Haven't checked the track but I did the first two Argo missions today and the FM homing worked fine. Did you have the dial set to Home (last on right) when trying it? If you have it set to T/R it won't work. Once I put mine to Home I could pick it up from far away in both missions.

Have a look through the key command list. Most likely explanation is that you've accidentally assigned a HOTAS button to it or it was assigned automatically by DCS. Usually when I get a new module I make sure to clear out all the commands from joystick, throttle and rudder pedals and then build them from scratch to avoid weird things happening.

Currently I've got a overclocked 3770k and 1080 card. I do plan to upgrade but planning to wait a bit longer. If I got a Rift S now would my system be able to handle DCS ok? I just play single player so don't mind making some settings sacrifices. I tried VR briefly before and found that I didn't have any issues once FPS was around 40.

I got the VKB Gunfighter + extension recently and it's great. Now I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to set it up as a centre mounted stick. Was looking at either the wheel stand pro or monstertech's long version table mount. Has anybody used the Gunfighter with a wheel stand pro? Looking at their website the mounting plate holes won't match up it seems as it's only for the Warthog and Saitek stuff. I guess that it could be mounted with a bit of DIY but I'm not the handiest so was wondering what other people might have done? Also can the stand be set low enough in order that the stick + extension is at the correct height compared to how it is in real life where the pilot seems to rest his arm on his thigh? With the monstertech long version table mount it looks like it has to extend quite a distance out from the desk to allow to for the throw of the stick with extension. And I assume that you have to also sit back a bit to allow for the stick to be pulled back the full way without hitting the chair. It seems like it'd be a bit tricky to get the stick at the real life height and not end up having to sit way back from the desk?

DCS: F-14 Air to Air Refueling Tutorial
Foul Ole Ron replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
To enter the TACAN you have to go a different tab in that menu. Click on the Triggered Actions tab that's 2 to the right of the Route tab - the one that looks like a bit like an X. Click Add -> Perform Command -> Activate TACAN and enter in the TACAN details there - I think you'll be able to find them then in game. If you look at the mission I sent you earlier you can see the setup I did there. -
Can also just ask Jester to tune to whatever you're trying to connect to. I find that easier as you can stay heads up and don't have to fiddle with anything.

DCS: F-14 Air to Air Refueling Tutorial
Foul Ole Ron replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Here's a quick one I made last week which will show you the correct setup for CVN and Tanker radio & TACAN. Also once you get Jester to tune to the Tanker radio channel make sure you're using the VHF/UHF radio communication button when trying to talk to the Tanker. You can map the button from the controls to your HOTAS. Persian Gulf F-14B CVN Cold Start.miz -

You'd just set the tanker frequency to 075. No need to set yours to that frequency too (or I assume you'd hear all the tanker radio chatter). Then to set the tanker Tacan go to the X tab two to the right of the default tab and in the dropdown actions there should be one for Tacan activation and you can set the Tacan number for the tanker. -

It'll depend on what the mission creator has the tanker Tacan set to so could be anything from 01-99. You'll probably see it in the briefing section you get before the mission loads. The tanker radio and Tacan settings are usually given there. You can also just use Jester to tune to the tanker Tacan and radio for you rather than do it manually. Open Jester and go to radio and TAC radio and you should see the tanker radio frequency there - select that and Jester will tune the VHF/UHF radio to that. Then open Jester again and go to Navigation, Tacan and tune TAC Tacan and you should see the tanker Tacan as an option there. Select that and then select Tacan on the right STEERING CMD panel (the one that has the options TACAN, DEST, AWL/PCD, VEC & MAN) and you'll see it come up on your HSD in a couple of seconds. Jester will automatically handle setting the Tacan to A/A for you so it hooks up to an airborne target. -
Gunfighter Mk.II + SCG [Availability]
Foul Ole Ron replied to Hummingbird's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
One would think they could make more money if they could manufacture faster and produce more stock as I'm sure some people get tired of waiting and go elsewhere. But to keep their costs down the manufacturing is done in China and they get better rates I'm sure when they get a large batch done. Might be difficult for them to get a manufacturer to do small runs. All that being said it's a bit frustrating to have to wait nearly 5 months to hopefully get your order completed. They seem to have issues estimating when they will get their production runs done as when I ordered in Oct. they were estimating January. Now it's hopefully Mar 7th but that first batch will only cover half of the orders. The other half will have to wait a couple of weeks apparently but I'd probably file that under "we'll see" for now. -
Gunfighter Mk.II + SCG [Availability]
Foul Ole Ron replied to Hummingbird's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Mar 7th is when the next batch will be shipped. I had to order back on October 23rd, 2018 to hopefully be in this batch (that's not even guaranteed it seems). My guess is that if you wanted to get a Gunfighter Mk.II they won't open pre-orders again for a while as they have to clear all the current backlog and you'd probably be lucky to get it towards the end of 2019. -
Unfortunately not it seems. Latest update on VKB Europe site is that an initial batch will now be delivered on Mar 7th. This initial batch won't cover all the orders so if you're not in that batch the date for the second batch is unknown.
-
In the Europe shop the stick extension is listed as out of stock. When the Gunfighter Mk.II comes back into stock on 25/02 (hopefully) will stick extensions be possible to order again too? Or should we go hunting it elsewhere?
-
So we're approaching mid-February and will soon be 4 months on from the order dates back in October. Any idea if this date is going to hold or is it going to slip again?
-
It's a miracle the USAF were able to shoot down any Migs in Korea if the Sabre's guns were really like this..
-
Was looking to get the T-50 base for a centre mount setup but if it's gone out of stock again will there be anything similar coming in any reasonable time frame or would I be as well off just going with the warthog?

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Foul Ole Ron replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
When it comes to modern stuff I stick to the PFM/ASM planes. For WW2 planes I would prefer full PFM/ASM but I would absolutely buy planes that didn't have ASM. There's not a massive amount of stuff to press and I have virtually all of it mapped to my HOTAS. If there was an option to get my hands on a WW2 plane with just PFM that might or might not be upgraded later to the full model I'd still go for it. I might be a bit more selective about what I would buy compared to the full modelsv but if it got the whole WW2 environment fleshed out a bit more quickly I think it'd be worth it. Anyway when it comes to the Mossie I'm in no matter what. -
SAITEK X55-Rhino Device Profile for F/A-18C HOTAS
Foul Ole Ron replied to BiBa's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
You've got TDC in the same place that I do. One thing you can do is make it an 8 way button so you can get diagonal movement with the Hat if you want. To get diagonal up/right go into the advanced commands and in the repeat box input the command for TDC up and then TDC right and then right click and set quantitize time to 0). Then repeat this for down/right, etc. You can then slew the TDC diagonally. -
Can't check the tracks at the moment but do you have the master arm on, A/A mode selected and guns selected?
-
In that documentary Jetstream the IPs mention "walking the throttle" a few times so it sounds like it's done. Don't think it's really necessary with the F-18 we have - I was hopeless at AAR in the A-10 but about an hour practice in the F-18 was enough to be able to do full top ups in one go so it must be pretty easy.
-
I think I was wrong about the anti-skid actually. Did some take-off and traps just there and NWS HI would engage with anti-skid off. I did have an issue before where NWS HI wouldn't engage and I was sliding around on the carrier when trying to move to the catapult area. Flicking the anti-skid switch on seemed to fix it but must've been something else going on - probably I dropped the launch bar by accident as that definitely prevents you from going into NWS HI per NATOPS: 2.10.2 If the launch bar is extended, nosewheel steering is disengaged, however, the low mode may be engaged by pressing and holding the nosewheel steering button.
-
Also anti skid needs to be on if you want NWS HI to work. You might have it turned off if launching off the carrier.

I use the X-55 - have pitch/roll set to 15, rudder set to 25 and a deadzone of 2 for all three. I use those settings for pretty much all planes in DCS. Personally I'd try avoiding to put too much of a curve on pitch & roll as it will make the zone nearer to full deflection a bit tricky to control but best thing is to just experiment and see what suits your taste.

Saitek X55 - Hornet Speed Brake - SBK Switch
Foul Ole Ron replied to VJS161_Hawk's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Crash Laobi had a YouTube video on this: -
I made a quick one for the X-55. Mode 1 is for A/A and Mode 2 is for ground/take-off/landing. Mode 3 I'll make for A/G later but right now it's just a copy of Mode 1. Probably needs some tweaking as I haven't done a lot of stuff with the hornet yet apart from practicing landings and AAR. You'll have to put in some extra keyboard commands to match what I entered for all the buttons to work. Attached the .pro and the keyboard commands list I use. Edit - attaching updated version with trim corrected. FA-18C_hornet v2.rar
