Thought I'd add my two cents. I bought the Samsung Odyssey about 6 months ago from Amazon.com (live in the UK and can't get it this side of the pond). After waiting a week or so I was pumped to finally crack open the box, install WMR and SteamVR etc and fire it up. Like yourself and others, I immediately had double vision; I cannot express how many hours I spent trying to rectify the issue (uninstalling drivers, DCS, wiping temp settings, profiles etc) to no avail. The issue only occurred in DCS. Eventually I cut my losses and sent it back and decided to live with the Rift CV1 and its relatively low res. Needless to say I was excited to hear about the Reverb when it was announced and after monitoring the forums on here and other places, decided to place an order (again on amazon.com) for the second gen headset when it became available last week. I was pretty nervous to be honest as like the Odyssey, the Reverb is a WMR/SteamVR headset so was anxious to know if it I'd run into the same cross-eyed problems again. Well, after cracking open the box and again going through the motions of setting up the software, I was pleasantly surprised by the cross-eyed issue not rearing its ugly head. Its important to note here that my PC hasn't changed at all; the hardware is the same as when I tried the Odyssey Basically, thats my rather long winded way of saying that I firmly believe this issue is headset related and not caused any software. Sure, there may be software related issues but as far as I can work out, they haven't been able to totally fix the issue. My advice would be to send back the headset and get another one.

+1 on that, would be awesome to get my paws on them :)

Hmm I don’t think that’s the case as DCS is still the focal app when I take the headset off. I just had a little flight this morning before work and noticed that the control of the mouse etc comes back once I turn back on one of the Reverb controllers so it seems somewhat related? Is there a way to not need the controls for mouse etc input?

I think I’ve got another issue in addition to what people have noted here. After about 15 mins of flying around, I hear the windows disconnect sound and I’m not able to use the mouse nor my HOTAS for input in VR. When I take my headset off though, I’m able to see the mouse moving around and can use it to click options. Any idea what’s going on?

Never mind, found the issue with the indicator flag in the settings file. Mods, please delete

Hi All, I recently got my Reverb, and so far so good; I’ve been using it for about an hour and cannot notice any major issues that were reported with the gen 1 headsets (I’m pretty sure mine is a gen two as I ordered it from Amazon US last week after they had a restock). However, after messing around with the vr settings file I think I’ve come across something weird going on. When I put the headset on I notice a weird ‘thing’ in the top left corner of my peripheral when I enable motion smoothing. It almost looks like a logo or a ray of light coming through but when I start to look at the image, it moves and I can’t focus on it. Any one know what this is? The problem goes away when I turn off motion smoothing weirdly enough

Awesome, thanks!

After reading the responses here, I think I'd agree with the majority of whats been said. I play almost exclusively in SP which I think it leading somewhat to the frustration and perhaps boredom I'm experiencing. I'm going to to give MP a go soon, will probably try and find a wingman/RIO to fly with which will hopefully increase my enjoyment levels. Saying that however, I did give the Fox Two mission a go (Sidewinders only) last night and without being so heavy handed with the controls, I did have a lot of fun. I ordered the VFX grip from Virpil when it was available for pre-order and I'm hoping to pair it with their new T50CM2 base as I'm currently using their WarBRD with a 10cm extension and finding the lack of resistance/tension rather annoying with a jet that I can't 'yank and bank'. Hopefully both of these when they arrive will further add to my enjoyment Thanks all!

Hi All, In a post regarding his impressions of the HP Reverb, Wags mentioned that he was going to have the developers start working on building out native WMR support within DCS (ie remove the need to rely on SteamVR for WMR headsets). Just curious is there's an update on this at all? Cheers

You’re probably right in the sense that I’d implicitly praising HB and the FM they created but tbf, I think it is warranted praise :)

Let me preface this by saying nothing I'm writing below is a result of HB's implementation of the F-14; I think they did a wonderful job on almost every aspect (weathered cockpit aside ;) ) and I love that we finally have a 'cat to roam the skies in DCS with. After building a VR pit for use almost exclusively with the F-18, I'm having a lot of fun in that bird. This is even more the case with the introduction of the TPOD a few weeks ago. However, I must confess I'm a little disappointed with the F-14 because I just don't know what to do with her. Sure, I can fly around a bit, fly off the deck of a carrier and catch some traps (admittedly I need a lot of time to improve), get in a knife fight with a few F-16s and F-18s etc but what else aside from that? I think I'm comfortable flying an aircraft with avionics that I can interact with myself (I'm missing the MFDs you'd find in the F-14D I gusss) but having said that, I get a blast from flying the F-5E down low of the ranges of Nevada; why don't I feel the same in the Tomcat? After spending some time thinking about it the past couple of nights, I think its down to several things: 1) I can't 'yank and bank' - unlike in other aircraft (again, F-18 and F-5E) I can't just yank the stick and hold it there, in the 'cat I'm constantly looking at the AOA indicator and looking for violent vibrations in the air frame for indications as to when I'm getting into trouble. 2) The 'HUD' - I get that its been replicated authentically and the replication has only mimicked constraints of the time (ie low refresh rate, lack of 'useful' information that you'd in many modern HUDs) but I still not able to enjoy it. I appreciate a lot of what I'm writing may be unpopular but its just the way I feel and to be honest, I'm not sure what kind of response/reply I'm after - just thought I'd put my thoughts down on paper. Cheers!

Is this still for sale?

Interesting. Couple of questions: 1) Why SteamVR Beta? 2) I’m also coming from the Rift S, is the clarity/resolution as good as people say? Is the FoV difference felt much? 3) Who or what is fpsVR? :)

I've got my Reverb hopefully arriving next week. How do I set it up? I understand I have to install SteamVR (should I go for the beta version) but is that it?

Just wondering if its possible to use a spring loaded axis input (like on an Xbox controller for example) to control the external view? As far as I can work out, only the mouse can control the external view which is fine when I'm at at my desk but when using an Xbox One controller (which I'll be doing when I move my current PC to the lounge for some casual flying), I can't bind the external panning view to the right thumb stick. Anyone know if its possible to do it? I think this would also have to include the 'default' view as being behind the aircraft once the thumb stick is returned to the neutral position which I don't think can currently be set?

Hi All, Long story short, I bought a full set (L, R and centre) of TM MFD/Cougar panel mounts but ended up not needing them so they have to go. They're in 'as new' condition and have sat in the box since they arrived on my doorstep. I'm asking £70 inc postage & paypal fees which I feel is a decent price; I think the full set + shipping goes for around £115 when purchased direct from Monstertech. No joints are included in the sale but the mounting hardware is (not pictured) Will post to the EU & the US put shipping will be an extra £10 Cheers

Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Pack - LCD Home Edition
obious replied to Speedbird696's topic in Thrustmaster
I have two 7” displays arriving next week hopefully as the 8” I’m using I find is far too big for the TM MFDs. How well do the 7” screens fit? -

Hi All, Just putting this question out there in anticipation of the F16 entering EA, has anyone made a 3D model for the F-16s ICP similar to what was done for the F18? I’ve found a few ICPs online made by a few folk but I’m not paying around $500+ for it :) Cheers

Hi All, I've recently started to build a non-VR cockpit as I think the idea of using TM MFDs on top of small panels to mimic cockpit instruments 'in real life' is pretty awesome. I've been able to export the F18's DDIs with relative ease but am curious to know if we'll be able to export the F16's CMFDs right from the get-go/upon early access release or we'll have to wait a while like we did with the F18? Cheers

Question about JDAM coordinates vs HSI Precision
obious replied to neversaykever's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
So the question is, why would anyone DDM rather than DMS? This is even more the case when waypoint designating targets rather than using the UFC for coord input -
LGBs and the TGP - Firing the laser after or before pickle?
obious replied to obious's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Is there currently a bug with the LGBs when using the TGP? I've tried a few times just now and only 1 out of about 5 LGBs hit their intended target, all the rest just over shot! Anyone experiencing the same? -
Interesting, I’ve always been curious about pulling the trigger on one of his seats. How much does the seat add to immersion?

LGBs and the TGP - Firing the laser after or before pickle?
obious replied to obious's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Ahh that makes a lot of sense, thanks! Do you know if we’ll be getting a TTI notification for JDAMs at all?
