  1. Hi All, First, let me say that I’m a happy Warthog HOTAS user. However, recently my Warthog Stick gimbal has been playing up in the sense that it sticks when pushing forward. I can’t be bothered to take it apart and had a look inside which is why I’m wondering if it’s worth directly replacing it with the VPC/Virpil WRDBird base? From the videos I’ve seen, it looks to be of better quality internally but I’d like to know if it ‘feels’ better. I know it’s subjective but I’m interested in the general consensus Thanks!
  2. Yea, weirdly enough after a couple of restart I attempted to just restore from the recycle bin but just appeared. I'll rename them to *.old when I re-enable the mod
  3. Turning on INST or PANEL lights also turns on FLOOD lights Hi All, After updating to the latest stable build (non-beta), I've noticed that when turning the cockpit knobs for the PANEL and INST lights also turns on the Flood lights. Is anyone else having this issue? Cheers!
  4. I've uninstalled the mod to get the latest updates and after launching DCS on all terrains I have, there's no 'dcs' folder in any of the C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\*TERRAIN*\misc\metacache folders. The weird thing is that I'm able to launch into the cockpit though. Have I uninstalled the mod correctly? I just deleted the ~dcs folder during the removal..
  5. As an FYI in case any wants to do that same thing as me, the F18 has a bunch of axis controls but specifically the ones I'm interested in are the left & right DDI brightness controls as well as the instrument and consoles panel lights To test before I pulled the plug on a Bodnar board and a bunch of pots, I tried mapping the TM Warthog throttle feux tension/resistance lever to a few axis' and they worked a treat!
  6. Hi All, Apologies if this has been asked already but I'm trying to figure out if linear pots will work with DCS? Specifically, I already have 4 rotary encoders that I'm using for panel/MFD brightness on the F18 but their lack of proper control (spinning the encoder quickly sometimes fails to register properly in game) and the fact that you can keep spinning them are starting to annoy me. I understand that you have to use pots as an axis control but the question is, does DCS have the correct axis assignment options? Has anyone used pots to control things like panel brightness before? I fly mainly in VR and pots over rotary encoders would enable just a little bit more tactility Thanks!
  7. Whilst I think it'll be fun to try out the use of touch controllers, I think long term I'll still be using my TM Warthog. I'm more interested in the 'Optimised VR performance'; I wonder if this means they'll be incorporating some sort of official shader mod or some other improvements/goodies. Also, there's no mention of a release date, unless these have gone out/going out with the next open beta?
  8. I've manage to get my 3930k to 4.8Ghz with relative ease; I haven't touched any voltage settings yet am able to get the high OC by simply changing the multiplier across all cores to 48. Thats the only thing I've touched apart from setting the XMP profile I've checked CPU-Z, Core Temp etc and they're all reporting the same 4.8Ghz, does anyone know if this is a mistake? The reason I ask is that all the posts online about the same CPU and mobo combo (Asus R4E) struggle to get up to 4.4-4Ghz range.
  9. I'd say if you can afford them, go for the TM Pendular pedals. I got mine the other day direct from TM (had a huge 23% off Black Friday sale) and couldn't be happier with them. They're expensive (even on sale) but when compared to what I previously had (TM T-flight), its a night and day difference and worth the money
  10. Thanks for the heads up, I’ve been waiting to see if Black Friday impacted the Pendular pedals on Amazon but so far nothing so this is a great find!
  11. Good point. I'll order them and see what happens
  12. Long story short, I currently have a set of quad channel 16GB Corsair 1866Mhz ram that has served me well up to now. As I fly mostly in VR, I'm looking to eek every last drop out of my system before I pull the plug on a new 9900k build some time early next year. Really, it boils down to this; will my Asus Rampage iv Extreme support a Corsair Platinum 16GB quad channel set thats advertised to run at 2400Mhz? I know I'll have to use XMP and thats fine, but before I take the plunge on a second hand kit on eBay, I want to know if it'll work in my setup. According to Asus, the R4E does support memory at 2400Mhz but I'm wondering if the 3930k will? I have overclocked the CPU to 4.6Ghz so bear that in mind. I'm looking to gain a few additional FPS from my 1080ti. Thanks
  13. Not quite sure who that's intended at as the OP has had his own questions answered and I didn't ask any...
  14. I currently run 1866Mhz DDR3 with a 2080ti and get about 45fps when using my Oculus with a PD OF 2.0. I did think about but a whole new rig to get some faster DDR4 ram but so far no one has been able to convince me (I’m not even looking for much convincing to be honest) it’s a wise move
  15. Well, I was able to use XMP to OC the ram to the stated speed! I had a quick free flight over Caucasus and I don't think I noticed too much of a difference. Still getting a steady 45 fps when flying 400ft off the ground in between the trees. To be honest, not entirely sure what I was expecting, its +~300Mhz after all! :) I have been thinking about putting together a new 9900k build with 32GB DDR4 4000Mhz RAM to compliment the 2080Ti as I was thinking the CPU, RAM and MoBo would create some kind of bottle neck. With the current fps I'm getting though, I'm in two minds about spending £1700+ for seemingly not much gain which is why I mentioned buying a replacement 2400Mhz DDR3 kit for my current setup. I do drop down to ~30-35 when dog fighting < 2000ft I'll admit but I'm running a PD of 2.0 with most settings on High (inc. shadows) and using Kegetys' shaders mod; I don't know where we'd be without that mod.
  16. Nope, I'm not using XMP. Should I try that? Do you think the extra 300Mhz will help in VR? I'm currently thinking about buying a 16GB 2400Mhz kit to help out (somewhat) with FPS. At the current rate, I'll literally take any FPS increase I can get! :)
  17. Hi All, I've managed to OC my CPU (3930k) to 4.7Ghz which I'm happy with but I'm having trouble with my RAM. I have 16GB (4x4gb) Corsair DDR3 1866Mhz sticks and without touching any of the UFEI RAM setting, the default freq. of the RAM is around 1500Mhz. Needless to say, when I try and bump up the freq. to the 'level up' the DRAM setting in the UFEI to 1865Mhz, the PC posts but fails to boot into Windows. Does anyone know how I can stabilise the RAM? Shall I boost the voltage? I find it a little strange that I'm unable to attain even the advertised speed of the RAM Thanks!
  18. Interesting. How do you set the LEDs? I didn’t even know they were LEDs...
  19. Great, thanks Andre! Roughly how long is delivery to the UK?
  20. This has probably been mentioned in another post somewhere but does the GameTrix KW-908 work for the DCS F-18? I see screenshots of the 'SimShaker for Aviators' listing other aircraft/modules but not the F-18? Also. I'm thinking of buying one regardless, where is the best place to do so? I take it I also need to buy the 'SimShaker for Aviators' app/license? Thanks!
  21. Yup, that seems to have been the issue; my TM MFDs were mapped to the throttle and stick axis for some reason. One thing I've noticed about the "Synchronize Cockpit Controls..." on startup is that whilst it does activate the 2-pos switches in the sense that I don't have to cycle them for DCS to recognise their inputs, the mapped/associated cockpit switch doesn't reflect that of the 2-pos. To put simply, if the Fuel Flow ENG L 2-pos is down on my TM Warthog, the Master Arm in the Hornet (which I've mapped it) is set to ARM when I start the game (which it shouldn't; it should be set to SAFE which would reflect the TM WH). What else am I missing? Here's what I've got so far {down = gear_commands.HookHandle, up = gear_commands.HookHandle, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Custom Arresting Hook Handle UP/DOWN'), category = {_('Right Vertical Panel'), _('Custom')}}, {down = SMS_commands.MasterArmSw, up = SMS_commands.MasterArmSw, cockpit_device_id = devices.SMS, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Custom Master Arm Switch - ARM'), category = {_('Instrument Panel'), _('Master Arm Panel')}}, {down = gear_commands.LaunchBarSw, up = gear_commands.LaunchBarSw, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Custom Launch Bar Control Switch - EXTEND/RETRACT'), category = {_('Left Vertical Panel')}},
  22. Thanks LeCuvier. Turning on "Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start" worked for the 'maintained 2-position switch' (which I imagine a lot of people, myself included, would have to google to realise I mean a toggle switch) issue I was having but there's a weird bug with the TM WH stick when doing so. After hitting the 'Finish' button/un-pausing after loading a mission, the plane immediately sharply veers to the left without an stick input from myself and also seemingly being in the 'dead' zone. Needless to say this caused a bit of panic the first time I tried the above changes as I did so with my Rift on :)
  23. Hi All, I've been playing around with the default.lua file of the F-18 to detect the 'off' position when a toggle switch on the TM Warthog throttle (specifically the 'Fuel Flow ENG L' toggle) is set to off/override on the physical switch. I want to use the toggle switch to map to the F-18's hook up/down switch. So far I've been able to get it to recognise the 'off'/override setting on the TM Warthog but only after physically toggling the ENG L Fuel Flow switch from off to on first. Only then does it work Here's what I've done in the default.lua: { down = gear_commands.HookHandle, up = gear_commands.HookHandle, cockpit_device_id = devices.GEAR_INTERFACE, value_down = 1.0, value_up = 0.0, name = _('Arresting Hook Handle - Down'), category = {_('Right Vertical Panel')}} Does anyone know how to change the .lua file so that when I start DCS in the F18, it recognises the position of the switch on the TM Warthog instantly (ie flipping the toggle to 'off'/fuel flow override causes the hook to drop without having to cycle the toggle)? Thanks
  24. What about RAM? With a new build I have lined up, I thinking of installing 2x 8GB DDR4 4000Mhz Corsair sticks. I’m assuming there’d be an increase of some sort noticed since I’d be coming from currently using 16GB DDR3 at 1600Mhz?
  25. Exactly what I did
