Purchase the web version (download only). Then there is "No CD" at all in the literal sense (unless you burn a backup of the download).

Ground targets wont lock on you becuase they are AI and have more sense to fire on a friendly target. Other humans in multiplayer, well, they are likely to do the opposite. It's useful to know when someone locks you up or paints you, enemy or not. You can then tell them buddy spike, only for them to ignore the message and shot anyway. Basically ground units wont show up because they are not looking for you (assume IFF working), friendly aircraft, mostly humans will lock you up. Edit, basically what Nate said. (posted at same time)

New eMagin Z800 HMD SDK and Demo Unit Opportunity

Whos this targetted at? I think you need to contac tthe developers to see if they want to include support for the device. It's nothing us meer mortal users can include. -
Rich, do you ever make a post without making reference to a track or tutorial you wrote? :)

Evil, you will be able to cut down on laser over heating by turning the laser on only when you need it. The laer is not required to lock on to targets, only needed when weapon is in flight. In your list I would turn laser on after point 8. This saves time = cooler laser = more time with laser on when its required allowing more guidance time. Remember to turn laser off after weapon has hit and you are flying away from target, this will also assist with preventing overheating. Also knokussion, naval targets will require maximum target size (like buildings).

It's bound not to, thats what the system does, gets like a "finger print" of your hardware, if it changes, then the code is no longer valid (well it is valid for your other system, but your system has now changed). Thats why you get 15 chances, 15 changes in hardware is a lot. I imagine if you can prove your circumstances, ED will issue more codes. It's just that many people moan about only having 15 "keys" but realistically 15 is more than enough. As I said earlier, I have used just 2 keys and installed 3 times. Future installations will not use up my keys (unless I modify my PC).

Don't think it matters, if you turn mercury on, you get the display anyway. But if you turn on shkval, you get normal view, turning on mercuray will switch it to that mode. (do whatever you need to do to get the IR view). You dont really need the mercury unless its dark. Dont farget target designator size (about 5 or 10 for ground vehicles will do). You will also need to ground stabalise first. Why dont you run through the tutorial flights again - they can show you and explain better than we can in a forum.

I was online in an A-10, suffered two SAM hits, very badly damaged. One engine out, leaking fuel, hydralics and HUD gone. Dodgey aileron - I needed alomst full left stick to remain straight, and I assume the rudder had gone since no input on the pedals made a difference. I fought the plane all the way back to within 5 miles of home plate, over mountians and manageing to remain out of sight frmo enemy fighters. Just decalred finals, got locked up. Buddy Spike I type about 3 times, "Friendly" I typed twice. The F-15 unlocked me. Continued to airfield, 3 seconds later "BOOM", that F-15 hit me with a sidewinder. So the 8 minute challenge I flew back to base (and was looking forwards to an interesting landing) was ruined by some fool in an Eagle, who simply declared, "OOPS I just hit a friendly". I was a little pi$$ed, but crap happens. (don't worry, I have remembered your name - you got my twice that mission).

That is likely a system based issue by the sounds of it. Only ever used 2 activation of my download. You can write down the code that you use to unlock the install, and use that code for future installs. You are unlikely to install it on different 15 PCs in the life of the software.

Either (or both of the above) you could always shoot them first :)
-
You could always download it on day of release, faster than any shipping. (After thought) Before any one accuses me of piracy, I mean buying and downloading from ED's website.

From the website There is a digging championship as well? Reminds me of the old maths questions, if one man can dig a hole in 2 days, how long does it take for 2 Su27 pilots to dig a hole?

New 1.2 Screen Shots - 10 March 06

I am sure that Russian pilots are not super human and have to learn every taxiway and runway on all airfields they are likely to land at. There must be something (other than follow me trucks) to show them where to go. But follo wme trucks would be an interesting mod, hopefully stopping all the fools using taxiways as runways, and pulling out halfway along a runway when someone is taking off/landing. -
Su25T has strobing external lights, other aircraft don't. YOu just need to mash the Ctrl+L button to get the effect.
-
Make sure that in graphics settings lights are set to all. But as stated above, Advanced Haze is the requirement. Try updatign your drivers, or maybe your garphics card just isn't beefy enough for the game to think about plotting lights.

You don't require laser on to get a lock, only for firing weapons. It sounds like you have the wrong target size, or are simple not yet in range to achieve a lock. (where the display shows AC). Just to add, you said you had problems locking on the ship, well ships are pretty big, so make sure you have max target size set (using Ctrl and +), you also can't be too far away as I stated. For vehicles target size of 5 or 10 normally does the trick. Make sure you are ground stabalised first (as scots said earlier), then keep the box over the target, when in range it should lock it up. Now continue with weapon release (i.e. if TV fire when in range, or if laser turn that on and then continue).

Just a shame it has never been modelled anywhere. Yes, I have always been a fan of the alarm's linger mode (where it shoots straight up, deploys a parachute and then waits for someone brave enough to turn on their radar).

This is not a poll...fantasy addon....

The more I think about it, the more I think the Harrier to be perfect for these guys. I also hope this hobby project "takes off " (horizontally or vertically) http://www.thunder-works.com/ -
Brits would also fly a Tornado, however we have the fantastic ALARM missile. Theoretically able to carry 7 I think, but unlikely to see this.

Plus you can write down and save the activation key for your system. I have installed FC about 3 times now (due to errors when applyign the texture upgrades), only used activation twice (2nd time I saved the key and used this in the 3rd install). I am sure you can do this (although it was a while ago and brain is a little foggy).

Network compatibility : LO+FC+BS / LO+BS
dynamocl replied to Azrayen's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Probably just lock the 25T out. So the games are compatable, but BS owners can't use the 25T. So in multiplayer, they just are not allowed in. Those improvements in FC can be considered to be superceeded by BS, and so they are not really giving it away. -

We can only hope, in fact can we hold you to this in a few years time? -

Actually, I imagine it would be quite easy. Each plane is allocated two users, one in the front one in the back. Different cockpits, but very "do-able", infact thinking about it, the concept has already been in many games: Operation flashpoint (gunner and pilot for the cobra and Apache) Battlefield 2 (I know its an arcade game), same thing. IL2 - one the pilot, one the back seat gunner. If the game was solely multiplayer then there would be no problem (as long as people were willing to sit in both either seat). As statd before, its the problem in single player mode when you have to control both seats, or get the PC to do something - then us humans would always question the ability of the silicon pilot/WSOp/Navigator. But there is always the Gr7 Harrier. -
New 1.2 Screen Shots - 10 March 06
dynamocl replied to Wags's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That't the problem, I do expect... or should I say hope. Something like OFP with the fidelity of a proper flight sim, sure it will scare the kids off because they can't use the jets like in Battlefield 2. But isn't that the point? One day, one day......
