom_campaign/ I don't see any button that says "buy" or "purchase." What am I missing?

why should the stick be held backward during taxi?
HotTom replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Good explanation, Orso, and it makes sense (as much sense as British engineering ever makes sense). Would also request devs to confirm it actually is modeled. -
Ah, OK, I didn't understand your comment. Here ya go, from 1949:
