  1. Nah, you can talk as much as you want into the radio at any time, just don't expect a reply
  2. Well assuming real life pilots know where they are when they get briefed, they also have maps and logbooks, lists over airfields with frequencies and field info, etc. I feel like using the F10 map (with no enemy showing of course) is like looking it up in the book. Your option would be to print a list of airfields in the region and observe the briefing for your location. That being said, I do believe the topmost option in the ATC radio submenu is always the closest airfield and thus your starting point.
  3. Yup Throttle: 27.5cm long by 15cm wide. There is a small section on the front and back with holes for screws about 1.7cm each, so the actual length of the quadrant itself is 24cm Stick: Base plate measures 27 by 23cm :) Edit: Screw holes on both stick and throttle looks to be 6mm in diameter but I can't tell for sure without a slide caliper.
  4. Looks to me like you have to be pretty close to 220 IAS for it to work, assuming it stops adjusting the throttle when it hits the sweet spot. If it's under 220 it'll keep increasing the throttle until it overshoots, then reduce it until it undershoots. Like a yo-yo. Different throttle adjustments at different deltas and some manual speedbrake input while using it should give some results but it will still be unresponsive.
  5. I found that setting Saturation X on the throttles to 99 (and tick the box Slider) eliminated unwanted movement when starting up on the ramp. Other than that I use Deadzone 3 and Curvature 15 for Roll and Pitch.
  6. I only pray that it will not be as severe as in 2004
  7. Oh crap :( Has the wave hit? Edit: More crap, an aftershock of 8.8 reported 10 minutes ago
  8. I think that just went on my wish list
  9. :music_whistling:
  10. I feel a bit safer, to be honest.
  11. Well how does the wingman find them?
  12. Ah this should do :)
  13. Yeah that spoiler can throw you off sometimes. Here you go! Spoiler free  :bye:

    I'm kinda thinking live catfish
  15. That's nice, the documentation that came with the TM HOTAS stick explained the name for each button but not how they relate to the sim :) (The stick layout seems half broken, by the way. Text everywhere)

    Butterfly effect, mate.
  17. I have 3D Vision and I don't see it working well with the sim. Everything is either REALLY close (cockpit) or REALLY far away (outside) and you spend all the time shifting focus between the two. It kinda works for the HUD but overall it's just a performance drain.

Yeah, it's a shame Helga is getting too old. I really got off to some of those haystack movies she made in her 60s.
  20. Waiting only means something bigger will be around the corner when you were planning on buying. Might as well wait for that, too :P If you think you'll use the same socket for the next 5 years then by all means, get an expensive motherboard. If you might upgrade that too you might want to pay for a little less overkill.

We're making a Fahrtrichtungsanzeigerkontrollglühlampe-themed asian porn movie next year. Just to see if it's possible.
  22. To answer what hasn't been answered :) Commendable The performance you get is related to the clock speed and wether the program supports multiple threads. This shouldn't be an issue at all with an I-5 2500K, it already has 4 cores. Yep, you should think about it :P Extraordinary performance but a high price tag. Definately go for one if your budget holds for it Unless you're also getting a PCIe 3.0 card like the GTX 680, no. The computer you're building now will last a good two-three years or so with all newest game releases played on max graphics. Wether or not you upgrade by then is up to you, the only thing that would be likely to fail in the next 5 years is hard drives and the power supply Of course! Today it is all about digital cables  I strongly recommend you get a quality power supply unit. A Corsair TX750 covers your needs and I've had good experience with one in the past.

  24. Introducing Lars Monsen, Norways answer to action movies. Bit slower pace than a big sweaty man removing shrapnel from his own body in a film studio but Lars basically gets some supplies and just heads out into the wilderness for months. His trip across Canada, completely alone, took two years and seven months:
